what in the world are you going to cleveland for? Why not minnesota. I was going to go to green bay but once romo was hurt I just said forget it.

Next year I am going to go to the game in ny i think.

lol. My brrother moved to Ohio about a year ago, and I haven't visited him yet. I kind of selfishly made my visit about the Cowboys.

I still might go to MN. I've been to the Twin Cities 3 times. I have good friends there, and a few of us have been talking about that game since last season.

When those teams are losing, nobody thinks their atmosphere is so great. Green Bay and Seattle went forever with lousy teams and I don't recall their fanbase being praised then. (I don't know much about Kansas City). It's about winning. When the Cowboys do, all the entertainment and art will seem just fine.

You're missing my point. Obviously winning matters. That's inherently implied. But even if those teams had the exact same record as us, they would have a much better homefield advantage.

Your points are well taken however it really comes down to personal preference. You want to track all the other scores, fantasy points, weather, news whatever else on the ribbons while being told when to cheer that's fine. Listen and watch all the music, advertisement distraction which is drilled around 99% of the game and non game time experience go for it. I prefer a tail gate before game time experience, bleacher sitting, a band at halftime, purchase a beer and a hotdog from a vendor while in my seat and to focus on the actual game itself while it's being played and yelling until my voice is gone in the 4th quarter. Yes I'm old fashion that way.
For replay, I record the game(s), watch NFL channel later or get the details through the hundreds of sources we have these days.

I guess you don't know me.

I don't even tailgate, I go into the stadium the minute it opens every week and I sit and watch warmups. I basically never move from my seat.
I don't play fantasy football but during the game I like to know what the stats are for the guys in the game I am watching. I pay no attention to the ads, but they are the same in every stadium so you are fooling no one by saying its better somewhere else because those are all league sponsored ads.

I honestly don't care what goes on at halftime to be honest and you couldn't be more wrong again because twice a year here we could a halftime show from some of the best college bands from prairie view and others. They are excellent. Other games we have pop warner kids playing, at halloween the cheerleaders do a halloween themed program and same for christmas. They have female survivors of breast cancer on the field in october for awareness.

We have freddie jones playing the national anthem before every game a tremendous jazz trumpet player.

If you want to buy a hot dog from a vendor in your seat there are more than enough not even sure what you are talking about here.

I go home voiceless basically every week.

And the comment on replays. You wait till you get home to watch replays? this is the most absurd thing i have ever heard. What you are saying is that when a play goes under review you wait until you get home to see the review and replay.......you are saying this to me right after you tell me how locked in you are to the game in the stadium. I don't get it.

and umm, I record every game and save them. I also record the radio broadcast each week. I record the pregame and postgame also.

and finally, yes I like knowing if the other nfc east teams are winning while I am in the stadium if they are playing at the same time. I never bother to go on my phone until after the game so the only way to know is by the out of town scoreboard.

How many games have you been to again in DFW?

I have never seen a weather report so no idea where that comes from.

actually the browns stadium is nice. I went there in 02. I have a friend who is a huge browns fan and it used to only be a 5 hour ride for me.

after all this losing I have no idea what it will be like in that stadium.

Im jealous I have never been to minnesota, I really wanted to go this year but its at the wrong time of the year and too expensive. I just really wanted to go see the Replacements old haunts.

Crowds are always 50/50 especially in big games. Doesn't matter if it's home or away... Too many Cowboys season ticket holders sell their tickets... But a lot of Cowboys fans in other cities buy tickets
Crowds are always 50/50? This statement is beyond ignorant and untrue. How mamy games have you actually been to at the new stadium?

I am all for old school type things in some ways....like these young kids these days learning some good work ethics and to have some drive.
But for football, old school for on the field rules and changes. There are way too many complications now.

But for the stadium issues, maybe it's time some fans move from the 60's and 70's and jump to 2016. Somethings are better than old school.
As been posted, if you don't like all of this stuff, ignore it. Drive, park, get your beer and hotdog, go to your seat and watch the game and cheer. And there are vendors still last time I was a t a game, walking down the aisles.
The video boards at Texas Stadium were so bad, I didn't even notice they were there most of the time. With the new stadium, to me it is a convenience, not a distraction.

