5th lowest pressure percentage doesn't exactly scream "really good pass rush."

you care to share a source for that stat?
Yeah I’m not a stats guy I just watch football games and it’s clear our pass rush is a problem right now for teams.

We actually have 5 less pressures than number 1. However, we have the 2nd most attempts against us.

Pats have beaten the JETS and TEXANS, if they choose to blow their own horn go for it.
25 points each against those 1-4 league dregs. But against a third team that has the same record- the Dolphins- Patriots scored only 17 points. Same amount when they lost to the Bucs...and could just put up 13 points versus the Saints.

We do give up yards, but who cares. Were not giving up points and we are generating turnovers and Diggs is keeping his streak alive.

I think everyone here knows the defense is susceptible to allowing some big plays. We’re still weak at some areas.

But if the DL can pressure the QB and the secondary can keep getting turnovers, we’re a dangerous team.

I think this is ironic, because the Dallas Defense is Way UNDERRATED. Week one, they were in this scheme for the first time vs the world champs on the road, I give them a pass. Then they play a Charger team that was scoring like a pinball machine last week and hold them to 17 in their house, then they blow out 3 teams in a row and allow some garbage yards and scores that skew the numbers. When the games are still in question they're pretty good. Pretty good while making turnovers is a winning formula.

Aside from the first game and around a half against the Panthers, the defense hasn't really had to play not having the lead. That has helped a lot. It would be interesting to see how the defense performs when they are trailing (especially against the run when a team hasn't abandoned it).

Stats are always misleading, last yr our offense wasn't as good as the stats stated as we were always piling up yards in garbage time, the opposite can be said this year. Defense is far better then the yardage totals as teams are getting yards in garbage time.

A quick look at the numbers, our defense isn’t dominant to be sure. 14th in points against.

The Patriots offense? 26th In points scored.

Not scared.

Through five weeks, the Dallas Cowboys defense is proving to be the Imagine Dragons of NFL defenses: they have some hits, but the product as a whole is vastly overrated.

Despite the Cowboys being one of the best in the league in one key stat we’ll get to later, there’s a laundry list of others they aren’t so high in:

-- Second-most passing yards allowed

ADVERTISING
-- Eighth-most total yards allowed

-- Fourth-most yards per play allowed (6.3)

-- Fifth-least in pressure percentage

-- Eighth-most missed tackles

-- Most penalized defense

In addition, Dallas does not have a single defensive lineman rank in the top 10 in any of ESPN’s defensive win rate statistics. The unit as a whole ranks 16th and 17th in pass rush win rate and run stop win rate, respectively. These onslaught of stats are to point out that the Dallas defense, as a whole and as individuals, mostly range somewhere from medicare to below average.

I think Points per play is the best one stat to gauge how well a unit is playing.

We are #1 on offense and #17 on defense tied with Baltimore. That 17th ranking is better than SF, Cleveland, WFT, and TB. All these so called "good" defenses.

well, 8th most rushing yards where do you get your info...we are 5th in total rushing yards allowed. 14th in yards per attempt...5th in rushing TDs allowed...only 3

passing game needs work....but about 40% of the passing total has come when we have been up by 20+ points.....

your 5th least in pressure percentage is totally wrong...we are #2 in turnovers, #1 in interceptions. #12 in QB hurries, #7 in QB knock downs, #9 in QB pressures,

we are 20th in yards per pass attempt, number 9 in adjusted yards per pass attempt, 20th in yards per completion, 7th in QB Rating, although 20th in sack total, 12th in total sack yards,

so yeah, the defense needs improvement, however compare to last year, they are ways ahead and ways improved. you are complaining about the defense not being elite....after being bottom sucking defense.

The reason to care is that the yards given up are generally more predictive than the takeaways. So if you're interested in what we'll do in future games, you should be a little concerned about all those receivers running free in the secondary and all those big running plays. The takeaways have papered that over so far, but if we slow down in that department, we could have problems (unless we improve in other areas, about which I'm hopeful).

But we need to put things into perspective….yards doesn’t equate to points. The only thing that matters is points because if you erased all the garbage yards Hurts and Darnold got you would have a higher ranking:
