What's in "the book" on Dak?

Dak will be just fine.

But come on now, surely you understand 3-4 days of prep on game week is not the same as weeks (or even months if a division rival) of offseason film dissection.

I'm not worried about Dak, but defensive coordinators are very bright.

It's also true that Dak has more time to study other teams on the schedule, but my guess is he'll spend more time in the offseason working on his actual game, not on specific teams.

Our coaching staff on the other hand, will certainly have been thinking of more and better ways to deploy Dak--and especially against our rivals.
Daks job will be to execute the updates.

I like his odds.
Dak will be the Man !!!

If I was a defensive coordinator I would start with data like his passing chart to decipher the "book on dak"

Based on this data, I'd guess that two deep safeties would not be necessary and playing the odds, I'd stack everything closer to the LOS.
Dang man -- over 20 yds, by this spray chart, he's was pretty damned accurate.

Oh gtho with that nonsense.

Wishful thinking for our competitors and Dak detractors. Boils my blood. Alex Smith? Really, you dolt?

LOL Alex Smith. Smith barely opened it up last year and he still probably didn't have more completions of 20+ yds than Dak. And Smith, barely, opened it up last year. Prior to last year he was Check Down Charlie. Dak never was. Never at any point last year reliant on pure check downs. He took advantage of them when they were available, but otherwise spread the ball around like a damned boss. Eerily similar to Brady.

Dak threw for more yards in a single season as a Rookie, than Alex Smith has in his entire career.

Thats a lazy comparison...

It's very difficult to take the run game and the long ball away at the same time. And.....like Dak himself said, don't forget, he too has one more year to study the DEFENSE. It goes both ways.

True. I didn't suggest opponents would be successful, I just said I think that is their best chance.

As a side note, Dak had the most success last year at sustaining drives when he was patient and took the methodical approach. Drives seemed to stall when he tried going long and missed because it put so much pressure on the other two downs.

Alex Smith has become more than just a really solid QB
But I agree w/ you.

His ceiling is much lower than Dak's.
And Dak is already more aggressive.
.
Protecting the ball is huge, but a QB usually has to have some assassin in him too.

Smith is a decent, mid-range QB, that won't win a game for you, but can drive the bus to a SB, no doubt. If given a really good team.

Dak has far, far more upside than that. Smith is a poor man's Brady/Dak.

I hear this all the time it seems. "It will be harder for him to have the sane success because there's film on him now." "There's a book on him now after a year of playing so it's going to be easier to defend him. " I hear those things, or things similar to that, often.

So, what's in the book on Dak? What is in the year of film that benefits defenses?

What is something you feel that defenses coordinators will have zoomed in on? What's the weakness that jumps of the tape?

Can be a slow starter. Pressure will cause him to lose his mechanics particularly his feet which causes him to become inaccurate. Has limited accuracy on the deep throw. Will sometimes stare down receivers.

The book on Dak : Dak has a below average NFL arm and must be able to utilize the middle of the field so obviously you want to try to force him to throw to the sidelines especially to his left. This is the book on Dak. Having said this taking away the middle of the field will be tough that's a lot of green to cover. I expect Dak will have a good year his yards and passing TDs should come up but his INTs will most likely double. Giants most likely win the NFC this year our defense and pass rush will struggle going from one of the easiest schedules last year to one of the tuffest this year.

Dak does not have an elite arm but this take seems ignorant to me. The only throw to the outside that really requires significant arm strength is the Deep out and he throws those just fine. Further throws into the middle of the field require velocity where they get picked off because of all the traffic in the middle of the field.

Dak had a better season as a rookie than Alex has ever had. Topped most of his career highs.

Smith's ceiling is already reached, JC. Dak's is sky high!
Amen brother.
He's ahead of the curve to start with SEC stardom and especially an unmatched rookie year. Add in his physical and mental basket of tools....BOOM
Not to mention almost unmatched offensive unit around him.

This schedule is challenge, but he (and team) can do it.
