What if we drafted Ramsey, would Darius had rushed for 1400 yds?

With the guys we drafted this year We get to have our cake and eat it too. Rejoice

Except we burned a top 4 pick on a player who is already being paid near the top of his position group, who we have to baby so he doesn't get injured like his position usually does and who is extremely unlikely to be worth his second contract.

I'm in the investment business. I manage 10 figures worth of assets. Zeke is a bad long term investment unless he turns out to be one of the best players at his position over the last 20 years AND stays healthy for a decade.

Zeke is one of the highest paid players at his position. That should tell you all you need to know about the excess value we're throwing away on a top 4 pick.

Im quite aware. I just don't care anymore. He's here, he's awesome, and the team is better for it. Brown doesn't have to compare to Jaylon, he has to do his job and contribute to the team. He's good enough (with the addition of zeke) that I don't care about Ramsey at all. I was pounding the table for him from the second Romo went down in 15, so far as to be furious over our 4th win as it might cost us our chance to get him. Fast forward a year and he's an afterthought

That's cool. We luckily hedged that overpriced investment with a 4th round franchise qb. You're arguing over the pick (which I agree with) I'm saying oh well. Sometimes the wrong choice still yields the right results. Zeke being one of the highest paid backs really doesn't mean much to me at all considering backs don't get paid premium money anyway.

The fetish, dreams and desires to want cornerbacks on this board is just scary with certain fans.

And not to minimize your expertise on investment, but the guys who drafted zeke run a professional football franchise for a living. I understand your take, and respect your opinion. I have my own and am also allowing the results to fill in any gaps / reservations.

LET. IT. GO. ALREADY. pleasssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

and the answer is no, the 7th round pick that has done absolutely nothing would not have run for 1400 yards.
Are you really comparing Zeke to Jackson?

Darius Jackson was a wasted draft pick because he wasn't good enough to hold a place on this team. The idea that this offensive line can make any back look great is absurd. Jackson is just looking to make an NFL roster at this point.

Wasn't good enough! 13 teams put a claim in on Jackson when the Cowboy released him, that's not common in the NFL and the ONLY reason he was waived was to make room on the roster for Dunbar, who should have been waived since he wasn't going to be back this year anyway and sees the field for one or two plays a game....And for all those who whine and complained about McFadden, he had 1200 yards in 11 games he started after Mr left some meat on the bone was cut behind this offensive line and everyone thought he was done.....if the offensive line doesn't make holes for a back, it doesn't matter how good the back is so the offensive line has a lot to do with it....no holes, no yards!! So the Cowboys are in the position of looking for a young back to develop when they already had one, it was a dumb move to waive Jackson last year to keep Dunbar IMO

Leading up to the draft I my pick was Ramsey. I felt he was a top player who would make an impact. As for Zeke I thought the it was a great pick by the Cowboys a guy I felt could be a difference maker for the Cowboys immediately and did just that this past season. I don't play that what if game all I can say is I am thrilled with Zeke and think he will help this team achieve the goal of winning a championship

I can see it, a guy at the bar in a Cowboys jersey piss as crap after a win. Like... what are you doing? Lol. I can say, I hope I never meet you.

- After a 13-3 season which wasn't even highlighted by plays like this

- After picking not 1 but 3 potential starting dbs?

What a guy! Of all the things to be ungrateful for:huh:

:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

Zeke didn't transform our offense. Arguably he didn't even have a better year than Murray did in 2014.

Our offensive line transformed our offense. That's offense sans Zeke has 4 first rounders not including a hall of fame tight end. Not one of those all. Pros could "transform" an offense. It's the consistent investment there that makes the unit great.

Jalen would have been but one such investment on the defense. It's the type of investment you HAVE to make. That's why it's so dumb to hear about how Jalen wouldn't transform a defense. It's a logical fallacy.
I'm so glad this post doesn't have any likes.

The problem with drafting a CB high is that they usually don't start showing their potential that justifies their pick until it's time for a second contract. Mo was shutdown at LSU, but he was always injured with us and only started turning the corner at the end of his rookie contract. On the other hand, Zeke is making an immediate and huge impact. If we really want Ramsey, we can lob a ton of money his way when his contract comes up and we'll see if he actually turns out.

Eagles, Commanders or Giants. I'm sure you're a fan of one of them and you're just here to troll us.

Almost all skill position players that make it the NFL have terrific college highlights. For example, Vince Mayle looked incredible in college highlights.

If you don't care about level of competition, current Cowboys RB Jahad Thomas had better highlights than Darius Jackson.

This dude looks awesome. Shifty. Change of direction without losing speed. I'm impressed.

I did not say the offensive line has nothing to do with it, only that you cannot put just any back behind a great offensive line and expect that back to be great. Jackson was a JAG. If he had not been a JAG, we would not have cut him. He averaged 3.5 YPC for us in the preseason because he's a big back with speed but more of a straight-line runner. Maybe he becomes a fast power back and succeeds or maybe his limited movement skills keeps him from ever being much more than what we saw last preseason. Now, I would have preferred that we kept him long enough to sort that out, but I'm certainly not going to be upset over a player who showed that the only reason to keep him was because of his size and speed and not because of his preseason production. The only real exciting thing he did in the preseason was showing he was a decent receiver out of the backfield and scoring on an 18-yard catch and run.

I don't know why it such a controversial question for some. The o-line took a past his prime RB that was coming off three consecutive seasons of 3.3 & 3.4 YPC and all off a sudden turned him into a 4.6 YPC RB without any semblance of a competent QB behind him to keep defenses honest.

That doesn't mean Zeke = McFadden, but it does lend credence to the idea of getting production out of a lesser back.

I know its against inferior talent, but isnt that what Dallas' O Line makes the NFL defenses look like. Darius never came on the World stage with a corny half shirt nor did he pull a womens top down.

I know I know hes a Cowboy with 1600 yds on his resume.

But that cheesy smile is kind of annoying. Hes got intitlement written all across it.

1 season greetness followed with those shenanigans .

No.

The reason you don't draft one at 4.

Brown couldn't sniff Jalen's jock.

And why couldn't we have drafted Jalen and Brown? Is that illegal? Do you just play one defensive back?

And that ignores the fact that it's harder to find defensive back talent than it is to find running back production. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE 3 ALL PRO DEFENSIVE LINEMAN (caps for emphasis because people keep ignoring this fact).

Sure...keep sniffin your stuff. lol.

Jalen - 65 tackles, 2 ints.
ABrown - 55 tackles, 1 int.
