What grade would you give defensive drafting under Garrett (2011-16)?

With a craptastic offensive line, it didn't matter one iota.

So you want to blame the FO and the DC for the bad defensive draft and not JG? Guess who was the OC when we had that "craptasict" OL?

Garrett, who has about a 2% say in who the team drafts.

General managers handle the draft, not the coaches.

We all need to come to terms with the real fact that Dez is a very limited player physically and intellectually. He's big and strong and competitive like few others. But he's a very average route runner with limited speed and no ability to learn defenses or precise routes.

There's a reason the only QB that throws his way much is Romo. The others have no idea where he's going.
I think you're wrong....I think Garrett and his coaching are the problem.

What about TO and Miles who also got used the same way?

We've seen Dez do stuff like this before.

So I don't get why implying that he is dumb validates not getting the ball in his hands for things other than jump balls.

It that's the case, don't credit him with the making of the OLine.

He specifically talked Jerry into letting Gurode go. He convinced Jerry to stop signing the Kyle Kosiers and Leonard Davises and the like.

Jerry would NEVER draft offensive linemen high. Now he's taken three. That's ALL Jason Garrett's influence.

Yet you want to give JG the credit for making this roster younger.

Witten hasn't been that guy in several years. Today, he's average at best. His blocking Sunday was embarrassing.
so why does Garrett insist on building his offense around him? That is the offense we run now, let Dez and Williams take off deep on every pass play to clear out the middle for Beasely and Witten's 5-9 yard catch and run. Witten will probably have over a hundred catches if Garrett continues to run the offense like he is, and will probably score 2 TDs with all those catches.

With Romo you have. He understands how to use Dez like no other QB.

well then the HC coach needs to be fired if his whole offense is dependent on Romo and only Romo to run it.

Thanks for doing that. I'm tired of drafting junky defensive players. Let's get some 1 st rd blue chippers and 1-2 top tier FAs in here on defense. Strong, sturdy, productive guys.

There are five players left from what he inherited: Romo, Witten, Lee, Scandrick, and Free.

Sounds like a 50s Celtics team.
You forgot Dez and Tyron. 7 starters remaining from 2011. I don't count 2010.

Packers have only 6 starters remaining from their 2011 team yet have found a way to constantly reload.

What's the excuse?

Great franchises like the Patriots/Packers are starting to lap us with a new cast of players since the Garrett "process" started.

Meanwhile bottom dwellers like the Jags/Texans/Vikings started the "process" after us but are on the verge of passing us.

You have to be insane to defend this crap.

Isn't this a Jerry/Stephen/McClay question? Garrett isn't the primary influencer on draft picks.

However, when Garrett got there, the offensive line was pathetic, the defense was ancient, special teams were a mess, and the backfield was Barber and Jones.

Rome wasn't built in a day. Next offseason will be ALL defense.

After 4 years, rookie contracts expire. Results should be within 1-3 years max

Does anybody actually believe Mike McCarthy or any Packers fan is sitting around in 2016 thinking about how their roster in 2010 or 2011 is affecting them right now? My God...I can't..... :lmao2:

Yep.

Garrett got rid of the Gurodes, Brookings, Sensabaughs, Kosiers, Davises, Olshanskys, etc. He wanted a young team, which is what he has now. That doesn't mean he picked the specific players.
