What if we lose when Romo comes back?

I fist pump that were positioning ourselves for a top draft pick and hopefully the next franchise QB.

A better question would be what do we do if we start winning with Romo.

The problem is that this is a very bad draft class for QBs.........there are no Andrew Lucks or Marcus Mariottas coming out.................Goeff from UCLA is touted as the best "pro ready" QB and he threw 5 picks in a game not too long ago.

In other words, this is not the year to draft a QB in the top 5 because there are no sure things this year............However, the 2017 draft class is looking pretty good for QBs.

Everyone is assuming we go on a run when Romo returns. But just looking at the alternative. If he lose to Miami and Carolina, what do we do then?

I think the odds are high that we lose one of those first two. At Miami (who just beat Philly) with what will probably be a rusty QB and then the quick turnaround to play again Thursday vs the currently undefeated Panthers.
That's a tough start.
Doable, but tough.

The Cowboys have. Cassel is not able to make audibles at the line like Romo is. Your hate of Romo is causing you blind ignorance.

Blind ignorance is claiming that I hate Romo. Blind ignorance is thinking this 7 game losing streak is all because of not having Romo. Blind ignorance is claiming that Romo is better than Staubach and Aikman. Blind ignorance is trying to find positives in every negative.

Hey um people... I hate to be the one to mention this, but the Panthers are 9-0 .. I know everyone wants to be hopeful and all, but I have no clue why people would have any expectation that we should win that game. We know Romo will make the team better, but the players are going to need to do a lot more than talking about improving if this team is going anywhere. It sounds like we are expecting Romo to come back and just throw up 35 points a game after they can't score a single TD against a team playing single coverage on our number 1 receiver.

I'm all for hope, but it's really sad if anyone has any expectation left of this team at this point. The defense just looks awful again at times this year and that's not going to change unless they start executing better. Romo can win them the 50/50 games, but you need the defense against most of these teams, including the Commander who you know Callahan will be motivated to abuse.

So if we lose, it really should not be a surprise, winning is the surprise now.. enjoy it for once, instead of expecting it. That's the problem with this team, no matter how mediocre they are, people just expect them to win. Last year people finally lowered expectations a bit and enjoyed winning again. Now we are back to thinking they should win every game for no good reason never being happy when it happens unless it's a playoff game. Try for your own enjoyment to have no expectations again. You'll be a little less disappointed when they lose and much happier when they win.

Not everyone. Romo will be rusty and probably sore. His collarbone is still only about 80% healed. So I have no expectations. If we lose to Miami and Carolina, we practice a week and go try to beat Washington.

I will tell you how this will go: Romo comes back and we beat Miami by 7, then on Thanksgiving, he will get reinjured and he is done for the year.

216 yards yesterday and 12 first downs. All season lows.

Against Tampa folks. Tampa!!

How Red will get a pass is beyond me!

Fair and true. But the bigger question is how Jerry Jones doesn't get booed out of town by this fan base. This franchise is held hostage by a drunk idiot.

We will see Sunday.....Romo is very good but I would not put the blame on him if we don't win on Sunday or the next game. That will just confirm to me that there are a lot of problems organizationally that wont be fixed by staying status quo.

Well, Romo will say "we half to do better" and his acolytes will nod amid much muttering and Jaon will say we can take each game only one at a time and hardy will yell about execution and Jerra will say it is not acceptable then go to the next debacle.
Some things do not change.

This season is over for us.
Play Romo sparingly if at all.
Fire the ST coach and put the rest on notice.
Play the rookies -- a lot.
Esperiment with different defensive alignments and see what works.

The seven game losing streak isn't all about not having Romo. But I have a feeling he would have found a way to beat the Saints, Giants, Seahawks, and Bucs at the least.

Dallas held Seattle to 13 points and Tampa to 10 and lost both. I can't see a Romo-quarterbacked Cowboys team dropping those games.

Your hate of Romo is causing you blind ignorance.

If I hate Romo explain these posts from 3 years ago. While I was defending him you and Burmafrd who always claim I hate him were no where to be found in that thread. Now go do what you always do when your BS is exposed...disappear!

"More has been accomplished under Romo than any QB the Cowboys have had since Aikman. The bottom line is he's only 32 and is still playing at a very high level. Had the Cowboys beat Washington in the season finale we wouldn't be having this discussion. Fans want Romo gone because they're frustrated. He's the most important player on the team and the Cowboys can't be competitive without him."

"You won't have Romo because you traded him for the pick so what do you do? No matter what the Cowboys did with the pick they would struggle to win 5 games next season without a solid QB. This isn't the year to be trading for the #1 overall pick. I would rather trade Ware for a #1 somewhere than not have a QB I can win with for the next who knows how many years."

"The Cowboys will end up in the basement of the NFC East without Romo. Check all the games the team won this past season because of him. The Cowboys would have won no more than 3-4 games with Orton."

"Without Romo you lose hope because he at least gives the Cowboys that."

"The Cowboys have a number of issues that would make it virtually impossible for the team to compete without Romo. They have an average defense that continues to fold at the end of every season."

"The Cowboys will not be competitive without Romo or a QB comparable to him."

"No plan is guaranteed but my plan keeps Romo in Dallas at least 3 years allowing us to be competitive and giving us time to find and develop his replacement."

If we lose to Miami next week I feels sorry for the mods. It's gonna be nuclear fallout in here, with only the roaches surviving.

"I know I've made almost 18,000 posts - here are 5 semi-positive Romo posts, from 3 years ago. See! I told you I was a Romo fan!"

What did Cole tell that fan on twitter? Lol.

My biggest fear is Dallas losing in a game in which Romo plays well. In my mind, I'm still trying to justify the seven game losing streak as a result of not having him, even though intelligently I know the problems are much deeper.

I'm far more paranoid than that. My biggest fear is us winning 6 in a row but we lose against Washington in the finale to miss the playoffs.

Despite Romo going 8-1, he'll get all the blame.

It's possible the Cowboys win those games with Romo but the defense continues not being able to make critical stops which is what cost the Cowboys a number of games WITH Romo during those 8-8 seasons. On opening day it took a last ditch drive by Romo to win the game after the defense was gashed by the run in the closing minutes. The Cowboys held the lead in 6 of their 7 losses but the defense can't make critical stops. I'm aware we've had offensive issues due to the running game and the QB situation but we've held the lead in every game we've played except against NE and the defense can't hold.
