Who Do You Want After Tuna?

Can we take it one day at a time and concentrate on this season, please?!

I'm sure OUR first choice or any choice of a new head coach will be Jerry's first priority!!
Wow thanks for setting straight those of us who were labouring under the delusion that a message board can have a tangible effect on NFL personnel decisions. Your harsh, yet fair realism was much needed! Thanks for showing us the way!

"Any one of 500 coaches could take this team to the Super Bowl." Jerruh.

As for current NFL coaches: Del Rio, Fisher, & Billick are the only ones I'd want outside of the untouchables like Belichick, Reid, or Fox. I'd take Holmgren in a tight pinch.

College wise: Any Stoops (though the luster is off of Bob for me), Jim Trestle, Weis (forget it), Kirk Ferentz, Houston Nutt (maybe), and many more that aren't coming to mind right now or Chan Gailey :)

Billick? why would you want him? He's a clod who had one fluke super bowl win

as for Bob Stoops, the guy has massive NFL failure waiting to happen tattood all over him...runs a pop gun nintendo style offense that has zero chance of success in the NFL (like his mento Spurrier) and runs a fairly passive style defense as well...Houston Nutt is not NFL material either, nor is Jim Tressel

Ferentz is another story...he has NFL experience and has worked with some pretty solid coaches

Nice ..............

I'd like Russ Grimm Steelers Asst/Head Coach and Offensive line Coach

very interesting choice...guy has solid background and has built a bigtime OL in Pittsburgh...if he could assemble the right group of assistants he might be a svery under the radar type option who could really turn this team around...the kind of hard nosed guy this team really needs

Now David that's being a little Harsh......He's a great recruiter :D

Surprised to see Russ Grimm mentioned, though I think he will make an excellent head coach.

Grimm would be a top choice to take over when Gibbs retires in DC, but it probably won't happen. It would appear that Greg Williams is being set up for that.

Think Monte Kiffin is too old?

I beleve so. I think I remember him saying, just like Jim Johnson of the Eagles, he's content where he is as a coordinator.

Anyway, why is everyone so sure Charlie Weis would just pack up and come to the Cowboys? I thought by now, somebody would shoot it down..

Yes, Charlie Weis wanted a NFL Head Coaching job, but he also said that Notre Dame was the only NCAA school he would coach and was his dream job. He's not just going to pick up and leave when the almighty Dallas Cowboys are offering a job. Hell, the Dolphins already fired Wanny and I believe Erickson was either already fired or definitely going to be fired from the 49ers when he took the ND job. Those are 2 prestigous NFL teams he could've interviewed for, but chose ND over. As long as he's welcomed at ND, I don't think he'll be leaving.

I personally anticipate Parcells leaving after next season, if not, the following season at the latest. It's hard to see who'd be available, but I'm a big Kirk Ferentz fan, that'd be ideal. I'd also like Bob Stoops, and from the NFL level, if the Titans grow impatient in the rebuilding process and fire Jeff Fischer for some reason, he'd be more than welcome.

Personally, I really like Weise but not sure if he would be the guy. Other's I like in the College game are Franchione, Tommy Bowden, Larry Coker but I really like Bob Petrino out of Louisville. I think he gets it.

Tommy Bowden!!!
Your kidding...right???

Usc Head Coach

Pete Carrol? The same guy who was average with the Jets and Pats. Dennis Erickson was another good college coach, and look what he did in the NFL.

Hmmmmmm.......Geez, I thought Ferentz was a Big 10 coach, you know, the one's who you said "I have to be freaking kidding".

Nope, I'm not kidding at all.

You obviously don't watch Big 10 football. Barry Alvarez gets a pass because he is retiring from football this season, Penn State's Joe Paterno is too old, and Illinois is the only other exemption......beyond those three, all the other Big Ten coaches have potential to be good HC's in the NFL. The Big 10 is one the nations toughest college divisions year in and year out for a reason....coaching.
