Which QBs would you rather have instead of Tony Romo?

That's disingenuous, bbgun. The Tony Romo debate is not a chicken and egg phenomenon, and you know it. The insane booster club got together because we all agreed it was insane this player needs a booster club. The 'backlash' wasn't backlash at all, it was 'frontlash' because a bunch of fans didn't get their expectations met and can't separate what needs to happen on the field--or even what parts of Romo's game require real attention--from what they want and expect to see in a football hero.

No, I know an extremist when I see one. They're the ones who proudly wouldn't trade Tony for any other QB in the league, or irresponsibly call JFE a liar ... based on St. Tony's word alone. If you know someone that fits this profile, get them to a mental health professional immediately.

However you want to look at it, there's something intellectually inconsistent about railing constantly on a player (golf game, girlfriend, racism, physical conditioning, trying to be Tom Brady) that the entire board generally agrees is one of the 5 or 6 best players at his position in the entire league.

Well, his jaundiced fans far outnumber his "annoying" critics, so you don't have much reason to complain.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Who comes up with these topics ...this would be a tough question for me if I was a Cowboys fan. Well for several reasons ...

- professing a different QB over your franchise QB is almost bad juju,
voodoo, bad-mouthing Romo.

- depending on the replacement timeframe, changing Romo for _______QB means learning the plays, timing adjustments, and all of those huge things outside of the
playbook that you learn as a result of mistakes & successes.

- How you acquired the new QB over Romo ...trade, previous team release,
how much do you sacrifice to get the new improved player and will the
team rally around the new QB.

From this Eagles fan perspective, I'd like to have one of those big name QBs as a backup for McNabb (especially if my QB were to get injured - you never know).

Personally, I wouldn't want anyone "over" McNabb!

PT

Agreed...And I heard Matt McBriar outplayed a few college freshman to be named his flag football's QB ....just think of the possibilities that could have been....

Hopefully it's obvious to you (perhaps not), but it shouldn't be about more people criticizing him than not or vice versa. It's about whether the criticism is valid or not.

Does saying JFE is a hack count? Because I think she's a hack. I also think a primary source, ie, a player on record, carries more weight than an 'unnamed former member of the Cowboys coaching staff' or whatever she ran with.

See, this is nonsense. The fact is a handful of noisy whiners can complain about anyone on any topic, whether their complaints can be substantiated or not. If a reasonable majority (these would be the 'jaundiced fans' in your analogy, I think) think they're nuts and say so, it doesn't mean that majority can't also complain about how stupid the noisy whining gets. The sides in this argument aren't lined up evenly. Fortunately.

And in this very thread, you have evidence that the annoying critics are annoyingly critical about a player they happen to generally think quite highly of. That doesn't smack of whining just for the sake of whining to you? All this debate is about the difference between a top 6 QB and a top 3 QB? And those of us who find that noise tedious are jaundiced? Gotcha. That's nuts, but I gotcha.

This was more succinct than my post. I'm mailing you a cookie.

True, and the same thing could be said about "praise."

I see. She's a "hack" .. because Tony says so. Of course, Galloway had more than one source tell him exactly the same thing, but I guess he's a dirty rotten "hack" too. I'm not sure what Tony's done to merit this kind of blind deference, but I'd sure like to know what it is. I guess it has something to do with the star on his helmet.

Well, the vast majority of respondents limited their choices to four QBs or less (almost none of whom are fellow NFC QBs), but the usual suspects still aren't happy. See what I mean by "extremism"?

You say you see, but clearly you don't. She's a hack for making an accusation that's only supported by one unnamed source.

Her story was directly refuted on the record by Tony, yes. Not clear why that carries no weight with you, but, ok.

Wade also came out in the press conference following the 'story' breaking and said Tony's a very hard worker and that's not an issue.

Everyone in the organization on record says it's a non-story. Which of us is deferring blindly?

Nope. I think I was the first one in the thread that mentioned that interesting phenomenon as a positive. Who's not happy about it? Doesn't change the fact that there's a group of active posters whose actions aren't in concert with their opinions, apparently.

I haven't seen one name in this thread that could do any better, and probably much worse, than Romo; considering the kind of pass blocking he gets. NOT ONE!

ummmm...i dont think so.....i would take Harrison over T.O. any day ...

drafted same year very similar numbers, more consistent, better hands and way better team mate than T.O. will ever be.....

so even if you prefer the cancer....there is no way he is LIGHT years ahead of Harrison

and harrison doesnt show in the playoffs, and why was the problemed TO picked up so quickly and harrison not this off season. If thats your reasoning, you might be the only one.

That's the key for me. Golf and who he shags is criticism of stupid proportions as far as I am concerned. Can he overcome December flops is valid criticism and I won't defend him on that until he does. I do think he was more injured in 2008 than people realize, but it ultimately does not matter. He needs to step up and win in the post season after he accomplishes a good December.

I find nothing in there to disagree with. Amazing.

If I wanted to win now it'd be Brady or Romo. Brady seems to have complete command of the huddle and you see a more focused Randy Moss because of it. You can tell the guys don't want to let Tom down.

I's have to stick with Romo after that. He's still young and has shown promise. I just hope that he hasn't hit the ceiling as far as potential. I' have yet to see that landmark victory where he carries a team on his back to victory.

If I were to build a team then I'd pick Ryan over Romo due to the fact that I see some Tom Brady in Ryan.
