What happened to Farniok?

There you go. My suspicions are proven correct once again. Like I said before, Farniok played well this preseason when he was allowed to play Center. He probably got pissed off when told he was being cut. Can't blame him.
Yep, especially when an UDFA beat him out to the roster.

That's not what happened. Mickey Spagnola said the Cowboys told Farniok they wanted to sign him to the practice squad when he got cut. Farniok most likely took it hard getting cut and just like QB Will Grier refused to accept getting signed to the practice squad. Can't blame them feeling slighted after busting their tails in practice for the Cowboys in recent years.

Farniok rejected the Cowboys offer and opted to sign elsewhere.
Where I mean where's the news everyone's asking I don't see it? I would have liked him to find his way back to the practice squad and onto the roster because I think he's a good guard center option as a backup right now..

Home Depot here we come.
You must not know the league very well to think that I mean there is guys worse than him that make their rounds around the league I think Chaz green got a job after he left here seriously I mean think about it Chaz green was one of our worst looking offensive linemans of all time and still got a job somewhere else.. This league does not have enough good players especially on offensive line or quarterback and these guys will continue to get jobs and fair enough is a lot better than Chaz green.. In my opinion he was becoming Conor McGovern and he got a job I think fair enough would be Connor McGovern with a little more time he was gonna turn that corner..

Thats exactly what happened. Spagnola said that he thought they’d sign him to PS, he made no mention of Farniok turning them down. DMN said they did not offer Farniok a spot.

Farniok is just not any good. Our backup OL in general have been bad lately and needed upgrading. The only way to accomplish that is to move on and get better guys. Playing better than Hoffman in a couple of preseason games doesn't make you an NFL player. Perhaps for the long term they like Hoffman better and perhaps for this year they like the center they signed to the PS (Harlow) or Bass (supposedly going to take snaps at center) better. Or perhaps Farniok got his feelings hurt and thought he should have had a roster spot that the team didn't think he earned. Either of those is a good reason to move on from a marginal talent. I still say we sign another OL and perhaps after week 1 when the vested veteran contracts don't guarantee.

Maybe he had an attitude problem. I honestly did not think he would get cut, but I was completely wrong.

I don't think he had an attitude problem I think that he's losing snaps in training camp and preseason games to Hoffman and some of the other guys and I think that he didn't like being cut and then asked to become back to the practice squad but I mean he just fell off a little bit and I I am surprised too I thought he would make the team. A lot of the guys like udoga and the long snapper they made side deals they basically said yes we know we are cut but you're gonna bring us back so we won't sign anywhere else I'm surprised they didn't do that with Farinok.

He was terrible. The Cowboys ditched him, kept nobodies at center on the PS, told TJ Bass to learn to snap, and not one other team even picked him up to be on their PS. Not sure why some fans are holding to the notion this guy was anything but a jag.

The team couldn't do that with Matt Farniok.

Chuma Edoga and Trent Sieg are vested veterans (4 NFL seasons or more) and not subject to going on Waivers. They can have handshake agreements to not sign with another club knowing they will be re-signed by Dallas after some initial roster juggling.

Farniok is still on his rookie contract and subject to Waivers, so he couldn't have the same agreement.

C.J. Goodwin is vested and will still spend some time on the Practice Squad to help the Cowboys with roster management.

He can be added to the active roster 3 times without having to actually be signed to the 53.

That gives Dallas time to figure out how they will find a permanent spot for Goodwin.

Center Of Attention: That the Cowboys didn't retain a true backup center on the initial 53-man roster is eye opening. That is one reason the Cowboys have informed undrafted rookie free agent guard T.J. Bass, one of the now four backup offensive linemen on the 53, to start working getting comfortable with his hand on the ball, too. And he didn't delay, seen after practice on Wednesday not only snapping the ball as if a quarterback under center, but also taking some shotgun snaps, too. Needed one of those Norman Rockwell pictures of the gaggle of reporters interviewing Bass after practice Wednesday in the locker room. According to Bass, this represents his first interview since the start of training camp. Sounds as if the backup-center plan for now is using the allowed three game-day callups on practice squad center Brock Hoffman until someone proves worthy of manning the backup job on the 53.
I read yesterday that Bass actually played some Center against the Raiders last week.

I’m not understanding why you “can’t blame him”. Having a chance to play in the NFL is a huge privilege, especially for a fringe player. If the team is giving you a chance by trying to pass you through waivers and bring you back to the practice squad, that’s an honor. Unless you are more talented than that. If no team picks him up, will I guess that “I don’t blame him” has him out of the league.

I swear, every Oline coach the Cowboys have picked up/exchanged the past 5 times has made bad decisions when it comes to the players, analysis, where best to play them, develop and keep/cut. It has hurt our Offense every single year.
I hear what you are saying AC, but it’s easy for us to sit here and be internet scouts. We aren’t the professionals that do this for a living and most importantly, WE DON’T have all the tools and access to properly evaluate players from our couch.

With that said, if he was so good he wouldn’t be sitting home. A team would have picked him off waivers let alone grab him after he cleared.

???? But he felt slighted because Bass made the team and he didn't. If we brought in a veteran I would imagine he'd accept the assignment.

He stinks, is what happened.

I actually thought they'd keep him just because he's the only backup C with any experience.

What happened to him?

I thought he was significantly better than Hoffman.

Did he decline Cowboys practice squad or did they not offer him a spot?
My impression was that he was talked about much more favorably among fans than anywhere else. I suspect fans came to think of him as more than he is.

I don't think he did.

Mickey said T.J. Bass was just told to start learning to put his hand on the football following the cut to 53.
Someone mentioned it on another site, could be wrong. Either way, it makes sense to cross train Bass.
