Why, .. when I was a boy we didn't have comic books. We were too poor.

We rode our old beat up bicycles that our brothers and sisters handed down to us.

We had to work on those bikes pretty often just to keep them working.

We wrecked those old bikes a time or two.

We climbed trees, .. we fell out of trees, .. we built houses in those trees, and forts below them on the ground, and underground forts below those. Even built forts 6-8 ft up in the air on stilts.

We packed our lunches and hiked through the woods all day.

We slept in sleeping bags out under the stars at night, and raided gardens in the middle of the night.

We scared each other to death in the cemetary in the middle of the night too.

We jumped on trains and rode horses bareback for something to do.

Once a week we would watch the train pull up and unload cattle, horses, pigs, etc at the local stockyard and then they would have an auction for two days.

We could play for hours jumping around in the hay-lofts in a barn over in the cow-field behind our houses.

We made our skateboards from a piece of wood and wheels off of a broken pair of roller skates, ... we wrecked on those skateboards a time or two.

We played sports outside from when the grass was wet in the morning 'till we couldn't see the ball any longer at night, .. and got mad at our parents for calling us in for supper because we missed part of the game.

We got broken bones, stitches, concussions, ... and loved every minute of childhood.

Comic books?? ... never could slow down long enough or had time to look at'em.

:D

As much as I can appreciate your childhood, As a proud Generation Xer,

I wouldn't trade mine for anything.

We still had to get up to change the TV ( Clickers were for Rich people when and they were called clickers not remotes.)

hide and seek till your parents screamed to get in the house for dinner,

...He can change the fate and outcome of the game and any play on the field. Just keep doing the same play over and over until they get it right.

I have not bought a comic book since....around 88 I would say.

However I still have a couple of huge boxes at the parents house full of mostly old marvel comics. No not early editions of spider man or anything of that magnitude...but a good deal of comics from the late 70's to late 80's and a few before that time.

When I went into the Navy in the mid-70s I left a couple of boxes of comic books and football/baseball cards in my parent's attic. Bad move! My mom was doing her "spring cleaning", saw them and figured I had outgrown them and tossed them in the trash. I didn't find out about until after my service time was over. Needless to say I was heartbroken!

Not only did they have a great deal of sentimental value to me but some of them were from her brother (my uncle) and were EXTREMELY valuable! Many of the early issues of Superman, Batman, Captain America, etc. and in pretty good condition too. He had some baseball cards as well that would be pretty valuable now too: DiMaggio, Ted Williams, etc.

I'd get those boxes and store them at my house if I were you.

Wasn't there a GI Joe in the 1980s called Captain Gridiron, a supposed former pro football player turned special forces. I'll take him, I think GI Joe actually tried to make William "The Fridge/ Refridgerater" Perry a Joe as well, I'll take him too.

No doubt Wolverine as a MLB or OL because with his claws no one would dare rush the passer :D

Beast at fullback and Wolverine to block kicks, those claws could get some extra inches.

Imagine the WHO singing, "Talking bout my generation!" Cause you are. We had neighborhood football games until we couldn't see the ball and then come in all sweaty to eat dinner and watch TV. I remember the last one of those I played in was fall 1986 and I knew at the time it would be the last or close to it so I tried to remember it.

Gotta go with Groo on this one.

Dallas would win but everyone on both teams would be killed (Parcells and Bledsoe included:D )

The best part is that finding "This is the secret message" would be simple on an big screen LCD.

No mom knows they are there and knows not to throw them away.

See I used to have every Star Wars toy from the original movie, plus all the cards.

As I grew up she decided to do put them in a yard sale....ALL of it.

The last time I looked on ebay (a few years ago) ONE of the pieces was being sold for well over a grand :banghead:
