Newman can cover TO. TO could never cover Newman.

And this means nothing in the general scheme of things since Owens won't be playing cornerback against Newman at wide receiver.

There are good football players and bad football players. Some of the good ones have speed and some of the bad ones have speed.

I'll take a good football player over a bad football player any day.

I'll take a good football player, without speed over a bad football player with speed, any day.

However, I'll take a good football player with speed over a good football player without speed, any day.

Speed certainly isn't everything... but it can make a huge difference. Speed can make a good football player great.

Speed is the only reason JJ is starting over Barber at RB. I think Barber is a better RB... but Dallas wants that break-away ability that Jones has. Everyone says Barber is good but Jones has a chance to be special. However, Barber has better vision, I think... and more power, is tougher, can catch better... but Jones has speed. And so, he's the one we want to win the job.

Speed isn't everything... but it matters.

You are all wrong. Tyson Thompson.

Thank you for proving my point.

Fastest player on the team, but would be fortunate to have a small role.

Gurode.

Did you see the TC pic today? He was chasing down Reeves like Reeves stole his mini-Crunch bar.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Do we also need your permission to speculate who the strongest player on the team is?

Again, speed is useless without some of the rest of the package.

So if someone is the "fastest Cowboy" that doesn't tell me a single thing that's relevant other than the fact they can run quite fast.

They could be Alexander Wright or Randal Williams for all I know. And neither of those two players did a single solitary thing in terms of helping this franchise win football games.

Again.

What did Williams' distinction get him?

A job on special teams.

I don't care how many teammates you beat in a sprint.

Good players make plays. They run the correct routes. They make the right decisions. Anyone with a pair of cleats can run fast. The key is finding those that can do both. And most of the time, those that own the speed records are deficient in many other parts of their game.

I guess this distinction means something in terms of locker room bragging rights, but in the general scheme of things, it is relatively useless.

Why are you posting in the thread if its so useless?

Its just a question of who is the fastest player on the team... no one has said anything about how that relates to FOOTBALL ability.

This is NOT the case for anyone that's been listed in this thread. TO and Newman being the main discussion... both of them are FAST and outstanding PLAYERS.
Are you sure you want to say MOST?
You've got 1 example of Randall Williams. There's a LONG list of speedsters that were GREAT football players. Bob Hayes, Darrell Green, Deion Sanders, TERRENCE NEWMAN, BO JACKSON................

It's day one of camp.

You have spent all offseason salivating for this day.

Yet, a topic of conversation is which Cowboy can run the fastest.

I think that Spider-Man could take Batman in a fight.. His Spidey strength, his Spidey sense, his agility, and his webbing would give him a huge advantage over Batman, who is basically just an inflated James Bond.. now, neither Spider-Man nor Batman are gonna help the Dallas Cowboys win football games this year.. but it's just kinda fun to talk about..

I beg to differ... :laugh1:

D.Akers kicks onside 7 yards from PHI 30 to PHI 37. RANDALL WILLIAMS for 37 yards, TOUCHDOWN. Recovered the ball left side of the field. The last time a kickoff was returned for 37 or fewer yards for a touchdown was Dec. 19, 1999 when Henry Jones of Buffalo recorded a 37-yard touchdown return.

Cowboys won that game 23-21 in 2003 after Williams ran the opening kickoff in for a TD. I'd say that's helping the team. :lmao2:

:laugh1: :laugh1: (I know.. 1 example.. just giving you a hard time. :))

I am not intrigued by comic book super heroes, so that might be part of my problem.

Alexander if you could have two players with similar skills but one is markedly faster than the other which do you take?

40 times are somewhat silly but true football speed is rarely overrated EXCEPT where the player involved is only loosely fitting of the title football player.

Is Randy Moss a great WR? Would he be if he ran a 4.68 40?
Would Deion be any good if he ran a 4.6?

Every NFL team works hard to build their players speed because it is part of the overall skillset that makes them successful.

I ran a 4.65. If I ran a 4.45 I am fairly certain I would have at least made an NFL camp if not a team.

You disagree that it's better to have a good football player with speed than a good football player without?

Wolverine is tough to beat.. you really can't kill him.. but I think he would have a really hard time with Spidey.. Spider-Man is so quick and agile and his strength and webbing would give Wolverine fits.. BUT.. like I said, Wolverine really can't be killed.. it would be a good fight..
