ilovejerry's opinion and $1 will get you a cup of coffee at McDonald's. He's an expert on what qualifies as a sport just like Mel Kiper, Jr. is an NFL draft expert.

Judging by what gets labeled a sport I will use this analogy

If auto racing is a Sport so is motocross. Jumping in the air like what 50-100 feet or more is just insane as going round a track 200 miles an hour.

No go- still not a sport

I don't care what you call motocross...Auto Racing is a sport.

Now if you can't handle the heat get in the back with the women.:D

Here's the way it works for me senior,;)

I played Football, baseball and hockey, I was offered a scholarship by allot of Universities.. So whats the point ( That you were good enough to have a school invest in you )

Tennis was hard for YOU to prepare for. Without question? To you because you found it hard.
Oh now I understand... If YOU didn't play it, it's not a sport. Gotcha. Arrogant much?
But to allot of people in this country its not a sport...
A lot of people? Well by all means provide a link. Or at least be like burmafrd and make up some kind of statistic. Pray tell where are these people and how many are there? I'm never convinced by the "a lot of people" agree with me argument. But then again you haven't made much of an argument in this thread, just remained stubborn and inconsiderate.

Thats what makes it the greatest country in the world we can all agree to Disagree..
See that, you're right about. The great thing about free speech is you can say or think whatever you want. Apparently no matter how arrogant, dumb, and out of touch you are.

more ignorant statements? How's a torn ACL strike you? I really can't tell if you're joking or not. You can't really think that tennis elbow is the only tennis related injury possible.... you can't be that dense.

What argument? Its all opinion, Based on what you think is a Sport, Its personal. I find tennis players wussies. I'm entitled to my opinion..You think its a sport. OK I heard ya.

I just wanted to see what the people on the board think about what is and what isn't a Sport. I don't think this is a debate or argument. Does everything on here need to be that way.How about just opinion? I think allot of guys on here had some fun points and made me laugh. Its not that serious....unless your a Pansy tennis player;) ( I love ya pal ).

You have to be such a great athlete to be a race car driver that little 110lb D. Patrick is able to do it with no problem. Give me a break, some of the drivers might be good athletes but it sure isnt a requirement in order to be a great driver. See Tony Stewart.

Danica Patrick has never ever won a race either so I would not say that she has been able to do it with no problem. Besides that she is racing in that no talent hack of a league called the IRL. As for Tony Steward see my previous comment about fat out of shape NASCAR drivers. Do not judge all race car drivers from NASCAR.

Go ahead tell me this ain't a sport. I ride and have raced bikes. Your body aches/hurts for days after a race like this and not from crashing. It takes a lot of upper & lower body strength to steer these bikes. Watching these ATHLETES apply their trade is a thing of beauty! Without a proper rider the bike can not do anything. It is up to the rider to "do the work" as one poster put it. MotoGP has everything in a sport. Skill, conditioning & competition.

Tony wasn't in the best of shape when he was in IRL either and except for him I can't name any other driver that is that out of shape. Now days most drivers are slim.

And just because IRL and CART cars are smaller that doesn't nessesarily mean the drivers are in better shape just because they might be smaller.

There are no driver assist in CHAMP CAR/CART. IE no power steering, traction control or anything else. It is all up to the driver and is very demanding very hard to try and control on of those beast around a bumpy street course at speed.

The cars are also a WHOLE lot lighter so they can get away with it.
