I am at about 75% right now. Modern medicine has given a number of guys with that neck thing another 4-5 productive years. Moose's surgery was worse as they had to fuse vertebrae in his neck and he played 2-3 more years after. As long as there is no risk of direct injury to the spinal cord he should be good to go. But not a lot of details have been made known about his surgery so that gives me pause. I think the Cowboys would be stupid not to have a backup plan at this point. But I am not ready to spend a premium pick on it.

Ronnie he's missed games the last 3 years because of his neck injury and can no longer be counted on to hope to play an entire season. For that reason the Cowboys need to look at a replacement.

Love Tyron but they have to go into the season thinking he will miss games and plan for it.

Offensive holding calls were down significantlly this past year...something absurd, like 50%+...I'm going to be on this ship alone, but Imo, the value of OL is going down some bc of this..you don't need an elite OT anymore..if they aren't going to call holding, just get a good OT and use the new way the game is being called to your advantage

Things like that happen every year with calls. To base anything on just one season no matter what is foolish. There were calls in other years that went down and the very next year they went back to their average.

I expected both Smith and Collins to play well in 2020. Neither did squat except collect large pay checks.

I expect nothing from either of the two in 2021. Team wanted the two to put off surgery for a while and see if they could heal and come back later in the year. Both opted for surgery ASAP.

Previous poster mentioned lack of holding calls the past year. Right now, I have moved on from both and expect Knight and Steele to be one or two of the starters with Martin moving to RT. Steele and Knight to compete for LT and G.

75% is about right. Rest, surgery and more rest are huge for Smith.

He should give us the usual 13-14 All pro games this year

Teams aren't looking for starters for only 13-14 games a year, they want 16 games and beyond.

Ya I really believe that goodell got together with the refs in a secret meeting and they all agree to not call holding penalties in 2020 and then I should say that I also now believe the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. Gee you started out by saying the calls were down 50+% now you say 40%. In you next replay will it be 30%. Sounds to me like you made up a stat to push some agenda.

LOL, you are absolutely pathetic. Go do your own research.. Why don't you see the movement the nfl has been making for over 10 years now..more offense, less defense..are you not able to see those trends either? Offensive holding was just another move they made to increase the scoring around the league..but you aren't smart enough to know any of this

So reading all the people referring to his last 3 years as if that's the way it's going to be . . . in other words he can't be counted on is a bit like saying the surgery CAN'T fix the guy's problems. The neck (cervical stenosis) was his problem and is correctible. There are considerations about how successful the surgery will prove to be from a wear and tear standpoint but IF successful then he is fixed. Without knowing medically what was repaired then making a call on how dependable he'll be is impossible . . . but I can try.

Given that he probably had the foremost neurosurgeon(s) around and that he is successfully rehabbing and that I was around neurosurgery for 30 years I'll give him between 75% and 100% trust. It's obvious he loves the game, has drive to play, and is still a physical beast. I'm pretty confident. Last year, before the season, I knew his spinal issues would continue and felt pretty sure he couldn't play the whole season. Rest isn't the answer for an athlete with his previous neck problem.

Go show 'em Tyron.

Has he had the surgery? If he has, then I'd probably increase my comfort level.

Hey little boy, if what you said is true the holding penalties would have gone down long before last season. The NFL didn't turn into a offensive scoring game starting last year. Like I said there have been years where some penalties called went down and the very next year they went right back up to their average levels. No team is going so say and make their long term decisions on their offensive lines based on numbers from just last season. NFL coaches and GM's don't think like little kids.

Has there been any official medical news released on him lately?
I don't know where he is in his recovery process.
Nope beyond he is doing well. The days f knowing exactly why someone went under the knife are gone. I expect most of his issues that kept him out of games to be fixed with the surgery as Fish said,"neck bone is connected to the back bone". Once he is practicing agin we will see. I think the neck issue caused the back issue due to over compensating.

It's literally the same injury. Previous staff always called it a back injury. New staff referred to it as a neck issue.
