What happened to the big plans for Dunbar and Escobar

What's wrong with suggesting "getting better" and "improving everyday"? After all, isn't that what JG has been preaching past few years?

Not anything wrong with those two things. If that's what were going on.

then watch dunbar go to philly or NO (you know, a real coach) and tear it up

that could very well happen, but i see more of a felix jones future for Dunbar. I think its just realizing, hes not that good. Or you can find the equal at a better price.

This was not a negative post.

I wasn't referring particularly to your OP. But some of the early responses there were pretty negative. The real issue is there's only one ball to go around, and we're getting good results with Dez and the running game right now. I'm sure there will be games this year where the role players contribute more than they're contributing right now.

I think people are going to realize, Dunbar isnt as good as the people think Dunbar is. I think the people on Clairborne are coming around to that fact on him as well.

I'm there.

And I also believe that were Murray to get hurt, it would result in Randle, not Dunbar getting the carries and Williams being brought up from the practice squad.

Which, again, makes me question why Dunbar is still here.

I am very close to declaring Escobar a bust and putting him in Martellus Bennett category of 'completely unnecessary draft selections' Thats now two 2nd round draft picks on position that has been fine for years with HOF TE.

Actually three counting Anthony Fasano...

Fasano was still in the league. While hes not great, wasnt thrown out like some players. Again, another team knew what to do with him and what to expect. That one is on parcells.

Escobar has had injury problems -- first a shoulder, then a knee problem that's just now coming around. Dunbar hasn't done much with the opportunities afforded him lately. Until he shows something more encouraging, he'll more than likely continue to ride pine. Those two players were being hyped pretty liberally in the offseason. Having hype coming your way and living up to it are, unfortunately, two different things. Let's hope they both snap out of their doldrums and escape the dreaded designations of being bench jockeys sometime soon.

Murray is beasting right now and I believe in using the hot hand. Right now Gavin looks like a wasted pick.

News from training camp was how these guys would have a much bigger role in the offense.

Dunbar was protected in the preseason like a veteran then barely used in the regular season.

Escobar has two or so catches.

There were about 74 snaps available when you take out the snaps for RBs, Witten, Dez and T. Williams.

24 Beasley 32.43%
18 Escobar 24.32%
16 Hanna 21.62%
10 Clutts 13.51%
4 Harris 5.41%

There's only one football. The offense is Dez, Terrance, Beasley and Demarco with some Randle to fill in at times. No reason to over complicate things.
I feel like somebody's missing from this list. Someone with the initials "BFF".

News from when Linehan was brought on board was that, like Megatron, they were going to use their best players, i.e. Dez Bryant. As long as they are using Dez and Murray as the primary focus, with a bunch of play-action, I'm happy.

100% agree

the original plan was to make him a 3rd down back but he cant pick up the blitz at all and teams are blitzing us like crazy.

Escobar was a waste of a draft pick, he might be a really good TE but sitting behind Witten we'll never know

The Cowboys remind me of that "Brawler" that tells everyone he's going to be technical in his next fight. Then fight night comes, and he's dancing around for the first couple of rounds. Next thing you know, his opponent lands a nice one and all that nonsense he was talking all through his camp goes out the window. He bites down on his mouthpiece and starts swinging his arms like windmills.

We aren't good enough to do things we hope work, we have to do what we know works. We talk a lot of crap all offseason, but once the heat is on, you do what you know.

Yeah like run the ball. Heard all this talk about how we would stick to a commitment to run the ball...all training camp long. But now we are just out there with Tony slinging it and throwing windmills!

Disgusting.

They went to the same place the big plans for Fasano and Bennent went -- at least Escobar's did.

news from whom? random fans? some schmuck reporter who is trying to sell clicks? dunbar can't pass block and he is a liability to romo. he has to be able to pass block better, because if he is in the game and he runs routes every time, then teams will pick up on that and counter against it easily.

I am little surprised about escobar. but I think at this point he is not seeing a lot of plays because of our commitment to the run game and escobar is not that good blocking.
