No doubt, they have to fix their ground attack. Not sure Shultz returns as they could of be a deal by now
July 15th, was the cut off date to negotiate a new deal for tagged players. Can’t start up new negotiations until a week before the new league year I believe!

-Lamb has earned himself an extension and he should be getting one in the near future.
-Gallup has an out in his contract after next season, came back too early and was a shell of his former self.
-Brown was a miscast as a starting receiver and probably price himself off the roster now.
-Hilton most likely won't return and go back to being retired.
-Tolbert/Semi-haven't produced much at all since they were drafted.

Needs

-Team needs a legitimate #2 receiver opposite Lamb.
-Depth has to improve as our backup receivers gave the team virtually nothing.

Free Agency/Draft

-Very weak free agent class, wr's in the draft are reportedly deep, but lack any elite prospects
-Trade Market-Hopkins (will cost a high pick and we have to resign him), Cooks (Huge contract), Jeudy (High draft pick, have his option next yr)

Beckham is probably the best fa WR available, Cooks/Juedy will cost a day 2 pick. Can use 26 to land a starting wr, but they will need some development.

My plan would be signing Beckham and a player like Randall Cobb, who shouldn't cost much now.
Trade.

WR1 - CeeDee Lamb
WR2 - Michael Gallup
WR3 - Jalen Tolbert
WR4 - Dontario Drummond
WR5 - Tank Dell (replace Turpin)
*(PS) WR6 - Dennis Houston

*Cowboys only have 2 WR spots to fill unless the move on from Turpin (replace Turp with a WR who can play WR and punt return). Draft Tank Dell adding a Playmaker to offense n STs.
*Drummond is replacing Noah Brown's role offering a more natural WR n YAC at 6'1 220.
*Tolbert has to step up, and Dallas needs a WR coach to get him to produce.

Not sexy, but I'm a run first guy. Gallup will improve and Dell could do damage with QB1. I'm keeping the salary down, and a veteran could be added if WR3 stumbles again during the season like TY was.

The agent was trying to leverage him getting Kelce/Goedert type money. Even the most ambitious agent has to see that isn’t going to happen!

Right! There’s a big difference coming off a 78 rec season and a 56 rec season in what an agent thinks he can leverage. Shultz probably has more value to the Cowboys than what he does the other teams and it still isn’t close to what Kelce/Goedert/Kittle can demand.

Houston is in rebuild mode and wants draft picks. I’d give them a #3 this year or a #2 next year for Cooks.
We cannot expect a rookie WR to walk in as the #2, and a real #2 is what we have to have. I would try to get Cooks from Houston….immediate impact.
If we are giving up a 3rd for Cooks, Houston better pick up half his salary.

Or even a veteran that can teach them all. That’s with the coaches supposed to do
You can't teach quickness, suddenness. Commanders have a couple guys who I think are the prototype of what I'm talking about.

Give me Rashee Rice at 26. He’s a Mike Williams clone. Knows how to shield his body from smaller defenders.

The draft will pay off in two years. Rookie receivers rarely make a big impact their first year.

Gallup cannot be a #2 or #3 or you are really hurting the offense...he may need to retire...he looked like Joe Namath trying to run with the Rams.
One of the saddest things I ever saw was a play with Namath with LA scrambling for a TD from about the 5. He looked like Forest Gump with the braces. He stuck out his arm at about 2; it wasn’t to stiff arm the defender, but pleading please don’t hit me.
