What Player From Another Team Did You Always Wish Was a Cowboy

Past: Mike Haynes. Personally, I think the biggest weakness the Cowboys teams of the late 70's and early 80's had was at cornerback and Haynes was the best there was back then. Think we lose Super Bowl XIII if you plug in Haynes for Aaron Kyle? Think we make Super Bowl or two in the early 80's with Haynes?

Present: Nnamdi Asomugha. The best cornerback in the league right now, hands down. Check the efficiency stats, there's nobody close.

You don't have to check the stats to know that he's the best, just watch the guy play. He might end up being the best the league has ever seen.

Agreed.

He's so far ahead of anyone else at his position right now, it's unreal.

You can debate the best at pretty much any position in the NFL and come up with good arguments for several players.

You can't do that at CB.

Present: Ed Reed, for reasons many others have mentioned. Complete player, plays with passion, fills a big need.

Past: Randy Moss. Choosing Ellis over Moss was unforgivable, led us directly into the Galloway trade, and set the franchise on the path to destruction.

Honorable Mention from the past: Warren Sapp

I've always been a Andre Johnson fan so he is my current,

Even though Fitzgerald is prolly a little better.

In the past I would say Tim Brown... Thats off the top of my head.

I always felt bad that such a great player never got to live his dream of being a Cowboy.

Present: Larry Fitzgerald and Richard Seymour.

The most prolific wideout and the best 3-4 defensive end in the game would make Dallas a three peat shoe in.

Past:

Orlando Thomas, wanted him drafted in 1995 to shore up safety depth, he was a solid safety that would've tandemed well with Woodson after the the attrition of Everett, Washington and Marion and Teague.

Tony Brackens, Dallas was without excuse not to draft him with pick 30 in the 1996 draft, instead traded down and got Kavika Pittman.

Anthony MacFarland, when Dallas was hurting at DT I wanted him to be drafted with absolute covetous.

Past: Jack Lambert - I always wished he had been a Cowboy instead of a Stealer. Anthony Munoz would be another one.

Present: Jonathan Ogden - Well it was recent, does that count? If not, Walter Jones

I was going to pick Lambert also. Of course we all hated the Steelers but when I played football (Yes Middle LB'er) I emulated his game.

Present: Felix Jones :) Just stay healthy this year, ok.

Staubach, Payton, Dorsett. I'd call that a dream backfield.

My current player would be LaDanian Tomlinson.

Back in 2000, I watched a couple of his games when he was with TCU and I said WOW... Freaking WOW! I knew he would be waaaaay beyond our reach and I got mad when he went off the board at #5 overall. Still think he's the best RB in the game presently.

A player from the past would be Tony Brackens. To think Dallas passed on him to take Kavika Pittman. Sickening.

Catch17 beat me to it. Tim Brown because he always wanted to be a Cowboy. Can fault a guy for that.

Ed Reed because we could totally use him today.
