what annoys me about Aikman is the inordinate (parcell's word...lol) number of times that he uses "WHAT" in his sentences when he shouldn't use it all. For example, Tony Romo is not having the same success as "what" he had the last 3 games as opposed to just saying he's not having the same success as he's had the last 3 games. The fellas on The Hardline pointed the "what" thing out at the beginning of the year. I notice it when he's doing interviews, games, etc. and it annoys the hell out of me. I hate them for pointing it out.

I think Aikman is anti-Cowboy in a strange way. Some players, after they leave their alma mater, don't want their alma mater to win because it will subtract some of their glory. They start to think that the team/program can win without them. And then they aren't so important. I think deep down Aikman is a little like that with the Cowboys. He will always be a Cowboy but doesn't like to see the Cowboys win without him. He starts to see his legend wane.

Concerning UCLA, Aikman was never a legend. So he doesn't mind seeing UCLA win without him.

Well, we COULD be dealing with ESPN, which seems to be scouring this board for catchy Romo phrases (They're just too desperate and too after-the-fact to be hip).

We COULD be dealing with some kind of son-of-Theisman, but NEITHER Daryl Johnston nor Troy seem to be doing that.

Why?

Troy is paid to improve RATINGS.

That means getting fans from BOTH TEAMS engaged in the game.

That's what he is PAID TO DO. So, he has to be aware of the fans of both teams simultaneously, and give reasonable credit to both sides. The better he is at getting all fans into the game, the MORE MONEY he will be paid.

How hard is that to understand?

David.

Has anyone noticed Brainpaint constantly defends and poo-poos the Aikman bias threads?

Brainpaint - clearly in love with Troy Aikman? Hopeless Giants fan?

You decide.

Option 3

Clearly tired of people whining about Aikman.

I think people should be forced to listen to Theezman, Al Michaels and a few others for a whole season and than see the difference.

I'll do it.

I'll count how many times he talked about Manning and how many times he talked about Romo.

Yesterday, much as I truly have liked his color commentary, he sucked.

Oh and given your history, I want the 20 in advance.

:D

Sucked and "pro Giants" are 2 different things.

I wanna hear this man openly criticizing every play by the Cowboys and gushing by the Giants. I think a lot of our fanbase are absolutely full of crap.

He reports every game the exact same way. We're grown soft as a fanbase to criticism. If he's right, he's right.

Every whiny fan who wants him to bash the Giants and praise even bonehead plays has me ready to throw up.

Reminds you of people that say "like" multiple times in a sentence.

I agree. It seems many want Troy to comment about Dallas as Irvin does on ESPN, always singing the Cowboys parises. Troy is doing a fine job as is and does not need to change how he covers the games. I don't always agree with his comments but then who agrees with any person covering games comments? Just because we tend to be homers don't put that on Troy

I didn't say he was pro Giants.

I said his commentary sucked because he came into the game with a planned script and didnt let the game dictate the story line.

Manning this...Manning that...the Giants in disarray...ENOUGH already.

He was like the Caliendo impersonation of Madden talking about Favre.

He was WAY too one dimensional yesterday. And I LIKE his color commentary. Always have.

Make sure to mention the plays.

If Tony throws Two INTs and Manning throws two TDs...more time than not the announcer will talk about the QB with the TDs.

Well unless it is Madden and his all consuming love of Favre.

I heard after the game he sat Eli on his knee and patted him on the back until he got his windys up. HE DIDN'T DO THAT FOR TONY.

Also I believe he tried to get his bust in he Giants section of the HOF.

This all stared last year when they inducted the triplets into the ROH, he's hated the Cowobys since then and wants Commander boxers for christmas because he just can't stand Dallas.

I am not saying it was because he was PRO anything.

He simply didn't let the game dictate the story line. He was "PRO" his preconceived story line and just stuck to it WAY too long.

I almost shut the sound off.

And I LIKE the guy.

I think he does a good job. Not so yesterday.

Most announcers come into a game with those scripts.

It is part of what the network does to push the story.

Heck they even do it in college football.

If a player is doing good or bad prior to the game they talk about that during the game even if that player is doing just the opposite.

It is not just the cowboys.

I hear it during steelers games and the announcers are going on and on about the struggles of Big Ben. The other team will be on offense and they are still talking about Ben.

Look at what was going on with Reggie Bush. How many times have there been subpar games by him yet the announcers are signing his praises during the game before he has done anything? You would think people/announcers forgot that the saints have another pretty decent RB coming off of an injury.

It just goes with the territory sometimes.

Not easy doing all of that and writing it down.:)

I try to bleep out most of what these "experts" say, so I did not pay that much attention to Troy boy. Or Big Buck. (At least this time they did not introduce their kids). I'd be interested to have heard Troy boy's reaction when the Cowboys won it with one second left.

Re Aikman, it must not be easy being the QB from the last century. Romo is our QB of this century and the toast of the town. Aikman is the toast of the broadcast booth.
