I know I jumped for joy when the Cowboys got Gregory. And I want to point out the Cowboys did a great job this year. Hardy in the off season, Jones, Gregory, in the draft. Collins after the draft. It's good to be a Cowboy fan now. I think a Super Bowl win is around the corner.:)

It is fun right now.

All I can say is that I've been a little bit underwhelmed with our drafts in 2013 and 2014, only to be very pleasantly surprised with the players once we get them incorporated on the roster. I'm as happy as anybody with the major picks from 2015. I guess we'll see if they prove to be as strong a draft class, overall. I do think there's a fairly obvious disconnect between what fans think they've gotten on draft day and what actually works out to be the case. Some of that disconnect comes from players responding differently to coaching and to the obvious issues with projecting a college player to the pros. Some of it has to come form the delta between what a bunch of people who project draft picks from the outside looking in see as likely and what actual NFL scouts and teams with actual NFL resources think is likely.
Either way, as long as we keep adding talent, I don't worry too much about how Mel Kiper grades our draft. He can keep regrading them upwards in perpetuity for all I care if we keep getting younger and better.

On the flip side Kiper liked Jones, Gregory, and Collins.

I know everyone doesn't like Kiper, but I think everyone on this board would like the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl this year, so that's something we can all agree on, or at least I hope so.

I don't really dislike Kiper. I just think fans put way too much stock into his rankings.

Kiper's actually fine, though I like Mayock better. It's just that these guys are providing entertainment and not much in the way of actual information. Players' stock rises and falls like stocks in a market, based on their relative popularity and the average fan's hopes for his team. Unlike the market, though, the earnings call is the actual draft, and when the earnings call disagrees with the enthusiasm of the market, people assume that the market was right and the measurement must be wrong. But it's really the other way around.

It's been said every year, but if any of these prognosticators actually knew what they were doing, they'd be doing it instead of critiquing the job other people do who are actually running a team's draft. The fact that they're not tells you all you really need to know about how expert they really are.

Those guys were thought to be top 20 talent. As has been said, Kiper and Mayock pay more attention to the guys expected to go in the early rounds.

If people want to point to a failed 4th round pick, it should be somebody like AOA, not Matt Johnson. The AOA pick was back in the Wade Phillips years when the Cowboys drafting was a mess but their picks were actually much closer to the draft media rankings than they have been the past few years since Garrett and McClay have had more influence. AOA was actually a bargain according to the draft media, but the coaches knew there were big problems the 1st time he stepped onto the practice field. Matt Johnson on the other hand was loved by the coaches from the beginning.

Summary: The Cowboys drafting has been the best during the time frame when their picks least matched the draft media rankings.

I remember AOA was considered a 2nd rounder by many

Same thing was said about Fredricks.

Fred was never graded as a 6th. He had a late first early second grade before his horrific times at the combine. And Fred was always the best player at his position based on tape.

Chaz Green and Fred? Not the best comparison.

My point was all of the living room gm's whines and moaned about Fredricks draft selection at that spot. So basically those of us that work at a craft
Other than football are better off letting them
Build this team, they've done a well enough job these
Past few years that we should trust their judgement. Besides, the great Belicheck misses quite a bit also. This isn't 100% no
Matter what we think.

I was one who loved the Frederick's pick and my support was quite prolific on CZ. And I am not one of those that bows down at the altar of anything Pats, whether Belichick, Brady or otherwise. Just do not think the 2 picks are similar at all.

One of 100 from what I've read on here, but jolly good. Have a good day
