Where are the Rob Ryan lamenters today?

I dont think it was about rob ryan, i think it was about moving on from a DC after 1 injury plagued season.

I read lips so here is what Payton was saying ..

"We look like last year's Dallas Cowboys out there! I just had a player call me Coach Garrett! I'm not Jason Garrett and you're not Rex Ryan!"

I think it had to do with Dallas wanting to move to the 4-3 defense and out of the 3-4. Smart move? I don't know I never cared if we were 3-4 or 4-3 but whatever we move to we need to stick with it. Too hard to operate a unit bouncing between systems not to mention getting the players who will fit within the system

Wow!

Only on a Cowboys message board I guess...

Two games somehow negates a top 5 defensive finish last year?

And a decent defensive performance against an outright lousy quarterback somehow means the Dallas defense is now good?!?!

Marinelli gets a pass for 'misfits and vagabonds', as if Ryan has a defense chock full of Pro Bowlers?

These claims are laughable.

His defenses stunk in Cleveland, Oakland, and Dallas. And now he's cost New Orleans two games to start the season.

Without his last name, he'd be working in a pawn shop.

Say what you want...Sean Payton was tearing Rob Ryan a new behind on the sidelines yesterday.

Oh, I wouldn't doubt it, and maybe it was deserved too.

I won't dispute that the Saints defense hasn't looked nearly as good as the unit did last year - after two weeks.

That said, it is still two weeks and I will again say that it's not like he has a lot of playmakers on that defense, this year or last.

I think this is a topic that should be reserved until after the season for an honest assessment.

I thought Rob got the gastric surgery? Must have been Rex.

The captioning stuff is funny. You guys should be writing stand up.

And Rod Marinelli is responsible for an 0-16 season too.

What I do know is that Rob Ryan went to New Orleans last year and turned chicken poop into chicken salad to the tune of a Top 5 defense while ours ranked last.

And two games is much too early to be making definitive statements about either defense.

Can we put to rest the rues and cries for the departed Rob Ryan and his full-term beer gut?

Not only did he fail to show up for his own meetings at Valley Ranch routinely, his defense has coughed up two games in back-to-back weeks in New Orleans.

Sean Payton was visibly upset with him yesterday. Ryan doesn't have his brother's feel when it comes to when to call what.

Marinelli is eons better than Ryan when he has legitimate NFL players to work with instead of those misfits and vagabonds he had to patch together last year.

Posts like this are what is wrong with fans and even the Cowboys players.

It was 1 game. 1 game. OVerall Ryans body of work in New Orleans has been pretty darn good.

If the Dallas defense gets told how good they are all week and they actually believe it then we could start see'ing the same stuff as last year.

Yeah, that should have been a td with a decent throw. That kid is Andrew Hawkins. Michael Irvin chose Jesse Holley in 4th and Long over that guy. Thought he was wrong then and can only laugh at Irvin over it now.

Oh man... I was flat-out pissed that he chose Holley instead of Hawkins. IMO, Hawkins was by far the choice and was the only player on that show that had any kind of skills that would translate to the NFL.

I told my wife during that last show that the only reason Holley was chosen was because he had more height than Hawkins, but there was absolutely nothing that Holley could do for an NFL team.

Of course, I was proven wrong when Holley showed that he could kneel and raise his arms with the best of them.

Meanwhile, Hawkins has consistently helped his team each season.

:lmao2:

Our defense so far has been a pleasant surprise, and here's the kicker, they're going to get a lot better as the season progresses.

Last year Ryans' defense was ranked 4th and just short of 4.6 yards per game by having the 2nd ranked defense in total yards per game. Before he took over they ranked 440.1 yards per game last in the NFL.

Marinelli was a head coach and went 0-15, however he does have a Superbowl ring.

Both haven't done much in the NFL aside from Marinelli 20 years ago.

We don't have anything to gloat about. Look at last year's defensive numbers. Now that Marinelli's in charge and the players have an additional year in this system, I think things will be better, but let's wait until the year finishes out.

To be honest, the NO defense wasn't nearly as bad in 2012 as they looked. Bounty Gate had that team screwed up from the get go. That defense lost its head coach for the year... lost its defensive coordinator for the year... and was put in horrible positions all year long.

I'm not saying they were great, but they weren't nearly as awful as the stats say they were. Had they had their defensive coordinator and head coach they would have played much better. There was some talent there for Ryan to work with and he damn well had better improved their ranking a lot because he certainly should have.

He had a really good season last year with a pretty bad defense talent wise, but let's ignore that cause he's started this season pretty bad and claim he sucks
