Who are the Cowboys running back targets other then Jeanty

No issue with Skateboo but you want to pay Dowdle money that we could give to another position? How much money you willing to pay Rico.
IMHO, you offer him literally the lowest amount possible, per league rules, to stay. If he stays great, he's a good back up. But the reality is it's long past time to make a move for a younger, much better and cheaper RB. Which one can be found in abundance and at many levels of his draft.

I want two back’s regardless of who we pick. People need to watch a little tape on Tahj Brooks. His feet are Emmitt like in the pocket. Jump cuts galore. He would be a nice get late.
I knocked Tahj because he was slow and I was looking for a game breaker, but when I heard about a power run game, I watch him again. Yo, this is a good RB, David Montgomery-ish. Cowboys have already visited with him and know ppl in the organization.

He's honestly not that far off.

During the first 9 games, Dowdle averaged just ~10 carries (10.3) and 45 yards per game.

During the last 7 games, he averaged ~20 carries (20.2) and 97 yards per game.
I’ll never understand our fans not appreciating what Rico just did behind a patch work OL while playing with a backup QB.

We’ve been whining about the running game for years and now we have a good back and half of our fans would rather run 2 rookies out there than have a proven guy.

I'm on board with the Rico love here. I want to add another guy with more burst. but Rico's a very capable inside banger.

Cowboys had a running game when Pollard was around, it hasn't been years. It just hasn't been a commitment like we wanted. I agree, Rico had a fine season, and is capable. 2 rookies is a valid option with the right coaches, and I think Dallas has the coaches now.

I have had this gut feeling Hampton will be a Cowboy for a long time. Having said that. RJ Harvey will go before 4th round, Tahj Brooks is a name to look for late as well as DJ Giddens.
Earlier rounds I like Kaleb Johnson and Hampton. Skateboo if not before round 3 (wish we had our 4th lol)

Another name I'd look for is Kyle Monangai Rutgers. I just think he could do well in our new system.
I like Skatebo a lot too. But I don’t think he’s a good fit here. He’s a bowling ball who’s tough as nails and because of that I don’t think he will be effective for a long time. As physical as he is, he won’t last very long IMO. And not much speed. I think he’s a great college player who won’t translate as well in the NFL.

Hampton reminds me of DeMarco Murray because of his feet. Does anybody else see that?

Rico did prove himself to be capable this year...but let's keep it in perspective, he will be 27 this June. If we don't draft someone this year, we will be having this same conversation next year.

You know hes going to want a few years on a contract this off-season. Is he worth what he will want given what he brings to the table and being 27? Meh. I say let him walk and draft 2 this year.

He’s really good at hiding in the pile and then jump cuts his way to open field. Reminds me of Emmitt and LeVeon Bell type feet. At 230 it’s pretty amazing. He rushed for over 100 in every single game this year. If we can’t get Jeanty I want two backs with Tahj as one of them.

IMO drafting Jeanty in round one is a huge mistake for a team in desperate need of help in the trenches, especially on defense. Finding a good impact RB is way easier than finding an impact DL. This draft is deep in talented RBs.

My targets would be rounds 2-6; Would consider possibly taking two or getting another as an UFA:
ROUNDS 2-3
  • Treyveon Henderson Ohio State- elite speed for a RB, makes great cuts, excellent receiver, game breaker at any moment.
  • OMarion Hampton North Carolina- has a nice burst in open field, size and power. Not as great as receiver.
  • Quinshon Judkins- also Ohio State- not as fast as Henderson but great balance, nose for the goal line, makes great cuts, and can break tackles.
  • Ollie Gordon Oklahoma State- 2023 Doak Walker award winner would have been a first round pick last year but OSU had a rough year this year. Big and powerful but also has good speed.
ROUNDS 4-6
  • Dylan Sampson Tennessee- may not fall as far as 4th. Great speed, in fact may be fastest RB in draft, good lateral quickness, decent receiver.
  • RJ Harvey Central Florida-not elite speed but very quick, consistently productive runner in college, good balance, hits hole quickly.
  • Tahj Brooks Texas Tech - a sleeper. Not fast but very patient finding hole, breaks tons of tackles and is a sneaky good receiver. Might be available in rounds 5-7.
These guys are much better value in the draft than Jeanty.
Kaleb Johnson would be in my top three as well.

While we must work on the DL, that’s a deep DT group this year.
We must get a #2 WR who can get open, separate. We know it won’t happen in free agency, and we know there’s no one on the roster who can get open consistently. It’s a much weaker draft for impact WRs.

Thus, I feel we will draft a WR at 12 or move down a little for another day 2 pick and still take a WR. McMillan, Burden, Ebuka, or Golden.

DT and RB in rounds 2-3 (in any order). Hopefully another day 2 pick. Then draft talent across the board with the other 6-7 picks and use any compensatory picks to move around a bit.

guys I like:
trey Henderson - Aaron jones
Kalen Johnson- Todd gurley lite
Devin Neal - baby saquon
brashard smith - Percy Harvin
Jordan James - shifty pacheco
Tahj Brooks - David Montgomery
Raheim Sanders - demarco Murray
bhayshul Tutten- Aaron jones again

and my favorite Ollie Gordon- Adrian Peterson
You must not have seen Gordon this year. Not good.

I did not realize Rico was that old. Now he has not had that much wear and tear but still.

IMO, there are ~20 draftable backs this year. No way I'd take one before the 3rd, unless the kid from NC falls to 44. Just way too many guys who can be at least as good as Rico was last year, and probably better. I'd likely go DE/DT with my 1st 2 picks depending on how things fall, unless there's a trade down, or one of the top WRs fall to you. Win on the LOS. I don't think any OL is worth 12 this year, especially with Simmons injury supposedly being a serious one.

Broaddus agrees with you. I think Hampton goes between the late 20s early 40s. He is the one back that actually has size, strength, and speed. If Hampton does well at the combine he might jump up higher then 20.

You must not have seen Gordon this year. Not good.
The consensus is that poor o-line, scheme, qb play and the added attention from being the Doak Walker award winner created a perfect storm.

Is that a viable excuse? Maybe. Does ollie deserve some flack? Undoubtedly.

But if you mixed film from 2023 and 2024, you wouldn't notice a difference in athleticism or ability. He didn't lose a step.

The combine will be interesting for Ollie and a lot of these guys. I have a feeling scouts haven't forgotten Ollie's 2023 season and if he goes sub 4.5 he's going 2nd round.
