Whats the big deal about Jordy Nelson?

Opposing fans ask that same question of Jason Witten. The guy has the speed of a glacier, yet he always seems to be open.
It's about understanding defenses, finding open spots in the defense and running good patterns.

Nelson also does all these things very well.
Good observation they may not have great speed even though Nelson is faster because WR and as for Witten other fans of opposing teams, and even some of the Cowboys fans here can't believe how open guys like Nelson, and Witten can get in against any defense.

Nelson can flat out ball! Size, speed, good hands, runs good routes, works hard, in great condition...etc. Nelson can play and Rodgers isn't hurting his career either.

Other than having a great QB to get him the ball I don't understand why is considered a top tier WR. He has always reminded me of a Joe Jurevicius type but only slightly better.
Your thoughts?

Watch him play rather than just seeing his skin color.

Such a terrible analysis by you.

His 40 times is 4.51. Only a .01 second difference between his and Dez's. So he's not exactly a burner which is why I always wonder how he gets behind a defence so frequently.

Same question. Something about their scheme, or competition ? The number of times he catches the ball uncontested has to be very high. He seems to get them in stride with room for the catch, no jumping, contortions involved...

I think scheme has a lot to do with it. Remember James Jones? Didn't he put 15 TDs one year with GB? Now he's off in Oakland doing nothing.

We will have to let someone go at the TE position if we are going to draft another TE. We can get rid of Escobar, sure, but I don't think that's what the coaching staff would do since we drafted him in the second round. I don't just want a TE who can block, we need to bring in a receiving TE quickly.

Why do they need to draft a TE with a high pick. Escobar and Hanna, Escobar is a receiving TE that is why he was drafted, it had nothing to do with his blocking at San Diego State

Tremendous route-running combined with a strong-armed and preternaturally accurate QB.

Nelson put up some pretty good numbers in the games Rodgers missed last season.

Demolishing one of the games top CB, Joe Haden.

Has already posterized our best CB, Orlando Scandrick.

Jordy barely got 6 inches up off the ground in that play against Scandrick.... ok, maybe some stereotypes ARE true. :D

Jones caught a career high 73 passes in Oakland this season. His previous high was 64 receptions. That isn't bad considering he is now 30 years old and it is Oakland. They have been bad for several years now. Dez would struggle in Oakland. And while Jones produced 15 TDs in one single season, Nelson has been pretty consistent over the last four years. Jordy has put up 43 TDs over the last four seasons in Green Bay. That is what James Jones has produced in his entire 8 year career.

jordy nelson is my mind, the best route runner in the league, consistently reliable on the boundaries, good hands, good size and speed. Very smart too, understands how to get open. He would succeed in any system with any qb. The fact that rogers trusts him so much is a plus, not a negative.

What's the deal? Try five card straight, with Acey/Duecey wild.

What? you

Better athlete than he gets credit for, and I think he doesn't get more credit for it because of a pretty obvious reason, and it's not where he plays.

With that said, boy I swear I've seen this guy get the dropsies in more than one big game. I'm hoping I see it happen again this Sunday.

98 catchs for 1500 yards and 13 TDs is a little more then slightly better then Joe Jurovisous.

Dez is a better WR, but raw #s Bryant only beats him in TDs
