You obviously don't watch Big 10 football. Barry Alvarez gets a pass because he is retiring from football this season, Penn State's Joe Paterno is too old, and Illinois is the only other exemption......beyond those three, all the other Big Ten coaches have potential to be good HC's in the NFL. The Big 10 is one the nations toughest college divisions year in and year out for a reason....coaching.

I do; as a matter of fact, I like college ball better than the pro game. Maybe in some years the BIG 10 is one of the toughest divisions, but not this year. I'd go SEC, then the ACC, then BIG 10, as a matter of fact I think the BIG 12 is better than the BIG 10 this year.

Tommy Bowden!!!
Your kidding...right???

Nope. I think Tommy Bowden will be a better Pro Coach then Bobby ever would have been. I think he's got the right mentality. Don't know if he'll ever get the chance but I do believe he is better suited.

I also like Tuberville. Didn't mention him yesterday.

Hmmmmmm.......Geez, I thought Ferentz was a Big 10 coach, you know, the one's who you said "I have to be freaking kidding".

your post made it sound like any number of Big 10 coaches, and the vast majority of them have no chance to be good NFL coaches

I'm sorry, but Lloyd Carr, Jim Tressell, Glen Mason and the guy at Purdue are not NFL style coaches...they dont run pro style systems (Carr would be more prostyle than the others but he isnt leaving)

I might get killed for this, but I agree. I think Payton is being groomed by BP to take over in another year or two.
:ralph: Can we just have Campo back?

Payton does not carry himself like a HC in waiting. He carries himself like a subordinate.

In college keep an eye on Mike Leach, Bob Stoops and Urban Meyer(pro style offenses w/ good game day planning). In the NFL Jeff Fisher is under fire and undermanned due to the salary cap and his owner is a jerk.Keep an eye on the Houston situation as well.

I think Urban Meyer will need to have a couple of succesful year under his belt at Florida before he would be considered seriously in the NFL. I think he's more then just a few years away at this point but I do like him very much.

I like what Urban Meyer has done so far, but that offense wouldnt work here obviously, Id like to see what he does with a pocket QB.

If the hire does not happen from within then I would love to see Gary Kubiak become HC.

Kubiak would be interesting. Is he still with Denver?

Yeah been an OC for 12 years now. I have always like him both as a QB at A&M as well as the job he has done in the Pros as the OC. I would rather go with someone with NFL experiance

Its at least 3 years away, unless Parcells health becomes an issue...so lots can change between now and then....Weis right now, but who knows 3 years from now....Is it Stoops, Myer, maybe Spurrier becomes hot again....Maybe Reid gets full of himself and leaves the Eagles...maybe JJ gets the bug again...

If you ask me today, its Weis.....

I know who I don't want: Zimmer, Payton or any other current Cowboys assistant.

It all depends on how much longer Parcells stays and who is available at the time, but Stoops is an obvious name. And from early results, Charlie Weis looks like he could be a good one.
