Which QBs would you rather have instead of Tony Romo?

Brady, P. Manning, Staubach at his current age, Aikman at his current age, Brees.

It helps he has had Norv Turner and his system.

I never wanted Turner here, but in retrospect, I'd rather have had Turner and Rivera than Phillips and Garrett.

Wow. I so can't get my head around that remark.

That's it.

big ben doesn't throw often...

Romo missed 3 games and still had almost as many attempts as big ben last year. and last year was a pass heavy year for ben compared to his career average.

and he throws just as many picks and fumbles just as much too

True, the scheme does cater to his talents but then it did so for Troy as well. Turner has had other QBs in his system that didn't perform anywhere near as well as Rivers is.

You could also say the same thing about Brady and Manning for that matter. They have both been in the same system their whole careers, Rivers & Romo have had to learn new scheme's over the years.

Manning would have 80 tds in a season with TO.At least the TO of 2007 and prior.lol. Romo stats are blown a bit cause of TO. Look at QB stats that played alongside TO then after.lol.I still would only take Manning,Brady and Brees over him.

Manning would have choked T.O. after the fifth drop.

I sure hope that is tongue-in-cheek. A few years ago Manning had HOFer Marvin Harrison and also a Reggie Wayne on the same team. I do not think TO = Harrison + Wayne...maybe not even Wayne by himself.

I do agree that having TO (not the 2008 version) helped Romo a great deal.

Manning had T.O. His name is Marvin Harrison... but wait he also has Reggie Wayne...

Manning has had some of the best receivers in nfl history playing with him, thats what usually makes a great qb.

Brady's career is not best described by his 50 td season... and without moss his numbers are good but not spectacular.

Not only did he have Moss, but welker and stallworth that year... and corey dillon/maroney running the ball...

Rivers is a darn good QB. I really like him coming out of College.

But MAN he is so overrated at this level..
I have to agree with you. I loved Rivers coming out of college, and was hoping we'd get him. I think Parcells was, too. And he is good, no doubt. Loved it when he played on basically one leg.

But it must be nice to play against the Chiefs, Broncos, and even Raiders six times a year. Yes, the Raiders have a pretty good defense, but even against them you usually get to play with a lead.

Tony, on the other hand, plays in the best defensive division in football. Let Rivers and the Chargers of last year go against the Iggs, Giants, and Skins and see how the numbers change.

Since percyhoward doesn't post much lately, I have to remind everyone how very important strength of schedule is. :)

chocolate lab you bring up a great point.

the afc east is a weak sauce division

afc south is weak sauce too

There is no parody in the AFC, thats why you had this period of time where you have these dynasty teams coming out of there....

As of now, I'd consider Rivers and maybe Cutler, but having Rivers in Dallas would concern me some, mainly because, as we've seen in the recent past, QBs that aren't so mobile take a lot more abuse in this division and especially on this team.

What really appeals about Rivers, at least for me, is his attitude, his visible desire to win, and that feeling he projects that he doesn't take **** from anyone. He's a winner, and you can just tell by watching him.

Not that Romo isn't or can't be a winner. It's just that sometimes I'd love to see in Romo that fire and passion you see in Rivers. Combine the two and you'd have one hell of a QB.

Except for a few games last season when he seemed really down in the dumps, I think Romo is one of the most passionate QBs in the league. The guy absolutely loves the game.

I would only take actual winners over Romo. Peyton and Brady, easy, and maybe the RBurger (mainly b/c he is proven winner & clutch).

But only one of those guys are still in their peak. Manning and Brady have plateaued IMO.

Brees and McNabb have won crap. McNabb, at least, has won multiple playoffs and got to the promised land once, but I would not take either over Romo.

Rivers and Cutler ARE overrated. They play(ed) in the weakest division in football and neither could dominate it last season (supposedly the breakout year for both). When it comes down to it, it is the wins that count, and neither have shown they are better at that than Romo.

TO from 2000 to 2007 is light years better then Marvin Harrison or Wayne ever was.

And yet Harrison and Wayne have rings and you don't hear much moaning from them.
