When Did You Realize Drew Was Done???

I knew alot about him because I have DTV and we had the Bill's draft pick, so I would always find myself watching their games, rooting against them.

I also recall the Bill's game, vividly, in Texas Stadium...and Bledsoe just stunk the joint out that day against the Cowboys.

I have compared him to Craig Morton for a while...Big arm, same physique, looks great with great protection...falls apart when pressure is applied. It's been like instant replay.

Let's hope that just as Morton was replaced by a somewhat brash, mobile QB..that we get something remotely close to that with this switch.

You know what Juke, I was at that game too in Texas stadium if it was back in 1996. The only game I ever went to there. We won 12-6 all FG's and Bledsoe bit then also.

Well, I probably have turn myself in as guilty. I absolutly hated Parcells when he was with the Giants.

What can I say.
at least you're honest :) as a kid i saw many Tuna coached gints game (family/friends had season tix since opening day in the Meadowlands) and of course i'd go route against the Gints... but even a football equivalent of beavis or butthead should be able to ultimately appreciate what Tuna did there and now in NE, NJ and DAL. :)

Beast is bored and was curious as to when others on here started to realize Drew was done.

For Beast, it was the Philly game. The Jax game I wrote off as being openning day jitters, but after watching the Philly game, I knew we were going nowhere with Drew. TO was open twice for walk-in TDs and Drew just could not or would not get the ball to him.

Does Beast think we are going to win the SB with Romo this year.....NO.

Reality is that Romo is going to struggle, but considering Drew was near the bottom in just about every statistical QB category, Romo cannot be any worse. If he sucks, it is a push.......Drew sucked also. If he shows any signs at all, it is a positive for us.

Our main problem is trying to fix the O-line and the D....the G-men were taunting us every play the other night and our D just laid down like a $2 hooker:laugh2:

I realized he was done when he was drafted in 1993.

So you too thought he was going be one of those big lanky slow as a snail stiffs kind of a Craig Morton type, you know, that can't win the big one.

And that is no joke. Just the facts, nothing but the facts.:bow:

Do the Pats have a message board? If so - how do they feel about our decision? I assume everyone agrees with it, except for that weird group of you people that think, for some reason, that Drew Bledsoe is Jesus, the Dalai Llama and the Swedish Chef all rolled into one.

I gave up on Bledsoe long before Brady came into the picture. We had a kid named Bishop that I wanted to start. Anyone, anyone but Bledsoe.

Stating that, there are fans from New England, Buffalo and now Dallas who believe in this guy. I simply cannot understand it. I say, are they dumb or what?? Do they not know football. Do they just remember the last good game and forget that football is a season. Help me out, I just don't get it. Never will. He is the only QB that gets away with this baloney. Are we supposed to feel bad making millions a year and just an OK QB -- at best.

Well, what is the statement (help me out here). You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.

Retire bum. Retire.

Oh, they have message boards all right.

patsfans.com is a pretty typical representation.

I haven't checked any out in ages, but my guess is the discussion will center on the same talking points talk radio has up here in NE this week.

1) Weren't 'we' clever to prefer Brady to Bledsoe?

2) Wasn't Tuna dumb to sign Bledsoe when everyone knew he was washed up?

and from the few Bledsoe Loyalists still remaining

3) wasn't that terrible that mean old Bill Parcells humilated poor Drew by benching him at halftime?

I'm glad at least part of the nation sympathizes with us.

Soooooo...when can we bench your boy Glenn for my boy Crayton?:D;):p:

Last I saw of Mike Bishop he was driving his jeep with the Texas plates out of the Bryant College (now Uni) parking lot waving good-bye at the co-eds.

I liked him a lot...great guy...wasn't he with the Argonauts for a season or so?

Not for at least another two-three years.

But Patrick can take Owens job anytime he likes. :)

Your statements put it in a negative light, but you are right on the money.

We were really pretty smart to get a first round draft pick out of Buffalo for Bledsoe. Did they really think we would trade him to a divison rival if he was good??? Duh.

