Win up the middle.
Stay home on edges and keep Dak in pocket.
Cover everyone inside out.

This underscores the importance of a team.

I'm sure there was a book on Troy in the glory days. Problem was his teammates kept ripping the pages out.

I have not seen Dak throw deep outs routinly by far most of his yards last year was on rollouts and screens and delayed crossing patterns over the middle. These make up the vast majority of his passes last year. He just doesn't have the velocity to throw a deep out unless the guy is wide open.

He threw a ton of deep ins. And he has the arm to complete the deep out, comeback or whatever.

Winston throws darts. Dak does not have that type of velocity in fact I have him ranked in the bottom half of starters in the NFL when it comes to velocity. That being said he can still be very effective with what he has in our offense which has been tailored to his skill set.
Maybe that's because you don't watch Dak. Anybody that says he has a below average arm either didn't watch him play or has some agenda against him

I've not finished reading The Book of Dak, but I'm willing to bet it includes Thunder and Lightning and "Righteous Retribution" in it's chapters before it's all set and done.
Oh... and there will be pillars of salt included in there somewhere... I haven't figured everything out yet.

Okay, let's apply the test of logic.

Teams are better prepared against quarterbacks in their second season because they have had a whole year of video/tape to study him with.

Therefore, quarterbacks generally perform more poorly in their 2nd season than in their rookie season.

Uh....no!

Most likely they are employing their own style of logic:

Okay, most quarterbacks would improve in their 2nd year but Dak will be an exception because......well, because nobody can be that good. We analysts couldn't have possibly misevaluated the quarterback with the best rookie performance in history so last season had to be a fluke. This season with right the ship, the world will be normal again once we all see Dak fliounder.

Think again.
.
Who would be the most familiar with Dak'a "weakneases"? That would be his own coaches. In fact, last year they compensated for his main weakness, inexperience.

Last aeason they started vanilla on offense and slowly fed Dak more and more. This season we will all see things we didn't see before from Dak.

How can anyone have the "book" on Dak when only one chapter has been written?

I hear this all the time it seems. "It will be harder for him to have the sane success because there's film on him now." "There's a book on him now after a year of playing so it's going to be easier to defend him. " I hear those things, or things similar to that, often.

So, what's in the book on Dak? What is in the year of film that benefits defenses?

What is something you feel that defenses coordinators will have zoomed in on? What's the weakness that jumps of the tape?

I don't know, but Dak told the media that it's fine if they keep saying that, because he has film on all of them now too, lol.

When Jerry hands Dak the Superbowl trophy, there will be journalists who say there is now enough game tape to decipher Dak Prescott.

When he hoists his second NFL championship trophy the press will lay claim that the Cowboys cannot continue to pay the price they do for an offensive line that may be the best ever, and Dak will be exposed.

His third trophy will bring out the mediots telling us he is good, Maybe better than they think, but the team is why he succeeds.

His fourth time on the dais hoisting the Lombardi, we will hear he is getting older and cannot continue to succeed since the Cowboys are perpetually drafting at the bottom of the draft.

His fifth and final championship we shall hear Prescott is one of the best, but Brady is better.

And as these things come to pass, my middle finger will be the only reply the press hears from this fan.
This post made me moist.

I think it will be similar to Romo and the evolution on how teams defended him: line up and rush wide and prevent him from rolling out...make him beat you from the pocket. Of course, we now have the league best running game to counter that tactic and gash fools with some smash mouth!

Try to stop Zeke, try to penetrate the offensive line, and never leave Dez one on one. Oh yeah, hope the coaches call a crappy game. That's all I can think of.
But we were a 50/50 team last year. Our Run/Pass ratio was about equal so I say it depends on the play calling.

I have watched and studied Dak intensely and objectively. I rank these guys ahead of Dak in Velocity only, not taking into account accuracy, mobility, leadership qualities or other intangibles. I like Dak a great deal and as a coach myself I tend to be more critical of players I am fond of. Why would I have an Agenda against Dak ? what good would that do ? Dak is our starter and I am glad to have him. Dak has more than enough arm strength to be successful in our offense.

These guys have more Velocity: 1. Rodgers 2. Big Ben 3. Ryan. 4. Winston 5. Luck 6. Flacco 7. Carr 8. Brees 9.Brady 10. Stafford 11. Dalton 12. Palmer 13. Mariota 14. Lynch ( may see him by end of the season. 15. Wilson 16. Wentz 17. Prescott etc.

As you can see I have him rated 17 in velocity only. When one adds accuracy, moblity, leadership qualities and other intangibles Dak would be much higher however I want to see more before I put him in the top ten QB's overall.

I'll jot a note down 16 yard out is now a deep out. But is was a nice throw.
You have to look at where the QB is standing to measure the length of the throw. The LOS measurement is just for stats.
Strangely enough, the .gif shows off both the averageness of Dak's arm as well as the fact that arm strength is overrated for making most throws. And also that rookie DBs usually aren't very good.