I think there is much to be said about the last part of your take. Go to GB, Pitt, Denver, Seattle and it's all about football. Go to Dallas and it's all about the art, decorum, dancers, food, technology (giant screens). It's a circus atmosphere for selfies and souvenirs. Football is almost secondary there. I do not think that is the soul reason we lose at home but I think there is something special for the team when the crowd gets totally into the game. I go to Denver and every person/fan is glued to the field. They party hard in the parking lot but when you walk through the gates it's all about football.

Agreed. It is heart breaking going to a Cowboys game. Fans have no clue how much they can impact a game. The fans on these other teams realize the difference they can make and to me the games are more exciting there. I don't care about all the crazy entertainment outside of the game. It's sad but a lot of the fans going to the game here in Dallas are clueless. Next time you go to a game, just look at your section at how many people are just sitting there doing nothing. It will be the vast majority.

Whoa. I'm not judging you as a fan. I don't even pretend to know who you are and really don't care. Like I said, it's all personal preference and by your original comments, you seemed to like everything there is in the new stadium and that's great for you. Given the original subject matter about "Home field advantage", I provided my preference as an example of what I feel attracts a very strong and even effective stadium fan base. I also think there is a difference in our new stadium which detracts from the older ones who have developed notably better stadium fan bases than ours. I'm not interested in all your stadium resume and habits but certainly appreciate your opinion.
Just to answer your question, I went to countless games when living in Irving TX in 80's and throughout the mid 90's at Texas Stadium. Now that I live in Denver, been to 2 at the new DC stadium since it opened. Been to several others in Seattle, Denver...etc and unfortunately there was never an experience like the old Mile High stadium even when I had no dog in the fight. Any Sunday at Mile High rivaled NFL playoff football in Texas Stadium in the early 90's.
I'm sure your NFL stadium resume is great so I'll move on. Thanks for your opinion.[/QUOTE]

When do we end our Homefield curse?

We dont. They play in a shopping mall/ art gallery. Home games are road games and road games are home games.

Good point and I admit, the technology has added to the game however it gets a little too "in your face" in some cases. I still love the atmosphere and I guess some of the circus aspects has to indulge those that are there for entertainment only. In the end it's all about the $$ anymore. The NFL has become an amazing corporation. It's a new game with a lot of additional accessories beside the game itself.

The only thing I've been able to come up with as to possibly why we don't play well at home is that everyone loves the stadium, it provides a very fan/team friendly environment and it attracts a lot of opposing fans. There's no intimidation factor to the stadium and our crowd doesn't seem to be the nosiest. Opposing teams love coming in and beating us in our house. The Cowboys were also having trouble winning at Texas stadium the final few years. Home cooking and sleeping in their own beds doesn't seem to provide any advantage for the team.

I remember when the new stadium was built Jerry thought it would give us an advantage but that hasn't been the case. The Seahawks get their advantage at home from their 12th man it makes playing in Seattle intimidating. KC has been tough to beat at home primarily due to their noisy fanbase. It's usually the FANS that give a team a home field advantage. A friend of mine went to the Rams game yesterday and is convinced the 90,000 screaming FANS helped the Rams to that upset win over Seattle.

That crowd really got the Rams fired up for that game. It's been perplexing as to why our home record isn't better there's really no definitive reason as to why other than we appear to have a laid back crowd at least it appears that way on TV and we haven't had very good teams. One game seemed like an away game with all the opposing fans screaming. It almost seems like we're more focused on the road.

Was Seattle all that of an intimidating place to play until they became good?
Even people said Cincinnati was tough once they became relevant to a degree.
The Browns, the old dog pound was supposedly a hard place to play back when they were getting to the playoffs.

It all goes I'm cycles and the more you win, the harder your place is to play in.

But it is in vogue now to say our fans suck by our own fans. Well, it is on this forum. I don't hear it outside of this place. The criticism that is. I don't hear it mentioned around the DFW area, except the people who play it up, a few on the radio stations. But then they hate everything like many on here.

winning cures all.

Win a SB, I bet fans will start saying, come to our house, it's a hard place to play.
