I think there is much to be said about the last part of your take. Go to GB, Pitt, Denver, Seattle and it's all about football. Go to Dallas and it's all about the art, decorum, dancers, food, technology (giant screens). It's a circus atmosphere for selfies and souvenirs. Football is almost secondary there. I do not think that is the soul reason we lose at home but I think there is something special for the team when the crowd gets totally into the game. I go to Denver and every person/fan is glued to the field. They party hard in the parking lot but when you walk through the gates it's all about football.

Yes! This! Exactly! Thank you for posting this.

They didn't have hot chick's dancing in cages... lol

Ha good point. That was another misconception though that the national media twisted.

That group dancing is part of I think what stephen jones said was originally intended to create a college atmosphere. Those girls and guys dancing are always with the marching band.

or they were because they don't do it anymore I don't think. I never pay attention to that stuff. I see those girls dancing two hours before the game on the plaza and never see them again until after the game on the plaza again.

it was never intended as dancing girls like a topless club but that is how the national media portrayed it because its the easiest way to suck people in to the hate. again that is why no one has said a word about the vikings having to walk to the field through a bar just like Dallas.

I think that artwork has slowly replaced the videoboard as the object of some people's main disdain. All football stadiums are the same except for the trappings associated with it. Football field. Goal posts. Seats/bleachers. No players aren't bobbing and weaving around and through 18 billion miniature light bulbs strung down the roof of ATT Stadium. Some griping is for gripe's sake.

I just want to go on record as saying that I have never seen the art work. To be honest I am not even sure where it is and I have only missed a couple games since it opened. The only painting i have seen is the one outside the pro shop in front of the escalator.

Jason coaches a lot more aggressive on the road. He's still bad but you can tell he thinks he needs to score more often.

Against Chicago. Should be a relatively easy W.

again misconceptions that get repeated over and over and then people who don't attend games here think its real.

I know nothing about the art and have never talked to anyone about the art at the stadium in my life. Don't think the dancers or the band are up on the platforms anymore. But I will say that they meant nothing and don't impact the game in a negative or positive way anymore than the woman who rides the horse around the broncos game. That seems pretty dumb to me and not about football.

technology? You are going to complain about technology? I actually love all the video screens and ribbon boards. If you go to get a drink the game is right there on the screens, if you want stats there they are on the end boards, if you want out of town scores there they are on the ribbon boards....and of course the big video board is fantastic. I watch the field but for replays its tremendous. How technology could be used as a negative is absolutely foolish.

Football is not secondary. Its all about football once you get to 45 minutes before the game. Everything on the boards is about football, everything in the presentation is about football.

The other thing that cracks me up about all this comparison with these so called football only stadiums is that the league is in charge of most of what goes on the video screens and what teams can do to get the crowd going. that is why you will see the same graphics in each stadium used to promote the team, sell things and try to pump up the crowd.

the reality is every team has just about the same sponsors and gives the exact presentation. The difference here is we have not won enough playoff games in this building. The lack of a championship is what drags everything down.

and for all you guys who think Dallas fans are ignorant and don't care etc..

I would love to introduce you to the 72 year old man who sits near me who flies up from san antonio every game because he loves the team so much. Season ticket holder, comes to every game and only there for the football.

I've been to several Ravens games. They are loud and loyal. Not many opposing team fans there. My wife is a Ravens fan. We went to Ray Lewis last game there.

It's been mentioned on here already but the Dallas home fans are ignorant. They don't understand their role in the game. The home team's offense should have silence. The opposition should have to battle crowd noise.

I've been to a Steelers game. I'll just disagree with you there. Green Bay also.

I can back him/her on the Steelers thing. When they're average or losing, you can even see the empty seats. At least opposing fans want to experience a game in Dallas so they buy up the tickets. Pittsburgh just has empty seats. Their road fans are a bandwagon of towel waving idiots, though.

Having a stadium that provides a lukewarm sense of excitement would help. Maybe fly in 40,000 Cowboys fans from around the country instead of the lame "hometown" fans. Oh, and score more TDS.
Have you actually been to a game here? I'm going to assume the answer is NO.

Well I think it's easier to focus when you're on the road. You're on a trip together. Staying together. Everything's about football. When you're at home you have the distraction of your private life.

