No one has mentioned Dak yet? Come-on, have you guys seen his throwing video? Quincy Carter was more accurate. The only difference is Dak has been handed a loaded team since 2016.

Dak is #1 worst starting QB for the Dallas cowboys.

Great thread, but I have to disagree on Quincy. I thought Quincy was very good but inconsistent at times. He had the talent and a rocket of an arm to have been able to become very good. Too bad he couldn't stay off them drugs during his playing years.

For NFL Films to make a 10+ minute Cowboys career highlight reel of Quincy Carter shows they felt the same about Quincy Carter's potential.

He could ride this Bus to a Championship

Light hearted fun thread for low brow entertainment. My vote goes for the most obvious of low hanging fruit Quincy Carter.
I nominate Deek, based on his 7 years of wheels in the sand, 2 career playoff wins and two heartbreaking ends to playoff games in 2021 and 2022.

It might well have been Johnny Football, if it weren't for Stephen Jones pinning Jerry to the wall in lieu of that hiring . . . :muttley: Whew!

Yes, he was. D bailed them out.

Man, you guys got to expand your analyses. The erroneous stuff y'all are spouting makes you look awfully silly.

What's your next argument, that Trent Dilfer must've been a great QB?
Okay, let's recap. He WASN'T bad enough to hold them from the playoffs in 2003, because they...wait for it...DID make the playoffs. Was he the main reason they went? Heck no. They were the #1 ranked defense in the league that year.

Next, you think we're going to claim Trent Dilfer was a great QB, like we're claiming Quincy Carter to be great or something? You'd be great on CNN.

I was thinking the same thing about you.

He was bad enough. He was terrible.

Brandon Weedon.
Couldn't stand him. He whined when he was in Cleveland about how he needed a change of scenery and then he came to Dallas and played with like four pro bowlers on the offensive line in 2015 and was hot garbage.

He later that same season went to Houston and then was trying to mouth off about Dallas when Houston barely squeaked in as a wild card. He was like "crazy what a change of scenery will do for you" (it's like dude you were playing with four pro bowl lineman in Dallas and still sucked, don't be making excuses about how you were dealt a bad hand and that's why you played bad).

But once again, not bad enough to not hold his team back from making the playoffs. You continue to embarrass...

walsh was horrible but jimmy johnson was so smart he got a high draft pick from the saints for him.
... He might have been smart for that, but just remember by taking Walsh in the supplemental draft in the summer of 1989, that cost the Cowboys the number 1 overall pick in 1990.

However, that was probably a blessing in disguise, because we may not have gotten Emmett Smith had we had the number one overall pick.

He had one start so he doesn’t count. This is about QBs that became the starter at some point.
You are drawing false distinctions. Doesn't matter how a QB became a starter.

Drew Henson gets my vote.

Dishonorable mentions: Ryan Leaf, Clint Stoerner, Ben DiNucci.

Quincy doesn't belong anywhere in this thread. He was clearly better than the guy he beat out, 2002 disaster Chad Hutchinson, and we even reached the playoffs with him.
Dudes picking Quincy are wack. I see a lot more trashier QBs to pick from in this thread.

If a backup QB is substituting for an injured starter, they’re not a “starter.” They’re still a backup QB. A QB becomes a starter by either winning the job or due to poor QB play by the current starter or by taking the job away from the current injured starter due to outstanding play. That’s how Brady got the starting job in New England, and how Dak got the starting job with the Cowboys by substituting for an injured starter and playing outstanding football and stealing the job. You’re one of those who doesn’t understand what a “starting” QB is in relation to a “backup” QB. Many of the QBs that are being mentioned in this thread were backup QBs who were substituting for an injured starter. They weren’t “starting” QBs!

Your argument is pure fantasy gibberish. All NFL QBs prepare to be able to start in the NFL. You are conflating QBs who have started NFL game(s) with whether a player "deserves" or has earned the right to start. Silly. Would you consider Brock Purdy a designated back-up QB? He would have never started had it not been for the fluke of the 49ers losing both QB 1 and 2 to season-ending injuries. Besides that, there are plenty of team that are starting so-called backup QBs because they can't find a better QB.

There is no such thing as a one size fits all definition of what an NFL starting QB is. It's just a theory .

All that matters is whether a QB actually started in an NFL game.

My argument is pure fact, there’s a difference between a “starting” QB and a backup. If you don’t know that then football isn’t for you. Brock Purdy was a third string QB who got an opportunity because of injury. He was a backup QB last season who was forced into the starting role. He has yet to be named the 49ers starting QB. From what I’m hearing there’s going to be a competition between him and Trey Lance. It’s not 100% if Purdy will be ready to play by the start of the season. Starting an NFL game because of injury doesn’t make a QB a “starting” NFL QB. They’re still a backup! You’re following the wrong sport if you don’t know that. If you want to keep wasting time on this go ahead.
