News: What Separates The Cowboys From The Super Bowl Teams?

So who will be the best player at number 4? The FO has a hard decision to make at number 4 because many of those players at that point in the draft will be deemed "best".

The best player who fits our need.

An Elway and Aikman with no weapons wouldn't have done too much either.

I saw receivers open all night, throws from Payton were late and Cams were high or plain off target, had Cam hit a couple of those wide open receivers, it could have changed the game Don't get me wrong, I love Payton and in his prime he has a much better game, Cam hopefully will mature with experience. But the point remains, better QB's would have equaled better results. On offense the plays were there.

Elite pass rush is vital. Even when defensive players talk about how great Brady is, they say the way to beat him is to hit him. Causes fumbles and errant throws. I'm not saying it's the only way to win, but that's how Denver won. It's pretty proven that most QBs aren't themselves when you hit them. You'd think we'd pay more attention to that. Look at Peyton versus Seattle two years ago

Whenever a #1 defense plays in the Super Bowl they are 10 wins 2 loses. It would have been 11-1 if not for that Russell Wilson interception at the goal line last year.

The answer is obvious.
We need a dominant defense with a relentless pass rush. That game last night made Noah Spence shoot way up my draft board.

Remember the burn barrel ? Of course I remember. That is where all of us gathers around to discuss the reality and the condition of our favorite team. We don't reject opinions that differs from ours, but we choose to consider the validity of various opinions even when they show faults in our team.

Bias and stereotypes when negative in origin...hooah.

A reasoned view includes both the positive and the negative...but go figure.

It is hard to find much positive after a 4-12 season and 20 years since the last Super Bowl appearance. The reality of the situation is that this organization is poorly ran and it has created a losing culture in Dallas. This is not the Browns or the Raiders, this the Dallas Cowboys. At one time our fanbase would not tolerate losing. Now fans are constantly making excuses to defend these losing seasons. I tend to think that we should have higher expectations and as a fanbase ,we deserve better. I think even you deserves better. We have made the Cowboys into the most valuable team in football. It is time that we are rewarded for that.

great d-lines with a combination of elite DE and DT on both teams

Dallas does not have an elite anything on defense (Hardy not included due to uncertainty of status)

No, we really don't. Everyone on our line, even Hardy, has been disappointing.

Biggest difference between the Broncos and the Cowboys?

The Bronco's GM had the courage to realize his coach (John Fox) who had gone 12-4, 13-3, and 13-3 over the past 3 years wasn't going to be able to push the team over the top and got rid of him.

Gonads of steel IMHO.

I can't imagine a universe where Jerry Jones would ever makes a move like that.

I stop reading when I hit the stat line. Do you think a Panthers or Broncos D would have help the team this year? This team offense could not cough up 10 points aganist some very sub par teams. Having an elite D is great but our D was good enough to win us 13 games this year if we had better offensive production.

Despite the lack of offensive production the Cowboys still had the lead in several games that the defense coughed up in the second half/4th quarter. We had 2 OT games vs New Orleans and Philly where our offense never saw the field due to the defense giving up a first possession TD. The Cowboys were LAST in the league in turnover differential with a -22 in 2015.

Not being able to force turnovers and with the lack of a pass rush the only way to win with this defense is to keep them off the field and that will catch up with even a great offensive team at some point.

One of the reasons the Cowboys had success in 2014 they were 9th in turnover differential with a +6 which gave our offense more opportunities with the ball and limited our defensive snaps. You're not going to win CRAP with a defense that can't force turnovers, make critical stops or mount a steady pass rush.

No kidding. He struggles enough finding fault in a coach who's more or less .500

You're also not going to win CRAP when the offense is 30th in the league in offensive scoring with Tony out.
