1. Bledsoe
2. Henry
3. Glenn
4. Barber/Pettitti
5. Ratliff

These are guys who've given the Cowboys much more than I ever expected, either based on last year's performance or their draft status. Canty is good, but despite the hype, he just looks like a solid guy. Ware is slowly progressing into what he's supposed to be...anything less than what he's doing would be a disappointment.

5 players ive been impressed with.

1. Anthony Henry- all you got to do is role out last years tapes, and see how abused we got in the secondary.

2. Rob Pettiti- the plan going into this season wasnt for Rob to be our starting RT, but as a late round draft pick, and having started every game, Rob's done pretty darn good. a game like last week was expected sooner or later, but overall he has played good.

3. DeMarcus Ware- a converted down lineman to a roaming LB, has lived up to the billing so far.

4. Jay Ratliff- has seen alot of action this year on the DL, noone knew anything about him going into this year, just ask Kenyon and Ogabagu how good he has been playing.

5. Brady James- with Dat out of the lineup, a player i thought was a bust, James has really impressed me this year, especially with his coverage skills

For the record, I still don't think T-New is playing like a 5th overall draft pick.
then what do you think about this year's play of
1) Quentin Jammer?
2) Champ Bailey?
3) Marcus Trufant?

I think you're still holding Tnew to the Deion standard which was prior to the rule change. I think TNew has been outstanding and certainly in the top 3 CB performers so far this season. What more do you want from a CB? I definitely think he's been playing better than the 3 I mentioned above.
Tnew would have more stats if anyone tried to throw on him. They usually don't even try cuz he's like glue.
I think the way Tnew has been playing this year even puts to rest any apprehension i had taking him over Suggs and I'm not all the sold on Leftwich either. Maybe if Lefty ever finishes a 16 game season without missing 5 games, then i might change my mind. Right now, seems more like Steve McNair.

I agree on all points, 187. TNew is playing superb football. I think he's the prototypical CB for the new era: not huge but very quick and jumps out of the building. He's playing like a 5th overall selection for my money.

The Good:
1. Drew Bledsoe - Recent struggles aside, he surprised me the most.

2. Marion Barber - I never thought he would get out of Coach Parcells' doghouse. He looks out and in charge of it now.

3. Chris Canty - He seemed like he was going to sit out the year.

4. Mat McBriar - Thus far he is the most consistent player on the team.

5. Bradie James - The last three games have been impressive.

And the bad:

1. Marco Rivera - I am surprised he has looked this average.

2. Al Johnson - I thought he would be better than he is.

3. Marcus Spears - He should be making more plays.

4. Aaron Glenn - When he was signed, I thought he could threaten one of the two starters. He has made some very poor plays.

5. Larry Allen - He decides when he wants to play (Seattle) and when he doesn't (Oakland).

The Good:

Drew Bledsoe - I was wrong about him. When he gets time, he's a pro bowl QB. Hopefully, the line will step up and give him some protection. I think the season hinges on that.
Terence Newman - I can't fathom how someone wouldn't have him on their list. He's been sensational. He's given up very few completions, and has made several big plays. He makes a pick to save a TD or FG against Seattle, he saves 4 points by chasing down Randy Moss (something I've never seen before), he makes a possible game saving deflection on Dat's pick against SF, makes a 1st down saving tackle against TO, and sets up a field goal with a pick against Washington. IMO, he may be the best corner in the NFL; he's taking away his part of the field most of the time, and that's the closest thing to a shut down corner there is right now.
Laroi Glover - He's had some stupid penalties, but otherwise he's been teriffic. I've seen him get overpowered at times as a NT, but he's generally been great and when Dallas plays a 4 man line, he's been all-pro caliber.
Anthony Henry - A good football player, certainly better than what I thought we were getting. I like the way he makes physical tackles as well. He's really helped solidify the secondary, taking it from a weakness to a strength in just one offseason.
Terry Glenn - He's been inconsistent of late, but he's the only deep threat we have. If he gets hurt, the offense takes a major blow.

The surprising:

Demarcus Ware - He's going to be great. I was just hoping he wouldn't embarrass himself as a rookie. He's greatly exceeded my expectations.
Willie Pile - He's no star, but this guy can play. It's no coincidence the safety play has been better as of late.
MBIII - I thought he'd get cut. Instead, he's probably the best allaround back on the team with JJ hurt.
Patrick Crayton - More than any other player we have, he has a nose for the 1st down. Just watch him: he always seems to know where the sticks are. Too bad about his injury.
Rob Pettiti - I thought he was a fat blob who wouldn't get out of camp. He'll have to step it up though, after 2 straight subpar games.

