How did our line improve from a year ago? We lost our starting LG and replaced him with a backup Chuma.

Drafted a tackle in the 6th round that will be lucky to make the practice squad. Steele is currently injured and may not be 100% all year.

EVERYONE and their mother agreed that Oline was the #1 priority for this team going into the offseason and the Cowboys did little to nothing. IN fact, they got worse with McGovern leaving.

Amazing how fans can convince themselves of anything.
Tyler Smith is the left guard. Waletzko is healthy now. They didn't get worse.

The talent is there, also the experience, but I think playing better under distress and staying healthy will be the key. The new OL coach has to get this group to overachieve or at least play to their capacity. They did that last year during Dak's injury, but kind of drop off later in the year, specially in crunch time, see 49ers game.

LG will be an upgrade, McG was nothing special IMO.

Another airball of a thought that the offensive line was good last year.

It might be a little better if Tyler improves, but they have a long, long way to go. People still think it's 2016.

They were t-27 in pass block win rate last year - tied with the Commanders and just 1% ahead of the Giants. The Eagles had the only good OL in the division last year.

I see a big accident waiting to happen. A cluster in the making.
Im a bit anxious with this group when it comes to pass protection. I dont see where they got better only another year under the belt and the same group. But thats just me maybe the addition of cooks the subtraction of zeke and gallup with another year out from injury and Kellen being in another zip code will help but passing on Torrence may come back to bite them

It should be much improved with Tyler in his 2nd year, healthy Tyron, and one of the better OL coaches in Solari.

Again, Torrence is not athletic enough to play in a zone heavy scheme.

I agree for the most part, but I doubt Torrence was going to be any type of solution to the pass blocking issues.

Assuming Tyron is out, Tyler developing at tackle would make a big difference

I like torrence over Schoonmaker 10 times out of 10 but we will see how it plays out

Yes and no. I don't really like Torrence but I did want to take OL.

I would have gone Anton Harrison at 26, personally.

Look everyone. CowboyRoy is already preparing excuses to deflect the blame from the weakest link on the offense (QB).
He's been dug in on this OL excuse since the end of last year as if its not clear, lol.

Idk why people are hung up on OL play as an excuse.

OL play influences QB performance. That's fundamental.

which means hell be in pro bowl first year lol.
In a primarily gap/man system, maybe. But you don't draft guys with limited athletic ability to a primarily zone system. He's got to be able to move. Which is why they did draft Asim Richards who has the athletic ability to play tackle and guard.

Who do you see?

I see Smith, Smith, Badass, Martin, Steele, Waletzko, Farniok, Edoga, Richards, with Bostick and Bass on the PS.

Your picks?
Right now, I'd say that's pretty accurate. Bostick or Bass might knock off Farniok, Edoga or even Richards, but practice squad is more likely. Would be great if they did bump Farniok and Edoga since Edoga is on a one-year deal and Farniok is gone after the next year. Turn and churn. That would give us three rookies as backups, though, and one would have to prove able to play center, so I don't think it will happen. Farniok's spot should be fairly secure at least. The only one who has a shot at him is probably Lindstrom, depending on his development.
