That is collusion. Something the United States forbids.
Sorry, but the NFLPA agreed with the rule in the subsequent CBA, so that made it perfectly legal.

When the NFL and NFLPA agreed that 2010 front loaded contracts would essentially be treated as signing bonuses - which everyone knew would happen - it became legal to treat front loaded contracts as signing bonuses.

If the Cowboys gave Austin a 1 year, $20 million contract, then there would have been no salary cap penalty. But when they gave him 75% of his first 4 years' salary in year 1, the league said "that's a signing bonus and we are going to treat it as such." The NFLPA signed off on it, hence no collusion.

^ Staubach was nicknamed Capt America, not that it will prevent you from twisting reality.

Go ahead and say I'm ISIS - I'd expect that from a group like this.

I very much doubt anyone on here is going to compare you to a murderous group of terrorists!

saying you'd expect that from a group like this is so silly

The nflpa is suing over it. They maintain they were blackmailed into the agreement. Only way they were going to get that money.

He can like whatever teams he wants. That's his doing.

Don't come on a Cowboys board talking down to me about the Cowboys & how dingy & mean I am without expecting a reply though. He can expect that everytime.

Totally agree. Its his choice to like what team he wants. But he certainly has no rights to label the Cowboys as cheaters. Cowboys did not cheat. Yet they were punished for it. He is also downplaying the Patriots and Brady's actions as petty compared to other teams like the Cowboys.

Well when you have thrown the Cowboys aside...hitched a ride on the Pats paddy wagon...you throw stuff like that out there.

Maybe Tom wasn't thought of as such a nice guy behind the scenes by the media?

From reading the text from the ball boys it seems they also don't like Brady at all. However, one of them gets gifts for doing things for Brady. Some gifts are shoes and autographs from Brady himself. Thus this cheating could have gone on for years.

I haven't the slightest knowledge of how Tom is thought of by the media. My guess is that he speaks to them, but only at the absolute minimum required by the NFL. So the media gets what they *need* and he doesn't have to talk to them too much.

He comes off very much like Belichick. Very shady and calculating, but smart enough to know not to not to run your mouth. Running your mouth will draw attention and attention is bad when you're doing shady things. Occasionally, even the best as hiding things get caught if their doing shady things. Belichick and Brady have been caught more than once. The real question is, how much are they actually getting away with?

Miami Herald is saying a source tells them a Brady suspension could be up to a full year...but that is a divisional rival town, so.

So, eleven separate events or does Goodell conveniently give them one event??

Excellent point...based on precedent the league set with Hardy, there were at least (balls in other games were likely altered) 11 instances of cheating here.

In the 103 days Ted Wells investigated the Patriots, don't you think he could have talked to people all over the league and come up with a list of dozens of cheating incidents? Why not? Come on - some of you have sworn it's so. Why didn't Wells come up with the goods?
Because they didn't investigate anything else besides the deflated ball issue.

They signed an agreement in good faith. There's no legal leg to stand on to eliminate one single clause of that agreement.

If they really want to die on that hill, they'll have to give something up, but it's just not worth it to them.

I have a feeling Goddell is going to really lay the hammer down on Brady. Actually, I think Brady may get suspended for two preseason games. Mr. Brady will think twice before he engages in this type of behavior again. You show 'em commish!

Brady should probably get a game or two for what he did, but I am basing that statement more on how he lied to investigators than the actual "crime" itself. And those 2 equipment doofuses should probably start looking for new jobs.
Brady should get more than two games, but he won't because he's Brady, Kraft is Kraft, and Goodell is Goodell. Brady not only lied, but refused to cooperate with the investigation. He refused to give up his cell phone even though he would have been allowed to have HIS lawyers remove any communications that were unrelated to the incident(s) in question. In short, he was untruthful and uncooperative in the investigation...Goodell has frowned heavily on that stuff in the past with other players.
As for the two "doofuses" being fired, they were low level employees doing what Brady pressured them to do. They would never have done that on their own. If anybody deserves to be fired in this, it is Brady ...he is the principal instigator. If either of those two guys get fired, shame on the NFL/Pats for making the little guy the scapegoat.
