What if Chaz Green didn't have injury issues

It depends on where Collins plays. They will give Collins some snaps at both OT and OG in the OTAs/mini-camp and maybe the first week of TC, but after that they'll likely have him focus on either OG or OT. If he really focuses on OG as many believe, then Green is most likely the Swing OT. If Collins wins the LG job, and one of the OTs gets injured, I don't think they would move Collins to OT at that point. Green would have to step up and play OT.

I just chuckle that you are just banking on Collins being the antidote to the Free virus you hate so much.

Glad we can invest a third round choice on a player that won't contribute any time soon.

It's called drafting the best player available.

It's also called not being a psychic and knowing you're going to land Collins.

You're on a roll.

You can never have too many good OL so I'm fine with it. Besides I'm sure the Cowboys would've attacked the draft differently had they known they would acquire arguably a top 10 OL talent only days after the draft.

I don't have much concern that Green can be the next Parnell or Weems. Just not counting on him for much beyond that.

Hmm. Player has an affirmed history of injuries and being soft.

Leaves both practices at rookie minicamp with minor nicks.

Yeah, just unreasonable.

You: oft injured player is a reach that I must support. Leave brain at door.

In fact, the idea this player left for issues in a "non-contact" rookie mini-camp?

That tells me he is not only soft but poorly conditioned as well.

Since when is being injured and being soft become synonyms? Hint: never.

Also Randy had issues day 1. Time to cut him

Please just stop.

Tier 1:
1 5 Brandon Scherff
1 9 Ereck Flowers
1 13 Andrus Peat
1 21 Cedric Ogbuehi
1 24 D. J. Humphries - Might be as good as any of them.
La'el Collins would be in Tier 1 also.

Tier 2:
2 34 Donovan Smith - High upside with overwhelming size, needs some work on technique.
2 53 Jake Fisher
Without the injury issues, Green should be about here:

Tier 3:
2 57 Rob Havenstein - Stiff and not overly athletic. Received better coaching than some others.
2 59 Ty Sambrailo
3 72 Jamon Brown

3 91 Chaz Green

Tier 4:
4 102 Daryl Williams

IMO, without the injury issues, Green could be in tier 2 or definitely at the top of tier 3. I can easily see Green being better than all of the players in tier 3.

There was a big drop between Green and Daryl Williams in Tier 4 because Williams probably needs to move to Guard in the NFL.

Side note: La'ell Collins was a better college player than #9 pick Ereck Flowers, IMO. I can see some teams liking FLowers better as prospect due overwhelming size and more length, but in college I thought Collins was generally better. They both look like RTs in the NFL to me.

Xwalker this can't be true. @Risen Star assured me injuries did not impact Green's draft stock.

It's called drafting the best player available.

Take a good look at every single player picked after Green. Are you willing to say, point blank, he was the best prospect regardless of position? Because that is what you are saying when you invoke the BPA.

He was BPATAFAN. Best player available that also filled a need.

They wanted a swing tackle, they took the one player that had that high to fill the vacancy.

I dont think Green would be ready this year,he needs to get stronger and more importantly keep his stamina for a whole game as the OL rotation at Florida did not do him any favors.

It was either Jerry or Garrett that said Green was at the top of their draft board at the time they picked him. So I would say they drafted BPA, but of course I am sure you are privy to their draft board and inner workings and not talking out of your...

Without the injury issue we wouldn't have been lucky enough to draft Green. He would have been long gone by 91.

I don't have much concern that Green can be the next Parnell or Weems. Just not counting on him for much beyond that.

The success rate of 3rd round draft picks is probably around 40%. If Green can prove to be good enough to push for playing time and ultimately land a pretty good contract via free agency like Parnell, I'd have to consider the pick a hit for Dallas.

Let's give the guy a training camp. We have NO idea what this kid can/will do, one way or the other. I feel like we're defining his career after he struggled a bit in the first 5-6 practices.

Honest question....would anyone feel differently if Green looked like Anthony Munoz in those first few practices?

I guess since Gregory left he's a waisted pick too. Oh and don't forget dez at his rookie minicamps. Throwing up and having to take plays off. Smh

I have no idea what you're asking.

You have this huge signature which depicts a pl;ay where Murray had a huge hole and then the text suggests this was thew norm. False advertise much?

Did green leave practice for injuries or dehydration

Cramping in his calf. Keep in mind he had already done a walkthrough in the morning and a training session with Woicik in addition to the meetings before that practice.

When OTA's and minicamps go on and he is not improving then I will be concerned but these rookie practices are about setting expectations and our coaches push and coach hard as heck as opposed to say Coach Cupcake. They let them hydrate but they cannot take a knee and they cannot take off their helmets. Gregory and several others had issues as well that are not getting as much play.

Stuff like this is the foundation they set in building a physical football team that will win the los and finish games. Green may not get his head above water and he has a long way to go but I am not going to worry about it yet.

So, let me get this straight.

We are playing a make believe game in this thread.

How much of a steal did we get if the player that has a recordable history of injury issues just never really really had them?

LOL

It is just par for the course I guess.

Our backs led the league in average yards before contact. I don't know if that is the new norm but all the starters are returning and we added talent to the squad. If Escobar gets stronger and Collins hits then it might be significantly better.
