Who's hopping on the Buckner Bandwagon with me?

He had 163 tackles in two years. That's unusual for a defensive lineman. I'm thinking Crawford didn't hold up too well at DT so they are going to move him back to SDE which creates a need at 3T.

I'd say that's a real possibility.

And yeah, one thing about Buckner you notice on tape is he is very involved the run game. He makes a ton of tackles

He is not a DE in our scheme. His tape shows absolutely no ability to bend the corner, and no pass rush moves whatsoever. Maybe he's a 3-tech. But we a starter in Crawford there, and Buckner's mirror-image in David Irving backing him up. I'd be beyond pissed if he's our pick at 4.

No pass rush moves is so wrong it's hilarious. His swim move is elite and how he got a lot of his 10.5 sacks.

He's a top 10 pick in most mocks/ratings. He has position flex, which the Cowboys love. No character issues that have come forward. If the Cowboys are thinking they have their DE's in DLaw, Gregory, Oak FA, then long term planning for Buckner as DT/DE could be a very distinct option.

I have not seen him play, nor am I a scout, so I can't say I love or hate the player. I have to hope the Cowboys with their 1st pick knows what they are doing, and recent history (I know, minus Mo), says they really do. A lot better than most teams in the 1st round.

If Buckner's hand usage was as good as Bosa's with those long arms he'd be dangerous. Maybe they think they can coach that up and figure he has more potential?

Well, he definitely has a ton of potential, just due to size/quickness alone. Bosa's no slouch when it comes to #s, but yeah, he doesn't offer the same growth potential as Buckner

Not on the bandwagon but he's who I've predicted the team would select at #4 since March.

Show me bad tape. I dare you

His tape is not "bad". It is just you have to do a lot of digging for the splash plays that make you say "that's a top five player right there".

Take a look at Conklin beat him up for a good part of their game together and you may see what is meant.

I see why people like him, but it is mostly projection. Then some take that and over blow it.

He has the raw tools, but he will need to time and a good situation.

How many players have you watched in this draft class and said "that's a top 5 player"? Honest question, because I don't really see any besides maybe Ramsey. And even his playmaking ability is absent in college. Like I said, Buckner isn't my #1 option and I didn't see myself coming to this conclusion at all a month ago. But what else is there?

Ramsey and Elliot. Which is what our board should be.

You're opinion is irrelevant until I see bad tape. Still waiting on that

Dude, I played college football and have probably forgotten more about watching game tape than you'll ever know. You want to see bad tape, watch his whole game against Mich St. Invisible.

The interest from VR is no joke; him or Ramsey will be the pick unless we receive an offer to trade down that's good to pass up.

You think they like him over Bosa. Rumors already starting to fly that chargers will take Ramsey.

Watch out guys, we got a big shot here...a college football player on a message board, everyone bow down.

I've watched his tape vs Mich St and he was plenty disruptive. Watch Conklin's tape vs every other DL'man in this draft. Conklin is going to be a top 15 pick because he mauled and beat the crap out of everyone he faced. Maybe he didn't make the big splash plays you're looking for but he consistently at least held his position, if not got pushed Conklin back. He was able to controll that Mich St line and was very good against the run. Take away 2 long runs and Mich St was horrible on the ground vs Oregon (35 for 97 - 2 long runs). Then again, if all you're looking for is a 270 lb speed rusher how could you come away impressed by anyone else?
