What happens to the QB position now?

Haven't they already done that? It's the peanut gallery media and social media that is creating this "limbo" you speak of. Ignore the peanut gallery, the long-term contract will get done.
"Will get done" is not definitive. An actual signing or dissolving of their professional relationship (e.g. trade, waiver, etc.) is definitive.

What I or anyone else says or speculates about the contract negotiations is entirely irrelevant. The only relevant thing is what has not yet happened. That said, I have stated since 2016 Jones had completely committed to Prescott and that he would sign Prescott a franchise quarterback level contract eventually. My personal expectation is that an agreement would have been done already. It has not but that is my problem, not Jones or Prescott's.

Happy New Year Zoners. This season is ending on a high but low note for me. Week 17 will have some excitement but winning 3 in a row really takes Dallas out of contention to draft a top QB. Worst case scenario seems likely - Dallas and Washington both win. So the draft pick ends up in the 9-12 area, I guess. Definitely no QB there. No Surtain. No Parsons. Oh well. Biggest question is the QB. Seems like the choices are:

1. Tag Dak for 2021 and let him play out that contract

2. Trade Dak knowing the value is down given the injury and ATL likely grabs Wilson

3. Sign Dak LT - there will be no bargain there

If you go with #2 is Dalton your guy?

Why some here just don't get it that Jerry and Stephen have both said so many times that Prescott his their QB and trading him is not an option. Lawrence was tagged a second time and then a week later signed a long term contract, so to keep Prescott off the free agent market and they tag him again DOES NOT mean a long term contract won't be signed. Dalton won't be had for another 3 mil contract but he also won't get the 15-18 mil contract that some here said he will get from some team. Dalton had one really good game, the eagles game, and that one game is not going to propel him to a 15-18 mil contract. He can't escape going winless in playoff games during his 1st 9 years in the league.

Agreed. Now which QB’s do you think are elite franchise worthy to be picked?
If I or any GM in the NFL had that answer we'd be making millions......You have to roll the dice at this one. Montana and Brady were late rounders.......Look at someone to develop, not take the first snap of 2021.

i expect dak will be just as intractible this year as last year when it comes to getting a deal done. there won't be any home town discount. signing him long term, imo, remains just as problematic after this year as it was last year. probably tagged again. we wanted him last year. he said he wanted to be here last year. but at the end of the day, it didnt happen.

If you haven't seen the improvement from Dak from an accuracy standpoint as well as pocket presence, then you simply aren't good at evaluating football play at all.
Accuracy? Every receiver has to practically do a full body twist to catch his passes. How many highlight reels show him hitting guys deep full stride catching in front without having to come back to him? How many amazing highlights show him putting that ball on the outside of the receiver along the sideline where only he has a chance to catch it? Dalton has done that this year.......

Prescott is in the conversation for best Cowboys QB ever and we've had Roger Staubach, Troy Aikman, Danny White and Tony Romo.
What? He's not even Top 4 at the moment since you already named 4 better.

I like the Dalton as the bridge to the rookie in a year template.

He's been top 5 in QBR, in 3 of his 4 seasons lmao. Was also #1 in QBR and #4 in QBR his two playoff appearances. Yes, you can pay him.
He's not Mahomes or even close.......not even Wilson. Those guys are proven winners. The SB last year proved what Mahomes brings to the table.

Teams say stuff all the time and then do the opposite. I hope your not taking everything Ol Jerruh says literally.

You are wrong. It’s worse. The virus and its economic impact will put a lid on the salary cap. The growth rate will be down for a few years.

Yes he's not Mahomes, nobody is. Captain obvious.

What the hell does your response have to do with what was said? LMAO

Ahh we've now resorted to completely making **** up I see, lol

if, science willing, the vaccine is successful, the growth rate will only be affected one year. jmo. but the battle for the pie will not change this year.

Don't know why you listed point #2 - pure speculation
-Can't trade Prescott, he is a FA once this season ends.
'Trade Dak knowing the value is down given the injury and ATL likely grabs Wilson'
- Wow....the man is still rehabbing, yet Whyjerry knows Prescott will not fully recover---but another team will want him anyway; Atlanta in the process of getting their next GM and Coach, plus the Falcons are not yet a lock at #3--and if there, getting a QB is a priority

For the record. I love Dak. Jerry wasted his rookie deal. Jerry does that. It was food for thought but some on this Forum can be very literal. It’s sad actually.

Unfortunately, I'll go with #2 and sign Dalton short term. However, if #3 happens, that means Jerry and Dak came to a mutual agreement., but neither has any leverage at this point like some have mentioned.

TV ratings are waaay down. The pie is going to shrink or some are going to want more pie for a while because they didn’t have pie for a year or so.

Obviously, it's not obvious to you......to most others it is. Dak wants to be paid like an elite QB I chose those to compare, and he isn't. Not even close. Hopefully that helps bring things into focus for you.

None of the trophies in the background have his stats on them.....but the smile was great....and not a peep from the board when it happened.

Talk about distorting the truth.

Isn't that what we do here?......there wouldn't be any threads or replies. But we can agree.....JJ smiling and signing Tony's contract in the pic. Optics right.

I don't have rose colored Dak blinders on. He didn't step up last year when counted on......losing to Philly makes him a Romo redux. The postseason matters in the NFL, and he isn't taking his team there. Next!
