Ok I will play who hired Jimmy Johnson and bought him a Superbowl quality team? And yes he bought Jimmy everything he needed to win.

Oh, that is a good one; Jerry’s decision to hire Jimmy was one of the greatest decisions in Cowboy history. It was his last great decision unfortunately. After hiring Jimmy, our Jerry went on to alienate Jimmy and admitted it was his failure. From that point on, Jerry has made so many bad personnel decisions it’s just too much work to log them here. But you did remind me that Jerry did make that one great decision to hire Jimmy and we should all be forever grateful to him for that. I will leave you with two last words though: Dave Campo.

They tried trading him on draft day and everyone hung up on Jerry. No one wants this half cripple. Hopefully he gets cut after the season.

He's not worth the contract but he's still got a role to play on defense and IMO is capable of playing good football if used correctly. I don't really want him in coverage too much though, especially on a 4.3 running back.

Not non-QBs who aren't liabilities in some way (attitude issues, legal issues, etc) and who don't save huge dollars in the future by cutting now
We are counting on rookies that have never played, an injury prone LVE and a converted safety. I'm no Jaylon fan and would trade him for a 7th right now to get rid of him but It's a $9.8M cap hit whether he is here or cut this year. It's an additional $6.8M in dead money next year if we cut him now and if we cut him next year but before his salary guarantees it's the same $6.8M but we can split that dead money to $1.6M in 2022 and $4.2M in 2023 when we get more cap space. It's just stupid cap management to cut him now and isn't happening if he remains a "team guy".

I don't think you're right on next year. Being that he would need to be cut before the 5th day of the league year to avoid future guarantees kicking in, they won't be able to call him a post-June 1 cut. They will be on the hook for $6.8M in 2022 if they cut him.

Parsons, Neal, LVE, and Cox are an outstanding group. If Smith was an undrafted free agent, he would be cut.

i guess we will let him play in around 40% of the snaps (if JJ or SJ dont intervene). We will use him in certain situations where he will be run or pass blitzing most of the time. So he is out of the way and isnt a danger to the rest of the 10 players.

in 2022 he will be gone.

What role does a one legged linebacker have?

They need to reduce his snap count to zero. Get him off the team. Stat.

He hired Jimmy because he was his college roommate. Without that connection he doesn't coach here.

Not sure how much credit he deserves for that.

Well, I guess being roommates qualified Jimmy as a good drinking buddy. Beyond that, Jerry had to make a little bit of a decision. God, he could have hired Switzer first and I’m pretty sure we get zero Super Bowls out of that. And we both know Switzer won with Jimmy’s team. In spite of Switzer.

I’m sure we can find a trading partner for. His contract isn’t egregious and he’s still a decent linebacker.

Do you get rid of MM after this year if he doesn’t make a deep playoff run? After all, this is a STACKED roster. It’s only been one episode of hard knocks, but I just don’t see it with him.

I think there remains mutual interest between the Cowboys and Riley. I know the FO met with him during our search and something tells me they might’ve agreed or discussed a future connection. I’ve always had that inkling since they met.

Can't cut him due to cap. I suspect he will be gone before the 5th league day of the 22 season. I think it is clear the team won't be playing him every down this year which is fine with me

A trade would be cap viable, but who is taking him?

We also need depth if we suffer a rash of injuries. LVE has had trouble staying healthy. Unless Jaylon plays lights out this season he’ll be gone. The Cowboys will just make the best of it and see if they can find a role for him.

Jaylon is dead woos at this stage , but Jerry will wait until next year as to avoid dead cap money situation and the embarrassment of signing jaylon

At this point i just hope they give him very few snaps. There are 4 lbers on the team better than him. Idc if hes getting paid to ride the bench. We will cut him after the season
