Yes, and there's no one way to win SBs, some people act like if you don't have a quarterback throw for 5,000 yards a SB is an impossibility...
theres a reason why Brees has just 1 trophy...because its very hard to sustain that kind of offensive output in the playoffs... He who can pound the rock, use clock, and stop the run, stand the best chance of advancing in the tournament. ITS JUST FOOTBALL 101. Nothing has changed. If the chiefs didn't have Hunt, they wouldn't be doing what they are doing...same with the saints and RAMS. They all run the ball very well. We do too...and that's why we have a decent chance.

With our qb I don't know if we have a decent chance. Avg qbs don't win too many Super Bowls.

I agree, the bombs and hail mary's that others bring up are not relevant to arm strength.

But he does tend to sail passes towards the sideline (especially out breaking routes). But even those downfield more inside (like that INT that went off Austin's outstretched fingers) tend to go up.
Well, which is it? He doesn't have the arm for the out breaking routes or he does?

Sailing is not indicative of someone without the arm strength to complete the pass. He has completed MANY sideline out patterns.

I mentioned this Dak's rookie year. He doesn't have the arm strength to throw a 20 yard out without a CB jumping it. It happened often his rookie year. It is not about throwing it 60 yards in the air.

BTW, on the options.....Tua comes out in 2020, so we can tank next year.

Question for those who need to see new coaching before taking an opinion.

I understand that a different scheme can benefit a QB/team by playing to his/its strengths.

But,

Do you guys think that new coaching can have any benefit in getting Dak to overcome the problems with accuracy, pocket presence, reading defenses, risk aversion, vision...?

I don't see it myself. I also don't think is enough there to build an effective scheme around that can be consistently successful against the better teams in the league.

i honestly dont watch much college ball so could not give an answer, but Dak was very accurate his first year so he has the accuracy
Dak has had good completion percentages but that's because he lives 10 yards from the line of scrimmage. That is a very different thing than being accurate with the ball. Even on some of his short stuff somehow the receiver has to make an acrobatic play on the ball and can't run in stride. It drives me crazy.

I don't either... They had to simplify the offense (Dak Friendly) for him. Blame the offensive coordinator all day long, but it's the same offense that Matt Stafford and Romo flourished in.

You are not understanding what arm strength means. It's not a distance thing. Being able to throw with velocity on a line (not sailing it) is good arm strength.

And no, he hasn't. He has completed very few (except short ones). The vast vast majority over 10 yards are comebacks.

saints have lost a boat load of talent over the years to free agency. but the two most important parts of a team, the qb and the hc, have remained. so they're always in the running.

Win a superbowl with Dak???!!!!! Lol.. Yeah, if we had the 85 bears defense and maybe the defenses that Tampa and Baltimore had when they won...

Buuuusss Driiiver..
Same could be said about Geoff until they got rid of Fisher.

I just watched it and he threw two out comebacks to Cooper from the opposite hash. He has plenty of arm strength.

And the one he sailed...he didn't get to step into. Arm is fine.

Lol... Arm is fine... Check out his rookie game vs Minnesota. CB drops the INT on Dak's deep outs.

rams vs Kansas city Monday night suggest defense might be overrated in the overall scheme of things. great qb's coached by outstanding offensive minded coaches seem to have tipped the scales in favor of the offenses. don't forget brees and payton vs the vaunted philly defense.
