It baffles me how some of you have short term memory. 2011 Murray missed games, 2012 Murray missed games, 2013 Murray missed games, 2014 contract year running behind best o-line in football Murray still broke his hand but played through it because of a contract year. So some of you are either delusional or blatantly ignoring the fact that Murray is just as "injury-prone" as McFadden and yet you guys wanted to break the bank on him, and curse our running game as if Murray was the savior of all. Well i let facts run me more than emotion and the fact is that McFadden has just as much of a chance to avoid injury and have a breakout year as your boy Murray. It's ridiculous I wasnt hearing anybody moaning over the possibility of missing Murray before the 2014 season. But as the great Phil Jackson once said, "Oh how quickly they forget"

Two RBs that are a step away from IR and a pint-sized situational RB , leaves one RB on the roster , if he is not in jail. Yeah, they are good to go.

You can say that about any position on any team

Agreed

I cannot believe the level of disrespect Murray is getting around here................To think a bunch of scrubs like McFadden, Randle, Williams, and Dunbar are going to come anywhere close to the level of production Murray gave us is laughable.

People here are blinded by thinking that anyone can run behind this oline. That frame of thought has now reached the Dallas FO and that thinking has hurt us in the draft.

If I had the best oline in the NFL I would want the best runningback to run behind it and not some scrubs. I don't know why the Cowboys think some castaways and some backups will equal to what Murray did. It just ain't happening.

So every team has two running backs that are a hit away from going to the IR and two other runningbacks that are nothing more than situational backups? Really?

Ya at any position on any team. All it takes is one hit to put anyone on IR and most teams run a committee type approach. There isn't many bell cow backs any longer

So McFadden, Randle, Williams, and Dunbar are going to all tag team for over 2000 yards?

:lmao2:

If they are healthy and given the carries... yeah.

Somebody is going to get a couple hundred carries in this offense.

It may be one of these guys. Or it maybe some other back, but someone is going to get a couple hundred carries.

Most teams aren't the Cowboys. We were successful at running the ball while the entire league was pass happy. Seems like your content with 4 very shaky and unproven runningbacks. Im not. The Patriots had 6 runningbacks and they weren't even considered a running team. So you are right all it takes is one hit on any player and they can go to the IR. However, for a run dominant team like ours, why do we carry 4 runningbacks ONLY which two have a history of injuries? It just doesn't add up.

lol What a bunch of crybabies!

So what? The Cowboys did not draft the next Emmitt Smith. Put the blame where it belongs...DeMarco Murray. He got greedy. Now watch Murray win a SB this season.

I don't think so. Not with this core group of runningbacks. Two of them, Mcfadden and Williams are damaged goods. Randle is not a workhorse and Dunbar is nothing more than a situational player.

Thats a pretty pathetic group to entrust with the best blocking oline in the NFL. We could and should have done better then this during the draft. But we didn't. So no, we won't be gaining more than what we had last year.

Good chance we don't. I'm thinkinki
If the Cowboys end up rushing for more yards than last year, it'll be because we averaged more YPC, because we're not going to run the ball more often, imo.
This line is very good, but this team and fans have become arrogant and believe any RB can gain big yardage behind it. A good line is not the only part of a great running game. It takes a very good RB as well. Any JAG is not going to get the job done.
I'm not arrogant, I just believe our line will make a tremondous jump this year. Hey I might be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

how is it Murray got greedy and Dallas didnt? Dallas could have footed the bill to keep him, they chose not to. Dallas is taking a big gamble on being greedy instead of paying what they knew they had. I am personally not down on Dallas for that because i feel personally they are banking on his injuries. But than again McFadden is not known for being healthy either. So there goes that theory.

Dallas got greedy tho, should have paid the bill they caused. You make a player better than he is, you cant blame him for other teams buying the hype. Hopefully for me it will be fun to watch the Eagles witness it after paying the bill. But i dont begrudge Murray, nor call im greedy.

I don't think they were greedy just realistic. Name one team that has all pro caliber QB, WR, 3 offensive lineman, RB, plus a decent defense? Just doesn't add up.

That's a valid point that many choose to forget or ignore.

The reason the Seahawks to belly up to the bar on Lynch's contract is that they didn't have the huge cost of a franchise QB (yet) and their WR's were all young and cheap.

The reason the Bills could extend McCoy's contract is that they aren't paying for a franchise QB.

Denver let Sanders and Moreno walk because they were expensive and couldn't afford them.

Plus look at Murray's age and how long the Eagles are going to be strapped to that guy... It really is a horrible contract.

Wow denial is an ugly thing. I think when our run games stuggles this year and it has a domino effect on the rest of the offense... many fans here will be changing their tune.

My guessing running totals go down and passing totals go up. Linehan has NEVER been a run first OC until last year and that was due to our poor defense and the dictation to keep them off of the field. They were not and will not protect Romo but our defense is another story. As the defense improves our passing percentage will go up. Come on guys look at the big picture (and Romo was not the problem before and will not be in the future unless he is hurt and can't play I(for his silly detractors)).

The running game "struggled" from lack of use during the '13 season and the team ended up 5th in scoring.

The running game was hitting on all cylinders last year and ended up... 5th in scoring.

I agree with you. This is almost certainly how it's going to pan out.

It's not over, still trades can happen free agency. So many ways if they feel they need a RB. I let the Cowboys do their thing instead of the sky is falling.

The way you guys talk we can't win a game because we didn't draft a RB. These coaches, scouts etc. are around the players and soak with doctors, agents etc. They know more then we do no matter what y'all think.

I for one am glad we stuck to our board and got football players that will help us win games.

This speculation about a player getting in trouble or injuried is crazy. Our offense will score points, our defense can now stop teams. You can't have superstars everywhere. I for one think we win 11-14 games this season and we are contenders

Umm. No.

Don't see it without a "running" QB.

And it's not necessary, given the other weapons on offense.

Last season they rushed for 2,300 yards.

This year I think they stay right around 2,000 yards while the passing game garners a couple more attempts here & there.

30 rushing attempts per game... 4.2 ypc average... 2,016 yards on the season.

That I can see.........

......... Clearly!

2500 yards is up there.

It's not out of the realm of possibility. I wouldn't bet on that many yards myself but with this massive, athletic, powerful, talented offensive line, it wouldn't shock me.

I am not on the ledge as much as most here about our running back situation.

We have some talent in our offensive backfield with a mix of experience and a guy that has the mentality that he has something to prove as well in Williams. The focal point is the point of attack and up front with this offense now. That's what we have drafted it to be with what we have put into the offensive line.

We'll hand the ball off 35 plus times a ball game next year and we'll be successful doing it. No matter who is totin' the rock.
