Where was Demarcus Lawrence all night?

This is where I question if people actually watched the game.

Manning had a quick release last night. It was 3-5 step drop and pass. Unless you thought every play would break down the line immediately, I'm not sure what you expected our D-Line to do.

I did in fact watch the game. Despite the quick release, early in the game it seemed like Gregory was getting pressure consistently.

When they eventually lined up Lawrence in Gregory's spot, he didn't seem to generate the same level of pressure.

How about the run game?

Did Lawrence wreak any havoc in the run game?

Listen, this is not a general complaint about the defense, the line, or our game plan. The defense was terrific last night (they only gave up 9 points).

The original intent of the thread was an observation that I had hoped to see Demarcus Lawrence be a little more active based on everything I had seen/read in the offseason, and to underscore that he really needs to step up and reach that potential now more than ever!

My complaint is one, they never stopped the run and never stopped the underneath pass. Our linebacking game left a lot to be desired in my opinion. No passes we're contested. RB continually got to the second level in our defense. I expect better tackling also.

We'll see what the coaches have to say this w

Jennings ran 13 for 52. If you take out the 27 yarder at the end that made it 12 for 25; the next RB, Williams, had 6 for 14 putrid yards. I saw contested catches all over the field. I'm not sure what game you're talking about.

This almost reminds me of pick up ball when a teams says they have 2 pts when they haven't scored cause they mistakenly counted that nice 3 from the last game. Is this what is happening here?

I don't disagree with this. Lee looked rusty and a step slow. He missed tackles he usually makes. I am 100% chalking it up to basically being out for the past 20-21 weeks of his career.

I'm confident he will shake off the rust and improve quickly.

At least I saw Sean make a crucial tackle in the backfield for a loss. He is the least of my worries. Matter of fact...not worried about him at all.

So, you wanted him to show up in the tackle column?

That's a stupid stat for a DE, but okay. Got it.

Eli passed for under 200 yards on 56%. They had 99 yards rushing. They averaged 4.7 yards per offensive play.

And their offense is supposed to be their strong suit.
The defense played really well.

The Giants gained less than 300 yards of offense and scored 9 legitimate points.

To me it not just about the stats. As everybody was saying (insert high pitched voice) "the Giants are a bad team". My concern is how MY team plays fundamentally. I want us to look like a well coaches disciplined team. Especially against inferior talent.

Defense looked good but we still can't get crucial stops.

That is the problem with our scheme... We'll allow a team to dink and dunk us all day..

Eli was in Eli mode last night.. Not making mistakes and just throwing underneath as soon as the ball is snapped.

Are you the same person that said I wasn't football intelligent enough to have this conversation with??? I may be wrong. I get you type of guys mixed up sometimes.

This is not a shot at Lawrence, but IMO Gregory has elite pass rushing potential, and Lawrence probably never be as good as him in that department.

I didn't spend a lot of time watching D-Law, but I thought the ends did well last night.

They got crucial stops at the end of both halves.

Bottom line: The defensive production we saw last night will win you a lot of games.

The defensive play as great was over-exaggerated by the fact that Cowboys offense was dominating the TOP. The first drive of the Cowboys, which ended in an uncalled PI in Dez lasted like 10 minutes.

It will.. But don't play soft coverage with the game on the line.. That's all im asking.

I thought Sean Lee looked a bit rusty on a couple of plays, too, but that can probably be expected after such a long layoff. I thought our D played well, and if the other team's offense can only dink and dunk down the field and come out of the game with nothing more than a few field goals, we'll beat them every time we play them if we can eliminate the silly turnovers.