Of course we also don't have any home field advantage whatsoever. That would help.
I think the stadium in and of itself is a distraction. More about entertainment than football. You want a home field advantage look no further than GB, Sea, KC, etc where it's about football and the product on the field, not glitz and glamour.

I have no problem with the so-called circus atmosphere. Truth be told most sports venues have extra stuff. Some baseball stadiums have pools surrounding the field. Comerica Park has a darn Merry-Go-Round. Some NFL teams have drumlines, etc. I see nothing wrong with making it a family atmosphere that gets people to the stadium early, making it an all day experience. The problem is that the Cowboys aren't winning right now. That makes some people complain about every little thing. It's great having a giant video board, world renowned artwork, internationally acclaimed cheerleaders and a beautiful stadium. None of these things impact winning or losing. As far as I'm concerned, all the extras are fan appreciation by the organization. If the Cowboys were winning, all the complaints would cease. I remember people complaining about Texas Stadium's design toward its last days. Nobody complained when the Cowboys made it to eight Super Bowls and won five while playing in that very stadium. Losing made Texas Stadium somehow flawed. Funny how that works. You can be a diehard fan despite what others enjoy at the same venue. If all you want is football, park your car and go straight to your seat. Nobody will stop you from doing that.

I guess I'm mistaken. Also, they've been good for a while.

I actually went to the old Three Rivers Stadium. Snow was swirling around the inside of the stadium.
It was so long ago that Neil O'Donnell was their QB. We went out the night before and the entire city was dressed in black and gold. That always stuck with me.
You're right about the road fans. They can make it feel like a home game for the Steelers.

When those teams are losing, nobody thinks their atmosphere is so great. Green Bay and Seattle went forever with lousy teams and I don't recall their fanbase being praised then. (I don't know much about Kansas City). It's about winning. When the Cowboys do, all the entertainment and art will seem just fine.

hey I am with you. I use to complain about this 24/7 but I know it doesn't matter anymore. Just look at this board, its loaded with guys who openly sell their tickets for profit and then complain about the stadium and the crowd.

I will never understand why people sell for a profit instead of going and using the ticket to experience the game. To me the experiences of the games are what is so great. But again, just read this board these people brag about how much they sell their tickets for so there is no reasoning with them.
For me, I'm selling most of my tickets this season to pay for my flight, hotel, etc.to go to the Cleveland game. Also, if a friend (who has never been to a game) wants to buy my tickets, I'm more than happy not going to the game so they can.

Also, I'm not rich by any means. I honestly shouldn't have paid for a PSL on top of the tickets I buy each year. I have to sell tickets each year.

The REAL problem with our crowd is the fact, for example, a PSL for 50 yard line (level 2) seats is $150,000 PER SEAT. Let that sink in people.

Green Bay's fanbase is so good they had to play games in milwaukee for years.

Personally, I preferred Texas Stadium. But I'm old school. Tailgate. Buy some pennants and game day program. Drink a few overpriced beers and walk out unable to talk from
screaming on every 3rd down by the opposing team and every big play by my team.

The 'shiny new stadium' wears off fast without a championship season. I'm sure it will change for the better soon.

Your points are well taken however it really comes down to personal preference. You want to track all the other scores, fantasy points, weather, news whatever else on the ribbons while being told when to cheer that's fine. Listen and watch all the music, advertisement distraction which is drilled around 99% of the game and non game time experience go for it. I prefer a tail gate before game time experience, bleacher sitting, a band at halftime, purchase a beer and a hotdog from a vendor while in my seat and to focus on the actual game itself while it's being played and yelling until my voice is gone in the 4th quarter. Yes I'm old fashion that way.
For replay, I record the game(s), watch NFL channel later or get the details through the hundreds of sources we have these days.

The prices are foolish and unfair. there is no question. its true of every team with a new stadium though. PSL's and per game prices are ridiculous and they price a lot of the people who want to go to the game out.

My first season here 9 (2003) I bought season tickets in section 122. I paid 27.50 per ticket that year. They went up each year until it closed but never got higher than 54.

My ticket now is 100. I love it so I pay it. I understand how others will not pay though and I hate that there are a whole group of fans that would love to be in the stadium but can't afford it.

what in the world are you going to cleveland for? Why not minnesota. I was going to go to green bay but once romo was hurt I just said forget it.

Next year I am going to go to the game in ny i think.