The Disappointing:

Marco Rivera - Too many penalties and average blocking. For the $ Dallas gave him, I expected at least a near pro-bowl performance.
Flo Adams - Before his injury, he was inconsistent. He toys with his guy one play, and then gets owned the next. A complete enigma.
Kevin Burnett - Maybe disappointing is the wrong word. I didn't expect much from him. His senior year he was on the field almost every play of every game, and yet never made big plays. In Dallas, he can't even get on the field.
Marcus Spears - Not labeling him a bust, I just thought he'd come in and be an immediate impact player, and that Ware would struggle some. It's been the opposite.
Bill Parcells - Being conservative and run/defense oriented is one thing. The run, run, pass strategy in the red zone last week was horrible and amateurish. As was the run, run, run, FG strategy against Washington.

I'm defining the word "impressed" as guys that have exceeded my expectations. Roy, Newman, and Witten are not on the list, but they are probably playing better than any of these guys.

1. Anthony Henry - coming into the season I thought he was the almost perfect type of CB the team needed. Somebody big that could throw WR's a changeup in the coverage they were seeing, somebody who could play the run, and somebody who has good hands to create turnovers. I thought he'd be decent in coverage, he's been excellent sans the Niners game.

2. La'Roi Glover - On pace to have 9 sacks this year. That's downright incredible for a nose guard in the 3-4.

3. Terry Glenn - still throws opposing teams fits which impresses me given how many years he's been in the league and being 31 years old.

4. Ware - Explosive first step with long arms. He's basically doing very well right now despite needing to get a bit more muscle to his frame and some more move. He also is adjusting to the game on the fly.

5. Shanle - Covers well, blitzes well, plays good on special teams. He may give Burnett and Nguyen a run for their money on the position.

Guys who need to step it up:

1. Rivera

2. Al Johnson - needs more consistency

3. Aaron Glenn - he's the guy they target late in the game.

4. Kicker - cost Dallas 2 games so far.

5. Julius

Most surprising:

1) Crayton: Playing like a #1 receiver many times this year, he's been making big plays on returns and catches. Lots of first downs and big plays from him, VERY bright future on the team
2) Glenn: didnt think he was going to have such a big impact on our offense this year. Getting double teams, making big plays he's doing very well.
3) Canty: Looks better than spears which Is good for him and bad for Spears. I didnt think he would have such a big presence this soon.
4) Glover: I admit I somewhat had wrote him off, but he somehow at 36+ however old he is, is extremely strong. Still has teh quickness to get to teh QB too, he is doing it all.
5) Rob Pettiti: Never imagined him starting before the season, much less being praised as the future RT. Was able to step in immediately, something our fancy boy from USC wasnt able to do. He was able to make the switch lose all the weight and be good enough to impress me. Very good game against Strahan, and one off game against a scrub, but everyone has a bad day.

honorable mention: Bradie James: finally gets it, and saves us from having to draft another ILB next year, he has great size that BP loves.
Shanle: reminds me of Dat a little bit in that he seems to be smart about the game and knows where to be.

Most disappointing:

1) Burnett: I know hes had the injury i figured he would be starting by now though, I still have high hopes for him and i know he will be good.
2) Rivera: Was figuring he would have another probowl year, and he isnt. Not sure if its the injury still or what but something doesnt look right.
3) Rogers: Thought he was a stud when we got him, turned out to be a complete waste of a pick. Horrible pick by Parcells should have known more about his gimp injury and his ***** attitude.
4) Spears: I figured he would be starting by now, but Coleman somehow keeps stealing his spot. Spears has been ok, but hasnt lived up to what i expected of a #20 pick so far. still has a ton of time and will turn out ok.
5) JJ: Not really his fault i guess, but so frustrating to have another season cut in half because of injuries. Hopefully next year he can finally play a full season.

5 best players:
1) T Newman: Always liked him but he doesnt get the respect he deserves. If not for the big plays given up by glenn etc.(not him) he would be getting mention as a pro bowl nominee imo. Playing extremely well.
2) Henry: Finally getting a player opposite Newman who is big and physical is just what the doctor ordered for the dallas D. Henry has been great(minus a couple plays like the lloyd 85 yarder). Been a huge help to finally have two corners.
3) Ware: Causing havoc, and allowing Ellis to get some pressure. For the first time in Ellis career he has someone who takes the pressure off him, as teams double Ware a LOT. allows Ellis to have career year almost, and is having a career year himself already. He has been exactly what i thought he would be and then some.
4) Bledsoe: Finally a real leader for this team, and a guy we can rely on for the most part to get it done, just need to be able to mix it up more in the red zone for him to be successful but he has the weapons.
5) Roy: Making a lot of big plays, has been big in run support, and if not for Davis biting on playaction every single time probably wouldnt be getting any bad pub.

Couldn't agree more and for the record, it ticks me off more than any other one thing about the offense.

I wouldn't disagree with your list but our punter ought to get at least honorable mention, the one he boomed at the end of the game from the end zone that went beyond their fifty was a memorable one as have been many others. As pathetic as we have been offensively we would have no chance without him...
