What exactly did Mike Singletary do/say?

The only way this works is if the Niners ownership has his back. If you the players mutiny, then slowly they'll be phased out of the organization and they'll have a reputation of being "quitters" and "selfish players" all across the league.

Singletary will keep the players who actually are mature enough to turn that team around, and he'll build upon that by drafting and signing players of that same mindset. Do you think Belicheck or Parcells would take that crap? Those guys had success, and they don't allow the players to run the team. It all depends on how much latitude the GM and Owner allow Singletary.

I live in 49er country and can say this. The players have his back - the 49er reports are full of players who say that Davis deserved it and that they Nolan had coddled him and "created a monster." The fans have his back and are and will continue to do so, win or lose. He inspires hope in the 49er faithful.

He'll be the coach for a long stretch.
