What vehicle do you drive and do you like it?

I just gave my grandson my 2006 Toyota Rav4 Liimited V6 with 280,000 mile on it. still drives and looks great. I had it painted for him before I gave it to him. Looks brand new. .

I drive a 2016 Honda Accord V6- I enjoy driving it, I just hate getting out of it. I am used to SUVs.
The wife drives a 2016 Toyota Highlander Limited. She loves it. It is fine and there is nothing wrong with it but I prefer driving my Honda.

I just took my 2016 Honda Civic touring from Charlotte to Washington DC and got 44.7 miles per gallon. It was the only car to get me out of my Tacoma. The touring edition is just very nice all around and I got it used with 24k miles CPO by Honda. So it was one year old one owner with two years left on the 3/36 and the CPO extends that 12 another 12 months or 48k miles. I was only driving about 4K a year the moved and I now drive about 8 miles a day andlet my wife drive her car when off. So August 2020 my car goes out of warranty.

And it's a hoot to drive on the interstate. That little turbo is nice between 60-90mph. It is like nothing to look down and need to slow down. The civic is really an interstate car IMO. Everything about it is set up for long interstate driving and well done.

‘05 Evo VIII MR. Owned since new and will never sell it. Drag raced it, auto-x’d it, even had more than a dozen laps on the Nurburgring with it. It’s now just a garage queen after being my daily driver for the past 14 years.

2014 VW TDI Sportwagen. Daily driver, gets double the MPG of the Evo. Not a bad vehicle, just not very exciting. It’s a post “Diesel-gate” TDI, so I bought it used for 12k out the door.

2013 Toyota Highlander. Wife’s car. Man, that thing has unbelievable fit and finish. Real quiet, rides smooth, etc. It guzzles gas like a madman, though. Barely get 15 mpg with it.

Excellent!!! A fellow Evo brethren!!! My favorite cars!! I had a 2011 Evo X, sold it, and I hate that I made that decision. Car was a bit on the heavy side but it felt really planted on the road and was still quick. I really miss having a sports car and I will definitely have another in the near future. A good friend of mine has an 05 IX, so, I am living vicariously through him currently. haha

Back to the original post question, I have a 2012 F-150 Platinum Ecoboost. Great truck. Great power. Has all the amenities you could ask for in a truck. My miles are getting up there a bit (60k) but I just see no reason not to just drive this truck until the wheels fall off. My only issue with it (and this is completely expected and not the manufacturers fault) is when I put a leveling kit and 35s on it, well, my mileage suffered. You pay to play.

2006 Toyota Tacoma Quad Cab. Bought it as a retirement gift to myself right after I left Texas Instruments in 2006. Purchased used cars mostly before then. Putting $300-$400/month in the bank instead of a car payment for 15 years helped me save money so I could retire early.

A many of those same folks will complain about the cost of things but will gladly take a $20K loss on a vehicle due to depreciation and not thinking anything of it.

Like beauty, value is in the eye of the beholder.

I know you're trying to find something reliable. Hopefully companies continue to make improvements to their vehicles, but I lack faith in their desire to do so. I did read some great advice last year about purchasing a vehicle. Buy a recent lease return. They are required to take good care of them or pay dearly for every ding and extra mile. The sticker shock was absorbed in the lease, so you aren't stuck with instant depreciation from a new vehicle. The best time to buy is after the new year models come out. Everything is automatically one year older.

I find that the best option is to buy a brand new vehicle in August or later. Huge rebates kick in, and they're often cheaper than year old used stuff. Plus, the financing is so much better on new vehicles, you often come out better in the long run.

I get that, but money is a little more "countable" than beauty and if that money gets "lost" in a vehicle then it's can't be used elsewhere where it may provide greater service– And maybe even greater enjoyment.

I just drive a KIA Forte now. I had a Camaro and a Mustang but got sick and tired of Cops following me and pulling me over for no reason. With this KIA I never have any problems anymore.

2016 Ford Escape. Small SUV.

I've taken it on about 4 long trips - runs great.
over 27MPG.

I now do my own oil, transmission, brake fluid changes on their schedule.
No problems. You-tube is my friend.

Every oil change I add a container of the valve cleaner to the gas.

My biggest issue with Honda is the fact that they make the top two most easily stolen cars. You figured since they are always up there, they would try a little harder to make it more difficult to steal their cars.

oh i looked. being able to own a maserati would be cool. but the deeper i dug, it was pretty much a surface "cool". i already own a lot of the interior and have been damn happy with my last 2 5.7 hemi's in my last 2 cars. strong, powerful, never an issue...

given maintenance and cost of that on a maserati, i'll stick with my 300S and be happy. she's a beut to this day still anyway sporting one of my favorite features - no chrome. this one is not my car but my car looks exactly like this one.

One thing to remember though is that for several years back then, Honda Civics and Accords were among the top selling cars in the US so there were more of them available to be stolen.

For the most part, any car can be stolen, but those that sell well tend to have more exposure as well as more familiarity among the people who steal them while their parts are more in demand and likely easier to sell.
