We had an ice storm here last year in December and I was out working and saw that old barn.

My wife is into Photography. Recently upgraded from a Nikon D-70 to a Nikon D-90.

Here's some of her pics. Some recent, some old:

Then some pictures of our new car she did (sorry for the links but I can't post them here in a decent size from that site, that is where she puts most of her better ones and doesn't want any used without her permission):

I just got an Olympus SP-56OUZ digital camera for Christmas. It's a real nice camera, I just don't know how to use it except for the "auto" settings.

How do I learn what those other setting are for? I have the manual but I cannot understand what they are trying to tell me as far as other setting go.

Is there a Photography for Dummies book or something that is not so technical that I can learn with?

Learn your The Manual settings the Aperture, and shutter. Play with the settings and take lots of "photos" you will be able to see how the settings effect the picture. The first time you take a picture of a busy street at night in long exposure or a water fall. you will be hooked for life.
And yes there is a Photography for Dummies book. I think I used to have a well worn copy. LOL. ;)

A good place to learn about photography is www.dpreview.com. They have forums there for whatever camera you have, or like, and a lot of helpful people.

I've been into photography for about 10 years now. I've never had the opportunity to work with film, just digital. I started out with an Olympus C3000z, and moved up to the Nikon D50 digital about 31/2 years ago.

Some Olympus C3000z shots.

Why am I having a hard time keeping the camera still while the shutter goes off? Some of these settings are wierd! When I hit the button to take the pic, the camera flashes, then a few seconds later, the picture gets taken and it comes out blurry!

Do you guys use tripods, or what am I doing wrong?

Like I said, not real artsy. Just pictures from a recent trip to Europe.

ImageShack doesn't do wonders for the quality of the picture, but oh well...

Beautiful shots everyone is posting.

I do use a tripod occasionally, but most of the time just find something to hold the camera or myself against to stay steady.

I love this photo.
Really nice. Not that that disparages the others because they're all nice, but this one really grabs me. Nice work.

Thanks! That was my favorite of the trip. And I nearly fell in trying to get that angle.
