What NFCE Team can Best Defend Against TO!? ...

I'd say the Eagles can best defend him. By far the best secondary in the division overall and a solid front 4.

I agree with the Eagles having an intimidating front four, but you really think they have the best secondary in the division? The only name on that squad that really stands out to me is Dawkins, whereas the Cowboys and the Commanders both have successful players all around the secondary. The Cowboys have a hole at FS, but their CBs are certainly more talented than the Eagles'.

First of all, I didn't include the Cowboys because they won't have to defend him. So they weren't even in my equation or thinking.

Yes, I think the Eagles have the best secondary in the division overall. Dawkins is a great SS and unlike Williams and Taylor doesn't have a weakness or character issues that could stab his team in the back. On top of this he's a legitimate leader on the field and in the huddle. I respect him.

Lito Shepherd and Sheldon Brown as a tandem are as talented as any of the other tandems and have more chemistry together.

The player that makes the Eagles the best though is their 4th man, Michael Lewis. Simply put there are fewer questions about him than any other 4th guy in the backfield out there.

Archuleta may end up being better but he has no time in the system or chemistry at this point to factor into the equation.

It's about chemistry together. The Eagles have it over the other 2 secondaries. That's why I voted that way.

Common sense escaped me and I failed to realize that Dallas would not, in fact, have any reason to defend T. O.

Michael Lewis is a talented player, but he's a make or break kind of guy. Make a play in the backfield for a five yard loss, only to be followed by a blown coverage assignment, letting up twenty-five yards.

You're right about Shepard and Brown having the experience factor, but both Terence Newman, Chris Henry and Shawn Springs, Carlos Rogers are just as talented, and with more potential (in my opinion).

Obviously speculation is merely a tool used to pass the time till the season, where we can let the players show us for themselves.

damn, the offseason is long.

it's funny that it's only a year removed, and people forget how good Lito and Sheldon were as a tandem in '04, I'd still rank Henry and Newman ahead of them as a tandem, after all, it's a what have you done for me lately league

Don't forget Sam Madison in NY. A very good CB and Will Allen isn't bad. It's a talented division.

Sam Madison is a fantastic CB. As for Will Allen...well I don't want to seem misinformed, uneducated, and simply blunt...but Will Allen pretty much sucks.

Wasn't Allen released and signed by Miami anyway? Or am I making that up?

Madison used to be a very good CB, he's above-average now, if that, he was toast last year and the year before

Yes, he did. I completely forgot about that.

That's a shame. With T.O, Glenn, Moss, Lloyd, Randel El, Witten, Cooley, Reggie Brown and L.J Smith all in one division, a guy like Will Allen would be spinning in circles.

I think that the Commanders will have an even better secondary in a year or so. Just wait for Carlos Rogers to mature more and he'll be much better. Maybe Sean Taylor will clean up his act as well. But for now, I'm thinking the Eagles have the better secondary, but not by much.

Quote from Hos ...First of all, I didn't include the Cowboys because they won't have to defend him. So they weren't even in my equation or thinking.

Response from Kevin ...You're right about Lito Sheppard & Sheldon Brown having the experience factor, but both Terence Newman, Chris Henry and Shawn Springs, Carlos Rogers are just as talented, and with more potential

Just adding some stats to go along with an interesting dialogue ...

Lito Sheppard ...age: 25 [5 years NFL experience]
Sheldon Brown ...age 27 [5 years NFL experience]
Michael Lewis (SS)...age 25 [5 years NFL experience]

Terence Newman...age 28 [4 years NFL experience]
Anthony Henry ...age 30 [5 years NFL experience]
{Hos ...who plays strong Safety for the Cowboys?}

Shawn Springs ...age 31 [9 years NFL experience]
Carlos Rogers ...age 25 [1 years NFL experience]
Adam Achuleta (SS) ...age 29 [5 years NFL experience]

Just numbers ...correlations that do not necessarily mean anything.

You're kidding right? Oh...I don't know...just a little certain somebody by the name of Roy Williams.

You know that guy who picked off Mcnabb in week 10 to complete our sweep of the Eagles.

Oh, that's the same guy that thwacked TO ...got it! No seriously, I had a brain block or perhaps a lapse in memory -- but you're right, I should have known that!

Just wanted to place Mr Williams' name and stats on the follow-up post.

Mr. Roy Williams (SS) ...age 26 [4 years experience] ...deadly!

CBs are probably about even between Philly and Dallas...

But they have us beat at safety.

And its not really that close.

Overall, Philly has the best secondary...
Then I say we do, with Washington not far behind....

As much grief as Roy Williams gets from opposing fans for being "dirty", I have yet to see one clip even close to as blatant as this or some of the stunts Taylor has pulled.

James Thrash was uninjured in this confrontation...
