What's the one thing you know for sure will change when Stephen takes over for Jerry?

When Stephen made the secret sauce comment I thought he was an idiot. Him sucking his gut in during the Bears game hasn't done anything to change that, but it shows he is at least aware/concerned with public opinion. I can see him hiring a proper GM.

I can see him hiring a proper GM.

I question that. He is just as wrapped up in the operation as his father was when he started out. There might be some pragmatic differences in how he looks at things, but he is not going relinquish the pretend part-time GM role that Jerry Jones has made an integral part of how the operation is run.

I'm fairly certain that he is already in control for the most part. Jerry has been grooming him for a long while now. Jerry just continues to be the face of The Cowboys.

All the mess I'm hearing here but, Jerry will be greatly missed and the NFL will have lost one of the greatest owners in football ever.

Stephen has already taken over for Jerry.

Jerry is just the figurehead.

The former and the latter are equally funny!!

But seriously.

One of two things will happen:

Stephen eventually takes over.

SCENARIO 1: If we have not won a Super Bowl the "Jerry way" then Stephen will do one of the following:

1. Stephen will say, I know I can do this. I will show my father how to do it. Leading to another 20 year drought making if 45-50 years total by then.

2. Stephen will say. It really doesn't work well when owners are in charge. Let me get football people in here. Then we have a shot!

SCENARIO 2: If we HAVE won a Super Bowl the "Jerry way" then Stephen will do one of the following:

1. Stephen will say, I know I can do this.... LIKE MY FATHER. I will show my father how to WIN MULTIPLE SUPER BOWLS. Leading to another 20 year drought.

2. Stephen will say. The old man finally got one after 20 years but we missed at least 3 opportunities in that 20 years. Let me shoot for MORE Super Bowls the right way.... Than less Super Bowls or none the wrong way

How does anyone believe this?
He may have give Him bits and pieces to work on but that's only to get him involved.

I think it will be worse and I have no idea where this idea that he's supposedly better than Jerry came from. He's the son of the man who actually built the business and franchise and would pretty much be working at McDonald's most probably, if not for his father. He's the one whose been in personnel with Larry Lacewell and Jim Garrett since 1997, all three of them essentially being the heads, meaning dead-smack in the middle of one of the biggest weaknesses of this organization. He's the one that is especially close, from what I can tell, to Jason Garrett. During the tenure of Wade, the stories coming out was that it was Stephen and Garrett has an especially strong relationship.

I think Stephan is less emotional . In recent years we've been drafting pretty well , I think Stephen in his dad's ear has helped . The Claiborne pick was all Rob Ryan that's why he was fired . Besides that it's been pretty good .

Really, because that very year, a few months prior, they went out and paid big bucks for Brandon Carr. This team was thinking, especially with Ware and Spencer, and Ratliff potentially coming back, that defensive line was the strength of this team and their weaknesses were the DBs. I don't know why people buy these stories. Stephen is probably more of an idiot than his father.

Jerry is 72 years old for starters. I don't believe anyone actually expects to make it to 100. I'm am more than confident that Stephen at 50 is ready to go and has already been putting his fingers in the sugar bowl. You never see one without the other in most cases other than media situations. Stephen doesn't seem to like the cameras as much as Jerry.

Less drunken fumbling about with women young enough to be his grand daughter would be nice too.

I think we'll probably hire a GM and will be much more low key as an organization. You're probably still going to hear Stephen do interviews and express his opinions on players and subjects like Jerry does and who is healthy and who is not. But, there's a great disdain for Jerry and ESPN and the other media outlets know he's a lightning rod for controversy which benefits them. I think a lot of things stay the same, but you're just not going to get a Johnny Manziel type of situation even if Stephen really wants a player like Manziel because the media just won't care as much to report it.

I honestly think the process has already started. If you look at some of our drafts and free agent signing lately I think it's an indication of either two things. 1.) Jerry realizing his way is wrong and changing his philosophy about the draft and free agency. 2.) Stephen has more power and say than before and the transition to him taking over as GM has begun.

Here are a couple things that make me feel that way.

1.) No huge money spent on free agents since Carr. - Now I know a lot of that has to do with our Salary Cap situation, but just look at the Henry Melton contract. I've never seen or heard Jerry pulling a deal like that. The players we've signed the past two years have helped us a lot more than we expected. I think they are truly relying on their scouts on who fit's our scheme like a good GM should do.

2.) The release of Ware and not paying Hatcher - As much as this hurt me it was the right move for the future of this franchise. Jerry's previous decisions caused this to happen but I was surprised to see Jerry cut a big time player like that. Now I know you could bring up TO but let's be honest that was more about making the team "Romo Friendly" and not letting the cancer grow even bigger in the locker room. I liked Hatcher when he was here and was surprised as anyone the production he put in his last year here. The Jerry before would do anything to keep him just because of that one season as he has done many times before (cough) Spencer (cough). I understand this is a business when it all comes down to it but I think Hatcher 100% about the money and if he wins that's a nice plus but not necessary for him. Just look at the Saints game last. Ware had a way worse injury than Hatcher but Hatcher sat because he didn't want to put bad film out there to spoil his next contract unlike Ware who knew we desperately needed a win and knew he gave this team a better chance to win on the field than on the bench.

3.) The past couple of drafts) - These past two drafts have been solid in my opinion. I know Escobar hasn't been the player some of us were hoping but I think after the Claiborne draft is when the transition started to happen. No more huge trades to get the big name. This team isn't reaching and drafting players that fit the system and actually listening to what the scouts are saying. If Jerry still had the command he had in years past Johnny Football would be a Dallas Cowboy. He even critized their own draft afterwards saying Zach Martin is what keeps you at 8-8. He could tell he didn't want to make that pick and again this is a reason I think he has lost power to Stephen.

Now I know this is all speculation and I easily could be wrong. Who knows maybe Jerry has changed but I just don't believe it. I don't know what took place or how this transition started but I have liked what this organization has done these past years and it gives me hope when Stephen Jones is the full time GM.

Demarcus Ware has 10 sacks, Ratliff with only 6 starts is only a half sack behind Melton. So technically, it was a strength. Our D Backs are pretty terrible. Do they have some talent? Yes. They can't play zone, they're slow to react to the throw and they rarely make an attempt at the ball. Brandon Carr was a bad pickup for sure. His poor skill set was masked by a talented defense in Kansas. I wouldn't say Stephen is any more of an idiot. Stephen is probably a contributor to the fact that we don't have Johnny Facepalm in Dallas right now.
