I wanted Mendenhall as well, but the more I think it through the more I am happy with the Felix Jones pick. Everytime I watched Arkansas play, mostly to see McFadden, Felix was out there making big play after big play. Him and MB3 are going to be a great one two punch.

Both he and Bennett give us a lot more versitility offensively as both can make plays in tight or spread out, defenses are going to have a heck of a time matching up with our personnel.

I have to admit (even a as a hater of bypassing Mendenhall) that I too tuned in to watch Arkansas games hoping to get a glimpse of our new toy (McFadden, before Cleveland screwed it up by not sucking), and everytime there was a "Wow" play happening it was Felix Jones with the football. I'm not claiming that Jones is better than McFadden, by any means, just being honest about what I saw.

Dude, let it go. Felix is better. stop trying to find stuff that is not there. he probably does not know how to read his blocks nor set up defenders to be blocked which is probably why he has to make people miss while he is in the crowd. LOL

The cuts and wiggle that felix has makes for a great running style. I wish someone would answer this question that I keep asking "how could an undrafted RB keep Mendenhall on the bench for 2yrs?"

This is something that I have always asked as well " the lion cannot defeat an Elephant, and no one is sure that it can defeat a tiger, tigers are just as big plus just as the hyenas attacks lions, lions attack tigers the same way.

Tha's a legit question, but in all fairness, the guy that Mendenahll was "backing up" that whole time was the best RB on the Saints roster towards the end of last season (a group that included the #2 overall pick Reggie Bush).

It's humor, man. Don't be so sensitive. If you do a search for a thread title "We Will Rue the Day," you'll see that it's a running forum joke.

I realize you think we should've taken Mendenhall. Nothing wrong with that position. The only way to tell one way or the other is when the season begins.

I believe that player we are currently in "rue" over is none other than Jets QB Clemens.

:lmao:

I need to dispell this thinking that Jones is soooo fast and that is why we took him over Mendenhall. This shows that Mendenhall is actually faster and that Felix has just average runningback speed....4.47 for gods sake! That's not exactly blazing fast for a running back. Good grief! Yes, I know he is our pick and that we need to root for him and I will but quit kidding yourselves thinking he is incredibly fast...he isn't.

Speed isn't what really separates Jones. It's his quickness. He may only run a 4.7 40, but he gets there right now. That's the intrigue. Mendenhall may actually time faster than Jones but the fact that Jones reaches top speed quicker may be more valuable when exploiting small spaces. I wanted Mendenhall too (once I realized he was actually a real possibility), and I was pissed that we passed on him, but I'm not going to hate on Felix because I was disappointed. He's a Cowboy, now, an I hope he runs circles around Mendenhall.

You can try to dispel it with the forty time if you want but if you watch that video in the first post and think this guy is not very fast then I don't know what to say. He has a gear change that is incredible and he DOES NOT get caught from behind.

His acceleration IMO is more important than straight line 40 speed. That is where his big plays come from, it does not take him long to get to top speed!

People put WAY too much weight on 40 times. It's not how fast you are, but how quick you are, your vision, being able to anticipate the flow of the defense, knowing where your blockers are, being able to cut at the last moment to avoid a tackler. Those are just a few things that Jones has over Mendenhall. The reason you see Jones in the open on those highlights is that he's already juked his way free, and he's on his way to the End Zone.

Add to that the fact that Felix is one of the best return men to come out of this draft, and it's a no-brainer.