Oh, what else. Yep, Parcells should never have signed him. I agree.

The few Bledsoe fans (in NE, Buffalo (more in Dallas - give it a few years) feel bad for the guy. Gee, this guy was making millions as a fraud.

Please.

This icon is funny.

Glenn in my eyes shines. So bright I cannot see.

Oh, how I wish he had stayed a Pat. Consider yourself lucky to have him on your field. The guy is flat out awesome.

I am a season ticket holder, 30 years or so. When Glenn was a rookie I sat about 10 rows up. My eyes bugged out of my head. He floated. He was amazing. As Brando said, I coulda been a contender. The best. Bad childhood, drugs, memories, well stuff happens and he is still top in my eyes.

I will take Glenn back, but NO not Bledsoe. Off to the mine fields with him.

You listen to 790 the Score?

Bryan Morry almost broke down over the cruelly 'untimely' benching.

The WEEI crew seemed delighted enough, tho.

lol... not really... i thought no chance for Romo as i didn't think Bill would see Drew as futile this season, wasn't sure Tony would be ready and didn't think JJ would be onboard given his FA $$$ expenditures. but that is not hating... romo is an unknown... i like his smarts and attitude... lets see how he does thru 4-5 starts.

the typical hater of tuna goes like this (mostly fits juke too)... hated Tuna with Giants and credits his second superbowl to Norwood wide right and both to LT. Pompous, old-school and out of touch with today's athletes not FOBs. Begrudingly credits him for rebuilding the Jets/Pats franchises and knew Belichick was the "expert" based on what he Brady did for NE post-Tuna. Now, despite the boys being in a state of decline since '94, tuna is to blame for not winning a playoff game yet and even worse not drafting Troy reincarnated. :)

i didn't really want Drew here myself... but the contract reasonalbe and voidable other options rather meager or unrealistic.

Hey, you might want to ask before you decide what I think and feel.

Fact is, I was the biggest Parcells' fan on the planet. I have his last book. I used to talk to one of my customers ALL the time about Parcells because he was hired to ref the Giant practices.

So, sorry genius...I truly liked Parcells. The game plan vs the Bills in the super bowl was brilliant. And to what degree that was credited to Belichick doesn't really matter. Parcells was the guy who hired him and tutored him.

Fact of the matter is, where Parcells was once confident, he has now become arrogant. Fact is, where he once stood by his convictions, he is now stubborn.

Go talk to LTN about Parcells. She's a huge fan. And she'll tell ya, this ain't the same coach.

So give it a rest before you speak for me next time, ok?

I am reading on Patsfans.com from this guy who really doesn't like Bledsoe. He says that when he was in town, he was always a big leak into the media, he was always disrespectful to the front office, and his contract after the superbowl years was downright robbery.

Gee!

Gee!

That guy must be mad.

Bledsoe wasn't half the leak that Chad Eaton was...Mumbles essentially cut that guy because he had a hot line to the Herald. Drew was no more leaky than any other popular qb who had fans amongst the sportswriters. I can't think of one time Drew leaked anything that undermined anyone.

Nonsense that Drew had a poor relationship with the FO. Bob Kraft fawned over him til Brady took over as Favorite Son.

Drew didn't get rich after the 01 Superbowl - he already was. And his biggest payday wasn't anything near what Manning or Pennington got. I don't recall the figures, but it was standard (aka great) franchise qb stuff, but not outrageous for a former #1 pick who had qbed his team to a SB in 96.

Watch out for Pats fans...not many are very bright and most are among the most vindictive ever.

When Bledsoe challenged Philly to blitz and looked like complete crap all afternoon against the blitz.

Philly game for me also.
He was the biggest reason we lost that game.
In both the Philly game and the Giants game he had sacks where the O-line gave him plenty of time and he still held on to the ball and took big sacks.
There are times he cannot pull the trigger or make a decision. That plus his lack of mobility are really liabilities for him.
Romo gives us more hope at this point...Bledsoe is what he is...Romo has the chance to improve and make more plays and get out of bad situations.
