Why are people getting all bent out of shape regarding coaching hire?

Here come the apologists. It happens every time this team falls short of reasonable expectations.
Here come the finger pointers, happens every time someone tries to stay positive and not sucked in with the rest of the sewer rats.

I mean, we pretty much have no clue how things will work out either way. Hot shot assistant? No clue. College coach? No clue. Safe retread? No clue. Old legendary coach? No clue. Pay a first for coach that has won before. No clue.

I mean, Andy Reid was kicked out of Philly and now he's a legend I guess. Did anyone know anything about Sean McWay before the Rams hired him? Okay, I'm sure some of you did. But that is no different from all the other hot shots that tried and failed.

So if you want to complain about JJ because he's the common thread here, okay. But no one knows anything at all about which coach will work or not. And if you think no coach will work, I guess that's fair too. But at the end of the day, hire whomever for all I care. I'll still watch and see what happens.
At this point it's all about the excitement the name and the moral, whether or not the new HC works out is to be unseen. Problem is that it shows the the Jones dont really care about their fans especially if they keep wanting to sabotage coaches under pay them and force future GCs on their staff

Clueless bro. Sorry. Coaching matters in pro football more than any other professional sport. Bar none.

I KNEW it!

Coogiguy IS Freddy Krueger!
I'd take those fingernails and shove them up so high, they'd cut his tonsils off. Lol!
That might have gone to far.....let me try it again.
This explains why his threads are like fingernails scratching a blackboard.....that's better!

In 14 years as an offensive coordinator, Schottenheimer's offenses only ranked in the top 10 in total offense twice and were only top 10 in scoring five times. One of those years was in 2023 with the Cowboys, in which McCarthy was the one calling plays, with Dallas ranking fifth in total offense and first in scoring.

That it is a signals to the fan base that the Cowboys seemingly have zero interest in truly competing for a Super Bowl. If that were the case, they would have made it through the decision process.

Instead, Dallas interviewed two candidates with below .500 records in their career as head coaches who were subsequently fired, and two candidates with no previous experience at the position. By hiring Schottenheimer, they would be picking the one that was perhaps the least qualified of the bunch.

In other words, unless the Jones family sees something in Schottenheimer that other NFL teams haven't seen in the last 27 years, he is not the right choice to lead the franchise.

Exactly the fan Jerry is counting on.

And FWIW, Reid ran his course in Philly because he was there for a decade and a half and just grew stale. But even then, he had made multiple NFCCG and a SB. So him being able to make KC a contender like they have been isn't all that surprising. Reid showed himself to be a damn good coach in Philly.

Odds are Schottenheimer will be a disaster. He's an OC that apparently has never called plays before. The offenses at pretty much all his stops as an assistant have been mediocre to bad. There is literally nothing on his resume that would indicate he will succeed.

But he fits one very important criteria for Jerry - desperation. Jerry likes guys who are desperate for the job because it then allows Jerry to control that guy and tell him who he can and can't hire for assistants.

Yep.

Stupid is as stupid does. These people will never learn.

This is such a craptastic hire but their brains are incapable of seeing it because they are hard wired to just think everything Dallas does is good.

depending on plain dumb luck I guess can be considered one way to go.

but it is concerning that at least one of these seems true:

1. the entire front office seems convinced the QB cannot learn a new system, limiting the pool to a couple remaining options

or

2. no candidate with a different system wants to come coach here for some reason

Regardless of who the next HC is, he will be set up to fail. Jerry Jones will demand Jason Witten to be on the coaching staff, like when Wade Phillips took over.

It’s hard for me to complain about the potential hire because I don’t know anything about him. If he is the guy it will be interesting to see who our DC and OC are. Hopefully they go after some guys with fresh schemes and not bring in a bunch of has beens with old outdated schemes.

Why not trade the 1st round pick for 5 7th round picks? You have no idea how any will do and 5 is more than 1.

Jerry already has the “hope train” running full steam ahead.

They also cost much less. Don't put these ideas in Jerry's head, he might actually do it.
