its rare to find an Eagles fan here that actually claims to be an Eagles fan.....I think only 4 fly their colors and really i dont have a problem with any of them.

the couple that come here and actually have convos are not the norm and i agree on them...im talking more in person

I hate the Eagles trolls here, pretending to be Cowboys fans, who are always talking trash against our players.
This right here.

The Eagles as a team was irrelevant to me in the '80s and '90s. They sucked. It was the Giants and skins that drew my ire.
In the late 2000s, I started to get a little annoyed with the Eagles because of McNabb and DeSean Jackson, but that Sweep plus knocking them out in the WildCard game, took all of the sting off of that.

Fast forward to the past few years, and it's their dumb*** fans that annoy me. But the good news is that they're the most fairweather fans on the planet. When things don't go their way, they want everyone fired and cut. It's hilarious how fast they turned on Howie and Pederson in a short time after their very first Lombardi. Ingrates! They now love Howie and their new Crying Coach, but if they miss the playoffs just once, they'll be on the hotseat again.

For me it was really Buddy Ryan that stirred up the hatred for me. Then the cheering when Irvin lay motionless on the concrete turf of the Vet was just something I can't get over. It's one thing to talk trash in a rivalry, it's quite another to cheer when a player is in that situation. Truly classless POS fans

I was watching a replay of the 2nd Wash vs Phil game from 2022 which ended 32-21 Wash and left Phila at 8-1. For some reason unknown to me, I thoroughly enjoyed watching Philly lose. I mean, I "Really" felt some pleasure from watching them lose. I passionately hate that team, city, fans and the state in general because of Pittsburgh.

I trace the hate back to the Dick Vermiel days. The Cowboys used to smoke this team in the 70's, fell off in the early 80's including the 1980 NFC Championship Game, which was also called the "Blue Jersey Game", on account that the Eagles, having the choice as the home team, made the Cowboys wear their seemingly cursed blue jerseys (a stigma that dated back to Super Bowl V). To the cheers of a roaring Veterans Stadium crowd, the Eagles defeated the Cowboys 20–7.

And for me, the 90's excluding 3 SB trophies only added fuel to the damn fire!
Nothing. We’ve owned the Eagles over the years. We live in their brains not vice versa.

It was the game at Veterans, that Irvin suffered his career ending injury and they were cheering… loudly. I’ve hated them ever since. Scumbags.

The Eagles were always kind of irrelevant to me. I didn’t really care. But the last few years..,their fans are so bitter and hateful and DESPERATE! I know a few, and they are ALWAYS the ones who start the smacktalk and the “comedic” memes.

So, I'm in a strange situation. For me, most of my family are fans of theirs and I enjoy vacationing on the Jersey Shore. I also have friends who are fans of theirs. However, I chose the Cowboys for many reasons, such as how much I looked up to Emmitt Smith growing up. For me, I dislike their team as heavily as I do, in part, because of what happened between the teams when I was just starting out as a fan and watching my team get obliterated by them routinely. I think McNabb and Reid were what did it for me at the start, and their current coach really drives me up the wall.

That's an area that I have a lot of dislike for them, though, I don't think I was quite into the sport yet when that happened. I do think it was disgraceful, and it's one reason that I have a lot of dislike for them.

Hating the Eagles started with Buddy Ryan and bounty bowl. That really fueled it.

For me, to be honest, Washington still draws my ire more than any other team. For me, the teams that draw my ire more than Philly are the following: Washington, Packers (playoff losses), 49ers, Texans, the Steelers, and the Patriots.

For me, Washington just because of the historical nature of the rivalry, even though we own their stadium. Packers, I don't think I need to add much here. Same with the 49ers.

My ire for the Texans drew because I grew up in the Houston area and really grew a dislike for their fans quickly. I can respect Eagles fans more because we at least have a legit rivalry with the Eagles. I've met a lot of Texans fans who are almost as classless as some of the nasty Eagles fans I've met. Just over Christmas, I was visiting my parents (I live in Cleveland, Ohio now), and a Texans fan saw me at a mall walking with one of my best friends, and he just starts running his mouth at me. I wasn't really in the mood to converse, but he just kept trashing the Cowboys in my face. I've never even had that sort of reaction from Eagles fans, and, like I said, I vacation in New Jersey every year. I know a lot of Eagles fans here in Cleveland, and they never come after me like that. I have had more genuinely enjoyable conversations with Eagles fans than I have had with Texans fans.

Do I really need to explain my ire for the Steelers? As for the Pats, it's because they have more Lombardi's than us lol.

Coming from someone who lives in jersey less then an hour away from the Eagles. Fans would be complete trash....never will I go to another eagles/dallas game again.

Funny thing is the Phillies fans would be complete opposite. Probably been to 100+ games through the years and never had anything but the funniest of times.

Also on a completely separate note... group of us(5) will be going to the Giants / Cowboys game this year to see the stadium and what not for the first time. Any recommendations on what to do around town, places to visit, eat and etc. Guess just message me to not hijack the thread

I don’t like any of the three NFC East division foes. For obvious reasons.

If I had to pick them 1, 2, and 3… it would probably be Philly as the one I want to beat the most but that’s because they’re the best of the 3 right now. Let one of the other two teams pass Philly this year and they would replace the Eagles as the one I most want to beat.

I will say, nobody in our division do I want us to beat more than I want us to beat Philly. With how much the Media is pumping up the Eagles, beating them and/or knocking them out of the playoffs would be amazing.

All of it, Buddy Ryan personifies the franchise for me and what a low character guy....
Buddy was a hire from the previous owner. It's been a bit different under Lurie's ownership. Not sure he personifies the franchise any longer. But yes, Buddy did personify much of the Philly fan base lol

Not really sure if that is the case any more. There are never Dallas threads on the Eagles boards any more. Yes we still hate the Cowboys, but it's different than it used to be. It's here where you see the rivalry being discussed the most...by far these days

I must ask one question. I know I'm going to receive a bit of flack for this, but it's an observation that I've noticed recently. Is the rivalry for the fans or the players? I ask because it seems to me the rivalry with the players (aside from Dak) seems to not be as pertinent. I noticed during the warmups last year on the SNF broadcast that some of the players on both teams hugged and such. I know Dak doesn't like the Eagles, but I'm curious how much of the sentiment that we have for Philly is actually shared by the players.

Philly fans in general and Eagle fans in particular are passionate. Many (most) of them are rude, vulgar and mean toward any and all other NFL teams. And they will turn on their own team in the same manner when the Eagle struggle. They have always had that rep. But they have more hate for Dallas than any other team. Landry's 'Boys use to beat up on the Eagles twice a season. The Cowboys would have a 3 or more TD lead at halftime. The games were just good "whooping" for Philly. The bad blood developed back then and got worse due to the antics of Buddy Ryan. How I disliked Ryan!!! He and George Allen and Al Davis use to be my least fav NFL personalities. I have mellowed on Davis but not the other two.

Bottom line is the Cowboys and Eagles are just great rivals. That is good for both franchises and the fans and the NFL. Bring on the games and let the best team win. That makes sports so much fun.
