Jeff Heath had 5 tackles and 1 assist yesterday.
I still feel Heath is not a NFL starting caliber safety...?
No way I was stepping into this the last two weeks, because his game in NO was horrible, but I'd been impressed with his range and his playmaking in the fill in games prior...including his strip of Bush in the Lions game. He was involved in a lot of plays again, today. Not just the fumble return, but he saved the td on the long Jacobs run in the second quarter, and was involved in the passing game a number of times.
He's a player who's going to benefit from a year in a training program. And he needs to work on getting guys to the ground when he's in proper position to make a tackle. He'll get better at that, and we'll have to live with his growing pains as that happens. I still like the guy. That doesn't mean I don't want to see our S positions upgraded further, though.
Why would he? He's an undrafted FA, getting playing time cause of injuries but the experience will only help him, you can't go from division 2 program too start right away it takes sometime, coming in we didn't have expectations for this guy all of a sudden people wanted him too become John Lynch, his expectations are low and as much positive things we can get from him we will also have the negatives. His TD was just being at the right spot at the right time.
I feel Heath could be all pro in 2 seasons

But, he still can't tackle and is not even a good back up? The premise of the OP was to make folks who questioned Heath's talent to speak up. I spoke up :
For a guy who can't tackle, he sure racks up alot of tackles each week.
So you are saying you respect Heath's tackling skills?
Heath scooped up the fumble and scored. Those are the types of plays that didn't happen in the past.
Not gonna say he will be anything special, but he is improving and remember he's 22 year old undrafted rookie from Saginaw Valley State.

That might be true but he will have a difficult time making the final 53 next year.
