What the heck was that review before the Maher 60 yard field goal before the half?

If this is true then, despite how everyone says the officials don't have agendas and are supposed to be consumate professionals, it shows that they are letting their hurt feelings or personal preferences get in the way of doing their jobs.

I agree. Sadly, I could have substituted the word “media” in place of “officials” and agreed with that too.

I was screaming "Why did you do that???" when we called the timeout. Why give the league ANY time to review and possibly screw us....have we not learned by now that The Goon and his henchman LOVE to stick it to us??? My only criticism at all from yesterday, was taking that timeout. BTW....we need to quit farting around at the line of scrimmage after a close play goes our way....get to the line and snap the damn ball. To call a timeout there was just asinine.

BTW.....this is the same league office that said there was no block in the back on the NE punt return....hmmmm.....then why was the Jet player sent flying toward the goal line??? Science doesn't lie.

It was just a weird situation that should never happen. There was one replay angle that made the catch seem questionable but we saw it like 3 times before the 1st field goal was made. I couldn't believe they weren't reviewing it after all that time. Then during the review, they showed the angle that clearly showed his hand stayed under the ball making it a catch. There was a timeout, it went to commercial, and when they came back, the announcers started wondering out loud if it should be reviewed or not. Only then did they decide to review it supposedly at the last second without enough time to stop the ball from being snapped. Once that ball was snapped and no whistle had been blown beforehand, they should not have gone to review. The officials should be clearly blowing the whistle to stop the play before it is snapped. Otherwise, the play stands and the guys in the booth need to reflect on how they missed it.

They didn't know there was even a question. Only by seeing that one replay could you have known. They thought it was an obvious clean catch.

I blame McCarthy and whomever assistant coach upstairs responsible for looking at these plays and informing him whether a given play is close or not for replay consideration.

Without question, the play was close enough to warrant a replay. I was shocked the refs didn’t call for replay initially. Then, to take a timeout and give the officials more time to look at the play was mind-numbing but so McCarthy.

All that said, I never heard the whistle stopping the play. That seemed waaaaay too late to call the play dead.

You’ve seen a play run to completion like that and then they say the last play was no good? Like a pass to a receiver, he gets tackled, then they say “we were reviewing the last play and this one didn’t count”

I don’t recall any like that, but maybe.
Many many times.

Excuse me, but I have been watching football for over 55 years, and I have never seen a play reversed after the snap had occurred! Maybe right before the snap, but not after! That's some BS there.
Selective memory, I guess. Happens frequently enough.

Well that was the big problem with the review! - not the review itself. I knew the catch was questionable immediately, why it would take New York 2 minutes to figure that out was beyond me!
The delay was the problem. But many here are acting like last second buzzes from the replay booth never happen. That's entirely false and should be known to anyone who has watched much football. It just usually occurs when teams are rushing in the final 2 minutes, not after a timeout and other pauses.

Hey you know this is a really bad one when Marcus Rock has not come on and tried to defend the officiating on this.

He is probably replayed it a hundred times by now and there is just no defending this travesty. Lol
My bad guys for belaboring this but that was really bad

See the game thread To his credit he did respond and acknowledged a really late review.

I would like to see the sideline view to see if the ref was actually waving off before the snap because none of the refs in the frame of vision were.

Mavs had something similar last night as well - Luka hits end of half 3. They decide to review and say his heel was out of bounds (not sure how they could tell from the angle we saw). Since both teams were already in lockerroom for half - they come back and put 2 secs on the clock before the 3rd quarter - to finish out the half. Nuggets hit a 3/4 court 3 to "end the half" - Mavs ended up losing by 1 - 6 point swing on some crap i've never seen before.

Not if it comes in just before the snap, or if we don't hear a whistle on the broadcast.
Right. But this didn’t. It didn’t ever appear to be stopped. Even after it was well over. It seemed like they were starting to prepare to kickoff.

Or I maybe missing when a ref stopped it so I’ll go watch it again.
