The Cowboys' coaching staff made their decision and will have to live with it. Rust over risk I believe is what it's called.

Last night they lost DeMarvion Overshown and John Stephens to season ending injuries in a game that means nothing. What if the starters played and it was Micah Parsons and Jake Ferguson's names on that list instead?

Oh wait this is another pre-emptive strike on Dak Prescott. My bad.
was john even hit around the knee or did it just go out?
DO was not hit, and could have hurt it as easily in any game or practice.
I think his was just about to happen and do the wrong thing and it tears.

using excessive weights I think causes micro tears in muscles and tendons, and the boom at some point they tear all the way.
excessive weights are bad and stupid, but no one tells them that.
not a doctor lol, just my theory.

Other players played and did not get hurt.
No risk no gain.

No way Dak will crap the bed in his first game.....i am sure it will be the OL, or the WR, or the OC-HC, maybe the wind was blowing too hard or the full moon in Venus on a Sunday night. Dammmmmitttt....Dak just has bad luck sometimes.
did the giants play their starters?? if not I think 1st game will be a PS game for both teams, only it counts lol.

accidents waiting to happen, they would never have made it through the 1st 2 games
Maybe...or maybe they were injured because they were playing alongside scrubs and had to play harder to get try to get the job done.

Just a possibility, not making any claims.

At least Dak reports to camp in shape unlike Romo who showed up overweight.
So then Romo's excuse was he was overweight therefore negatively impacting his play.....so then what is Dak's excuse?

So getting a series or two in a meaningless preseason game against a team playing vanilla defense without a gameplan changes that?
Yet they get upset if MP is too aggressive in practice.

Just remember that he was allowed to sit through the preseason.
No excuse should be allowed. Every game in the NFL season is important.
Well, we all know that the only thing that matters in life is that leeblair and his ilk get to say I told you so

The thing with them though is there will always be something negative to crow about.

He will not excel unless the team the Cowboys are playing is weak and the rest of the Cowboys are already beating up on them.
But if he chokes against a good team I'm sure we'll hear the normal excuses.
Not excuses, facts.

Oh look another anti Dak thread under the auspices that it’s Dak choice he isn’t playing in the preseason. Your criticism or concern should be with the Coach not the player. Some of you are more nauseating than opposing fans because you can’t wait to say I told you so when the Boys lose or Dak has a bad game…which is obviously going to happen. Hopefully not too many times this year.

I agree... he needs to take the whole season off to avoid injury. Better yet, he should just go ahead and retire now, and be careful he doesn't stub his toe on the way out the door.
Stop. He is a Hall of Famer. Greatest quarterback ever.

Most of the contending teams like KC and Buffalo have played some of their starters in preseason. Mahomes and Josh Allen have gotten some preseason work. When you’re installing a new offense, I feel it’s important that you give your starters a few snaps together in an actual game. The harder we try to keep players healthy, the more they get injured.
MM has been around a long time. I’m sure he knows what he’s doing.
