Yeah, when you consider all the factors, he could have been less impressive and still had a very acceptable rookie season. So, when you grade what he accomplished I think it has to be some version of an A.

Considering what he flashed and all the reports about how he was all about learning from the vets, would seem he is on a path that could really be exciting to watch.

He led the league with 15 total flags against. He had 4 penalties not accepted and only 1 guy had more. He led the league in holding penalties with 10.

All the concerns people had are still there. Are some of these grades on a curve?

Well, yeah in that he was a rookie bouncing between positions with one of those being one of the most difficult in the NFL.

Don't disagree it's still a concern. Grades won't be that good if it continues next year.

C+

Overall play was just a tick above average at times. Yes he played ok at 2 spots along the OL but he was not dominant in either and the holds held him back from being a B grade.

Smith A-, Williams C, Tolbert Z, Ferguson B-, Waletzko inc, Bland A, Clark B, Ridgeway F, Harper C.
For ridgeway did you consider how he played with wash or just cause the cowboys cut him?

Strictly about his time here. The team gets an F for losing him and watching him help a rival at a position of weakness on our roster.

Clark gets a B because of his situation. He wasn't supposed to play this year. I'd give him a C at best for his actual play this year.

Thanks for clarifying I didn't want to assume.

If one chooses to grade him against experienced tackles...B-'ish

If one chooses to grade him as a much maligned rookie who no CZ GM gave a chance...A+'ish

Personally I think the young man handled himself very well.

All in one's perspective.

Go Cowboys!

Zach Martin who was drafted around the same area was an A+. Smith was not at that level but just below it so I give an A.

A rookie able to come in and play LT at even an average level is exceedingly rare.

Solid B.

Did a good job of coming in Week 1 and not being the weak link. That said, he was a penalty magnet in college and that continued as a pro. That’s gotta be cleaned up.

A
I thought he did a great job on the left side of the line.
He didn't just stop with blocking his guy. He would pursue the play down field and try to take another defender out.
Poor man's Larry Allen.

T Smith has to get an A at the lowest.
Kid came from a small school.
The question marks on him coming out of the draft were penalties and still raw learning the game.

I think he more than proved his metal. I think he actually had less penalties his first year going against NFL talent then he did while playing in college at a lesser conference.
